Panoramic sunroof rust
@Peltsu Has your 9 year old car had Body Inspections during services or the Sun Roof Serviced where there could have been Corrosion spotted early on? When did you first see signs of rust? Inspections are not actually in the Skoda 3 year paint warranty or 12 year corrosion warranty T&C,s . Yet Skoda / VW often say 'no record of being done'. Yet Body Inspections feature as part of Skoda / VW Main Dealer Servicing. So with a Service Record if no record of an Inspection they know who do not do it. .......................... How many people are offered a Sun Roof Service or pay to have it done?

Will the original factory fitted air bags still function? & from the OP, how would a 31 year old car fair if subjected to a crash-test?

Karoq vs electric
If you install a charger at home and get a 10 pence a kWh or less tariff then it is almost a no brainer. 100 kWh £10 and get 350-400 miles for that. But there is the charger installation to pay for. Do you really want to buy a used EV though? Is there no lease deals worth considering? Maybe not with the miles per year you are doing.

Odd loss of power / 1.0TSI (DLAA) 81kW / 90 000km
Maybe try some E5. Lots of rubbish fuel about since the 'Military Action' in Iran. Everyone will be looking for Software Updates now. I Love 'Skoda Secret Service Service Campaigns'.

Odd loss of power / 1.0TSI (DLAA) 81kW / 90 000km
What country are you in? Is the ECU Software update because of a TPI / TSB from Skoda? What ambient temperatures are you talking about where you are? When were the spark plugs inspected or replaced? Is there a fresh clean air filter fitted? What is the fuel used, E5 or E10?

Fabia 1.2tsi and dq200 reliability
Welcome to the forum. There is a pinned thread top of page. Yes a 1.2 TSI from 2010 came with a DQ200 DSG. If it is still driving well @ 16 years old then yes reliable. It might have had new clutches, clutch forks, thew MCU or a repair kit. Or it might be as it left the factory. It might never of had the 2 oils changed. But then many will be like that. Timing chain. Might have had thew upgraded chain / tensioner fitted already. Is the car starting OK and no rattle? Look at the plug leads. Has it got armoured ones fitted? PS, check if any record of the DQ200 having had the Recall Action? Service Campaign '34F7' Change of oil and a software update. Sticker in the Spare Tyre well.

the truth about electric cars
Now more common Adverts saying 500 miles and plus range. eg Volvo EX60. £56,860-£70,360. Lease deals currently around £720 a month. If 400 miles is achieved without even trying that is pretty damn good. 4 miles a kWh, 100 kWh @ 7 pence a kWh, £7.00 to go 400 miles.

Tailgate rattle
It would not be a 'Recall' Unless vehicles were being 'Recalled' or Keepers notified. it would be a TPI or TSB. Technical Product Information or Technical Service Bulletin.

the truth about electric cars
Keeping 100 mile range in hand if the total range of the EV is only 110-150 or even 170 miles.
-
the truth about electric cars
How many EV chargers or hubs are near these routes / diversions? Get an unexpected 100 mile or more diversion in Scotland or maybe other parts of the UK because of road closures be it in adverse weather or just accidents and you really can be stuck, and be in areas without Radio / Mobile phone reception and poor GPS / Sat Nav or car screens / apps that are hopeless. People used to these types of regions may know what to expect, visitors / tourists can be really in a panic.

Looking at my first Skoda Scala - Question about servicing
Service has been done maybe as much as the service plan or owner wanted doing. Spark Plugs are a 40,000 mile / 4 year schedule. The air Filter might not even get looked at until 6 years / 60,000 miles by the Skoda Regime. So needs looked at, and checked. Pollen filter is @ 2 years. Have the brake fluid changed @ 3 years or before. The Money Makers have the schedule as first @ 2 years now.

Skoda Octavia mk.2 2.0 tdi Elegance, ENGINE & DPF light on
Premium Diesel is Still B7. Can have up to 7% Bio-Diesel mixed with 93% regular diesel. (That is except the Gulf Evo Ultra.) Any of the places i go will maybe have 4 or more Diesel pumps, & maybe just 1 with Premium Diesel. Shell V-Power Diesel., Esso Synergy Supreme+, Texaco Premium Diesel, BP Ultimate. Costco does Premium Diesel or regular Derv. ASDA, TESCO, or Sainsbury just do regular diesel. Some Morrisons have Premium Diesel and Regular.

Lane assist is dangerous
@Graham Butcher Skoda & VW Group never actually bothered about Vorsprung durch Technik. Even if they are in there early with technology they can still be messing up years later and instead of evolving and improving they coc-k up time after time. Lots of that was when they thought they knew best or could do stuff cheaper and took software development inhouse.

Lane assist is dangerous
Exactly why i went for Pre 2024 cars as keepers, actually 2010,2018 & 2021. The 2020 & 2023 BEV,s were fine as far as LKA, just gentle warnings and some false warnings on hilly back roads.

Lane assist is dangerous
^^^ Amazing that the cars can see white lines at the kerb where vehicles are parked when the car is going over 37 MPH & LKA is activated. This from AI sounds about right. .

Skoda Octavia mk.2 2.0 tdi Elegance, ENGINE & DPF light on
I am running BP Ultimate Diesel and my engine is Smoke and smell free. It was reeking on Tesco or Asda Diesel. In a Shogun i had i used Gulf Super Diesel but they have changed it to EvoUltra which is HVO and too expensive just now compared to the BP Premium or Esso Synergy Supreme + diesel. No harm in even putting in half a tank when you are nearly empty. They are a higher Cetane.

Regardless of the Brand of oil was it 5w 30 FS III. ? (VW 504 00 / 507 00) Do you ever run it on Premium Diesel? Worth getting a tank full in. IMO.
