  1. @RodDuggan Just being nosy but what Renault have you gone with, an EV?
  2. Valve Stem kits for the Sensors are from £6 to £12 or so. Replacement sensors for my MG showing from about £25-£100. Just not got to my one yet to see what is what. When my Electric MINI was in at the BMW Dealers for it's service and Recall Actions i had on the winter wheels and tyres with no Sensors (i could have ordered with sensors @ just £155 extra) and the warning showing on the dash when at BMW. On the report it itemised TPMS,s required and quoted £2,500. EDIT. Fixed just valve stem kit needed, done for free by a mate.
  3. I just messed up. At the Car Wash / Tyre inflators. Increasing pressures of CrossClimate 3,s because going far later and the heat expected. l£1 in and as i inflate i broke the end of the valve / sensor off. I got the valve cap on. 3 Tyre & Exhaust centres within 300 yards and too early for opening and Bank Holiday and not sure which will be open. So got home 1/2 a mile. Neighbour will take the wheel off and get a valve fitted later. So just a suitable new sensor to source & PAY for. I could kick myself if it was not so hot / sweaty already.
  4. @RobDunford Maybe ask them again then, because at that price people could have a couple of days away & B&B and have their cam belt replaced and be quids in.
  5. Ps there are VW Group engines that do not have Wet Belt Timing belts, but Wet belts for the oil pump.
  6. No way did the Independent understand when quoting that it was a 1.5 TSI ACT. Even dead quickly done it is a 5 hour job. Places specialising in doing them & not using OEM parts are more expensive. Labour, Kit, VAT. £750 is cheap.
  7. Belt long long life maybe. What about the tensioner? It was worth doing a search. Loads of threads. So it was in the UK till July 2023, 5 years / 50,000 miles. But people were not wanting to pay between £750 - £1,200 just for the Cam belt. Cars were being traded in. Dealers would have to do it to have FMDSH or Serviced to Manufacturers guidelines,, recommendations, advice. So changed to maybe 150,000 miles, many many years. Inspect sometime. You decide.
  8. Sadly they are so so. IMO best swerved.
  9. Sounds like you are going to have to go see another mechanic to get a diagnosis. What else were you thinking you can do? Are you a member of the RAC or AA who could arrange an Inspection?
  10. Wet clutch DSG,s are the same oil in Box and MCU. The difference with Dry clutch DQ200,s being 2 oils. Separate in Box & MCU. & just a Small filter in the MCU. Where in Edinburgh, West End Skoda? Independents, Auto Shops might send off the MCU. You were near a very good place when in Edinburgh. http://autohausedinburgh.co.uk
  11. @lol-lol Subsea Planned for a long time now. Years behind the Wind Farms going live. When 75% of something not being used is still to be paid for that is just as the UK Government do things. They will pay for 100% of something not being used and maybe pay 150% or more for it, Ferries as examples, accommodation barges, etc etc. PS. Are you just ignoring the fact that the Sub Sea Interconnectors are planned, actually being built. Finished and hit land and buried to the Substation sites, But there are NIMBY,s who do not want the Cables coming to their 'No place is far from the Sea' in the UK. Many not bothered if it lands someplace else though.. Hence my post you are replying to. The Cables land near Carnoustie, already come across the land (UNDERGROUND) to Tealing where there is a Big Substation already, just not the Very very Big Substation needed, or the Pylons to transmit the electricity to England. Similar issues at many coastal sites around Scotland and RoUK where the cables come ashore.
  12. @JackThe Where are you? (Edit, i see Cumbria.) MCU,s can be Refurbished or Replaced. A Main Dealer will be getting in a new one. There is nothing 'Only Skoda Main Dealers can do'. Infact some farm out Gearboxes / DSG,s, even large Dealership Groups. Plenty actual trained and qualified techs / mechanics about with Licensed Equipment? Often all the gear and more than just Ideas like at the Main Dealerships they left and set up in business.
  13. Not particularly complex. Is it a DQ250 6 speed or DQ381 7 speed? It needs diagnosed not just assumed a MCU required. Auto Specialist for that. When was the Oil & Filter changed, & at how many miles, and where at?
  14. Just the correct oil required, to VW504 00 / 507, 5w 30 FS III. (Long Life) for fixed or variable servicing. ..............But with a 15 year old 1.4 TSI i would not use Long Life oil and go VW 502 00. So 5w 40 Full Synthetic. Fixed annual Oil & Filter changes. All oil in the UK to the spec is 'Good oil' as long as not Hooky from dodgy sellers.
  15. I would be checking what the gap is now.
  16. An Elroq vRS has a 79 kWh usable battery. 300 miles would be if getting about 3.8 miles to the kW/h. A Elroq 60 with a 63 kWh battery & 59 kWh usable is getting just over 4 miles a kW/h to go 240 miles. You need to be getting 4.4 miles a kW/h to go 260 miles.
  17. 2 years parts and labour warranty with Original Parts at the Main Dealers.
  18. I can check mine in the morning after a cold night and maybe 2.4 Bar and later in the day 2.6 Bar, and after 5 miles driven 2.7. Today they will be at 2.8 Bar when the ambient temp gets to near 20*oC. But that is Air temp. The road surface / surface where parked will be much higher than the air temp with the sun heating it. Parked on Asphalt in the sun the pressures / temperatures can be a bit different than on red or grey pavers or on concrete / slabs. Try it, just move the car from one surface to another. Maybe only a matter of feet apart. Often where i park the drivers side are higher temp and pressure than the passenger side because sitting in the sun compared to the other side in the shade.
  19. & the TPMS can be triggered not only by a reduced circumference of a tyre, it can be increased because of a binding brake or bearing on it's way out.
  20. We know generally. The OP can tell us about where he went and who they have. Someone told the good lady about having to be dried. That is usually about finding leaks inside. The only need to have a dry car about to get bodywork is to see properly where the repairs are needed, then as we know work starts on prepping to work, any part removal, dewax and mask etc. @RMH Was it Listers the car was at?
  21. There are still Dealerships or Groups with body shops. Like John Clark Group in Scotland. But the Centre in Dundee is used for the different brands they have franchises they have. Same with Arnold Clark and others. There are dealers with pre-teams, and refurbishers / valeters that will do minor paint repair work, buffing / touch ups. Then Chips Away types are very common. Paintless dent repair as well.
  22. Were any of the many others threads no help?
  23. So you asked, and they will not hire the tools. Is the Skoda Dealership really quoting £2,500 to do a clutch. Do the maybe not want the work as they do not have a Trained / Qualified EV tech? Progress, Electrified vehicles.
  24. Welcome to the forum. Have you tried the places with Trained EV Technicians?
  25. Is there no place in your local that does a 'Custom exhaust'? Who did the Stage 2 map on it? You have several Tuners around the Cambridge area, why not discuss with one with a good reputation locally and see what they suggest for the exhaust. & A place with a Dyno.
