  1. Previously you categorically stated (and I quote) : "It is actually a statutory requirement in the UK to indicate lane changes - especially on motorways." Careless/Inconsiderate driving is *NOT* a statutory requirement that says you *MUST* indicate lane changes and wasn't the question that was asked ((also misuse of indicators as a careless/inconsiderate driving offence is a bit of a stretch, theoretically maybe? in actuality ?) Could you please cite a source for the original statement (I've already linked to the Highway code a few posts up) . ALso has anyone actually been prosecuted for not using their indicators I wonder (links to relevant sources also appreciated)? Careless/Inconsiderate driving is such a "woolly" offence as demonstrated here at the CPS Website
  2. FYI the highway code has Indicating (and other signals) as SHOULD not MUST (SHOULD is technically advisory only although non compliance may be taken into account in an individual scenario, MUST is backed up by regulation, usually somewhere in the RTA) https://www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/signals.html
  3. if a tree falls in an empty forest and there is no one there to hear it does it make a noise?
  4. with the common factor being electronic parking brakes rather than good old fashioned umbrella handles I've still not recalled any instance of a manual handbrake self deploying (although chances are it has possibly happened)
  5. "officially" there is currently one recall for the EX30 so this appears to be voluntary (which is good) (of course a lot of the symptoms in the Autocar article may be related)
  6. manually operated "emergency" brakes are much less susceptible (although I accept not immune) from failure (although I'm not sure I've ever heard of one "activating" itself at the wrong time)
  7. this is a very well presented view
  8. There are people out there struggling in many areas.........................
  9. again though that brings us back to the whole "haves & have nots" scenario. Yes, there are a group/subset of "I'm all right Jacks" who can charge at home and who (possibly) never/rarely travel anywhere where they cant get home again on the same charge but what about the unwashed masses who would need a electricity station in the same way ICE drivers need petrol stations today? Do you honestly think that Electricity supplied by private companies etc (in the same way as petrol/diesel is) is going to be free???
  10. interesting as is how long it has been running (although it is also pretty unique in the UK) : ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton_District_Energy_Scheme
  11. yes of course it will be, you keep telling yourself that............. (ok potentially true in some parts of the world that have say things like geothermal energy)
  12. Not necessarily. Whilst it may be that less fuel may need to be refined and that that the refinement costs may need to increase to produce lower volumes it's also entirely possible that liquid fuel prices may even drop as demand falls , but all depends on whether or not there's a Petrol Pond
  13. do you really need it to be that accurate? (just asking for a friend)
  14. WHilst I understand why going direct to CEO may feel like an option it may not be the best or most effective option. You haven't provided any details of what the issue is but generally if you follow the ombudsmans advice you should first submit a formal complaint in writing. https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge-base/how-to-resolve-a-problem-with-a-garage-or-dealer Then if needs be you can look at using the TMO to intervene. Mails to the CEO of most companies tend to end up going to a general customer service team. Have you tried mailing [email protected] or have all your interactions been with the franchised dealer only? All that said Matthew is still Managing Director for Skoda UK from what I can see https://www.ceoemail.com/s.php?id=ceo-8986
  15. aye my rubber mats smelt a bit at first but it goes away after a bit
  16. ah a hidden "benefit" of a lower spec unit ;o)
  17. on my Superb I just press the App button on the RH side of the screen to return to Carplay (AA in your case)

  19. “My house is obviously not safe” ‘Nuff said. Good luck
  20. completely disagree, I have 17" wheels on mine and I don't think they look like toy wheels
  21. completely agree and for longer trips I would probably be stopping every 2 hours or so which If I was driving a BEV would be the ideal opportunity to top up (and in fairness Tebay is quite possibly the best services on the motorway network to have a meal). Sadly however as far as I'm concerned a real world range of 215/200 miles doesn't cover me (in a BEV) for the trips I'm most likely to make without having to make an additional unrequired stop to charge up due to neither destination having any form of home charging available (nor are ever likely too even If I have it) which again is back to @Graham Butcher's point about the haves & the have nots
  22. What's needed is a system whereby large numbers of evs (whether that be BEVs, HEVs, Hydrogen fuel celled etc) can be topped up to their maximum range in a few minutes per vehicle thus replicating the ICE experience that has been in place for over 100 years
  23. My mind is still scrambled by this whole saga but let's unpick your latest and focus on that . You have a replacement set of 3 keys and as I read it : Set #1 has been dismantled, presumably battery removed, each piece wrapped in foil and then all the pieces put in a faraday bag and hidden in a "hard to find place" somewhere on the car. Set #2 is left on the front seat Set #3 is used to lock the car why oh why are Sets 1 & 2 even being left in the car ??? Set #2 is likely going flat because it's left in the car at all times. Set #3 may possibly be going flat because it's within range of the car when its parked up at home and constantly being pinged( although my experience is typically car key batteries only need changing once ina blue moon even if the car is parked within reasonably close proximity)
