  1. System updates since the version prior to 1941 have been available OTA as long as a Primary user has been assigned to the vehicle. I am not aware of any limitations based on the hardware fitted on the earlier versions of the Mk 4. I would be interested in other owner’s experience.
  2. I’m not so sure of that - my understanding is that all Mk4 Octavia’s in territories that support OTA updates are capable of receiving them. Mine is a First Edition and regularly gets updates OTA.
  3. I’m curious how Skoda roll out the OTA updates. Obviously they would do it in waves but what criteria do they apply that dictates when a specific car is offered the update? Also, what happens if, at the time, you decline the update - do you go to the back of the queue? Likely no one actually knows the answers to these questions apart from the relevant Skoda team responsible for the roll out.
  4. Fair point if they have fixed that - I’m on Apple CarPlay O that bug doesn’t affect me but if it did I would likely be more keen to update.
  5. For me personally I cannot see any point in updating immediately - when the OTA update presents itself then I’ll accept it but for now “If it an’t broke…..”. Version 1941 has proved to be a very solid software release, is smooth and quick to respond so what’s the motivation to update - it’s not like I’ll suddenly get a whole host of new features.
  6. That is all you will need as the port supplies the power a Dash Cam requires. Worth noting power is only ”live” while the ignition is on. This might be relevant if you like your Dash Cam to be set to parking collision detection setting, whereby the camera will start recording if it detects a knock to your car when it is parked up - this will not work as no power.
  7. With all the modules these cars have I liken it to a house of cards as they, in certain aspects, interact with one another and can affect each others stability. Dealerships won’t, as a matter of course, update all the modules to the latest versions as, I guess, they work on the principle “If it ain’t broken”, which to some extent is understandable. However, whilst it’s obvious to the end user when somethings are amiss other aspects might not be so obvious. My aircon/heating seems to function fine but I am never 100% sure if it is working as intended (I know there was a firmware update released for its control module at some point).
  8. i actually think the firmware update does solve the issues. I went from the SOS module crashing daily prior to the update to now being rock solid. I suspect it was how the Telematics module handled the switch between 4G and 5G as you drove? In the early days Skoda’s “solution” was to replace the module but I think their Dev team finally caught up and found a firmware solution to solve the problems.
  9. I often anticipate a software update for other devices positively but, after all the previous issues with Škoda software and the fact that 1941 has been very robust I’m happy to hold back. Assume this update is more under the hood stuff or are their any end significant improvements that make real work differences for the end user. From my perspective the GUI is already snappy and responsive so I am inclined to wait until the OTA update comes my way.
  10. I can confirm, my SOS module crashed constantly but since the Telematics update was applied it has been rock solid
  11. if your SOS module is crashing / going offline you will likely need to get the dealer to update the actual modules firmware which is seperate to the infotainment software update. If you are still under the original 3 year manufacturers warranty then there is a Škoda issued TPI - you should be able to get the dealer to update both the Infotainment software and the SOS module firmware at no charge (although the dealer will often claim they can’t update the infotainment software - don’t believe them, they can).
  12. Can't exactly recall the process but I thought you start the process on your car, with your email address which is then your Skoda ID. To complete the activation in the car you have to have both key fobs available and press the buttons as instructed to link your car to the Skoda ID / profile. If you don't get to the part with the key fobs and you just get "Please Wait" that's a bug in the system and often needs the dealer to sort out although some have reported disconnecting the battery, wait a few minutes, then re-connect can sort that issue out.
  13. Becoming the primary user should not mess up the Infotainment system and bring some advantages when run in parallel with the SDkoda App. I would be more concerned that the Infotainment system is running software version 1941, which you definitely should be. Personally, I would go ahead and activate thecar and your profile as the Primary user. Myself and my wife use specific car keys which, when you unlock the car with your set of keys, adjust seats/mirrors / Infotainment preferences to that specific driver.
  14. I would imagine 20 minutes would be plenty of time. Very frustrating but looking more like a visit to a dealership might be necessary. Maybe send an email to Škoda directly explaining problems and action taken - although if I am honest they are pretty hopeless.
  15. Do you have the option of changing the sensitivity from between Early, Medium, or Late? There's a demo video on Youtube that shows this but I don't have those options, just a setting that switches it On and OF
  16. Thanks - think I will have to check with local Skoda parts department as the vehicle compatibility tools say it’s not compatible, however they are notoriously inaccurate on parts like this. I’ll also look too see if their are any reviews from Mk4 Estate owners confirming compatibility.
  17. Can anyone advise me of the part number or a link to a seller for a replacement plastic cover for the bottom of the rear wiper blade that covers the nut? Looking for one that fits the Estate NOT a Sedan (if there is a difference). Thanks in advance.
  18. Has anyone purchased this feature through the Connect store? On the item listing to purchase it, it states the following, "To secure full and proper functionality please visit your authorised dealer". Is this truly necessary or will it just become available once you have purchased it?
  19. Have you got a link for the cable you have? The OCD part of me likes the fact it has the white connector but black cable.
  20. I had the same issue when I purchased my Skoda Approved Used Car - was unable to become the Primary user and got stuck where you are getting to, that's when I stumbled upon the disconnect battery solution. I must emphasise I didn't follow this suggestion as my software was out of date and there were a few other software-related issues so I got the dealer to update the Infotainment software to 1941 and also update the SOS module firmware as it was no cost to me going that route.
  21. I assume you are on software version 1941? This sounds similar to an issue I have read on other threads about not being able to become primary user on the car. The solution was to disconnect your battery and then re-connect. I think this forces some kinds of full and complete reboot of the infotainment system. Have a hunt around the forum and also hopefully someone with greater knowledge or experience of the.issue can confirm.
  22. I have an SEL First Edition, so early in the production run, and find version 1941 snappy and responsive.
  23. Not sure that's even been released for the Skoda cars yet.? Honestly, with version 1941 being very stable and given the software issues experienced by many since the MK4 was released a new update isn't something that fills me with much excitement.
  24. Check out page 26 and the post by @The Wanderer for full instructions. The download link for software version 1941 is also somewhere in this topic. You could try requesting access to it via this Google Drive link (not mine) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZrR5cXSC6SbcHM-Xi7P0b2DwkWi24Ch-/view?usp=drivesdk
  25. That sounds like a plausible explanation, I was considering whether my maps needed updating but sounds like I should hold off. Like yourself, I use mapping app via CarPlay but good to maintain the inbuilt Sat Nav maps database.
