DSG Thermostat
Yes! That helps muchly thank you. Wonder how much they’ll charge me to ship to me 🤣 The joys of being on the opposite side of the world to where probably the majority of the worlds cars reside 🤣

Does anyone else here have a 300k+ miles superb?
Sort of dredging up old topic, but still relevant I guess. 14 elegance estate 2.0 TDi DSG 4x4 I haven’t owned it that long, only 6 months but I know it’s had 2 previous owners, and has been a decent distance commuter car. It’s currently got 295,000km on it and I know the following has been done DMF - started to rattle Front right window regulator Push button for KESSY One set of brake pads There’s bound to be more but that’s all I can see from the service history I have which is fairly comprehensive and majority done at dealers. It does have some foibles. Neither front drivers seat heaters work, Columbus unit is a bit slow at times (on my list of things to replace), one of the thermostats (probably DSG) on its way. It’s also scratched to buggery all round due to previous owners kids/dogs (meh) Other than that, everything works, it drives nice and does what I need it to do. I didn’t pay much for it, so I didn’t have high expectations, but it’s excelled so far. Contemplating a tune but certainly doesn’t need one - would rather not upset turbo or DPF which currently are original, and I can still get sub 4.0l/100km (somewhere around 72 mpg if my calculations are right). It’ll get a Cambelt etc at 300, just had a new set of tyres fitted - far bigger than factory, which has improved the ride no end.

Retrofit camera for MIB STD2 PQ
Sorry to sort of drag this off topic a little but I want to do sort of the same thing. Not having any idea what I’m doing, what’s involved in coding the later headunit to the car and amplifier? I’m mainly after it for Apple CarPlay but have to find one locally first 🤣

DSG Thermostat
I know if I open their site, it tries to download their app and then says not available in NZ. Whether that’s indicative of shipping as well I don’t know.

DSG Thermostat
So, I appear to have the hallmarks of a bad DSG thermostat (slow warmup, temp fluctuations etc). From what I’ve researched online, it doesn’t appear to be a hard part to replace, doesn’t require coding (I’m yet to get as far as getting VCDS or similar - suggestions?) and shouldn’t be overly expensive. However, local dealer wants $158 NZD for it which seems excessive for what it is. Is there another reliable place who supplies that won’t cost the moon, or do I just pay dealer price? I’m aware it could be the main thermostat too but trying the easier cheaper fix first. It’s due a Cambelt in the not too distant future so will do main then if this doesn’t sort. 14 Superb Elegance, 2.0 TDI, 6 speed DSG 4x4, 295,000km TIA

Aftermarket head unit that works with dynamic sound system / underseat amp
Is that difficult for a complete novice? Was looking into changing my headunit but if I can find a yeti unit then that’s likely cheaper and easier (not that yetis exactly dime a dozen here)

Mk2 2.0 Diesel Service Schedule
That helps. Thank you. I’m hoping to have this car last me a good 10 years so it’ll be a very mileage if it lasts that long 🤣 from what a few places have told me - timing belt varies between 105km and 210. I might err on the side of caution with that. DSG 60, Haldex 60, service 15. Any advice on the diffs? I’m picking mine have never been done then - at almost 290,000km How does one establish if their Haldex has a filter? Couple places I rang (including dealers) say there’s no filter but I know some did so want to make sure that what little I get done by garages is done right. I intend to get a garage to do the Haldex this time round as time, mileage covered and lack of BCDS working against me 🤣 I guess I better get me a VCDS cable.

It does.

Heated seat not working
Any idea what colours are the heating pads? I don’t appear to have any heating on mine (based on a cursory 5 min button press in summer 🤣)

bi xenon's ?
Doesn’t sound too bad then. Mines pretty beat up paint wise already so not too bothered if it gets a scratch or 2. I’m picking the missus won’t want to get her hands dirty to help me 🤣

Mk2 2.0 Diesel Service Schedule
Long(ish) post, sorry in advance. Probably been done to death. Is there somewhere I can find out what service intervals are for various things? Manual doesn’t tell me squat. I know I’ve got (according to the dash) 10,000km til next service, and that the DSG oil and filter was done by dealer recently as well. Can’t see any mention of Haldex anywhere but haven’t finished going through the records from the 4 years the previous owners had it for. Was serviced at dealer though so I’m hopefully. Only done about 60,000km in that 4 years, where as I’ll do that in 18 months. I also know there’s 103,000km on the current Cambelt. Im reasonably mechanically minded (tinker with classic cars so it’s in the blood) so Will probably do a lot of general maintenance work myself but leave more involved things like Cambelt to the mechanic. Is it worth getting a VCDS? What does it enable me to do and at what cost? Do I need it to do stupid **** like reset the oil change reminder? (Bloody hope not) 2014 Superb Elegance, 2.0 125 TDI, DSG. 285,000 on the clock. Anything else I should be looking out for? It has a couple little things I need to sort - interior lights (which seem to be a common fault), sticky buttons, headlight trim etc. It also has a thing where now and again the temp gauge drops briefly. From 90 to about 85, and then back up. Not fast, and not for long periods so doesn’t suggest to me a bad thermostat. Reading elsewhere has told me the diesels take a long time to warm up (Škoda easily takes 3x the distance of my Holden Colorado). New Zealand based if that makes any difference. Picking there’s different intervals for different countries environments Thank you in advance.

Should try mine I guess. Only had it 5 days and it’s summer so I never thought to try them lol

Facelift Elegance Xenon Light Trim Ring Dilemma
Hi All I’m really not having much luck finding a solution to my problem, so hopefully someone here might know. I have a (literally just purchased) 14 Elegance estate. Of course that means it gets the flash bi-xenon dancing lights. However, the chrome trim ring for the ‘eye’ has come off (or unclipped) and has fallen down over the lens (see pics) blocking the light. My question is - has anyone come across this before? Can you open up the light enough to fit it back or do I have to try and split the lens off the housing? I’m hoping not the latter as I’m paranoid about breaking the light and can’t find a replacement anywhere for love nor money. Skoda isn’t a huge market in NZ so what few cars there are around being wrecked aren’t the facelift model. Any ideas or suggestions or solutions gratefully appreciated thanks

The Superb II & FL Picture thread
Recently acquired (as in 4 days ago) 2014 Elegance diesel. 280,000 km on the clock. Black Magic with black interior. Purchased as a cheap runabout so good family wagon doesn’t get hammered at work.

Ummmm, Hi?
Hi there thanks for welcoming me. New to Skoda ownership, just bought a 14 Superb Elegance Estate. As for me, middle aged, no kids, lots of pets, live in New Zealand. Hi! 🤣
