  1. Go into settings for time and date and ensure the BST summer time box is ticked. That should be all you need.
  2. Unconvinced. Sounds like the automotive equivalent of money-for-nothing culture and ambulance chasing to me. Any future VW settlement should go directly to the Govt to help pay for green initiatives rather than the lumpen mass of taxpayers who aren't in the top 10% of earner bracket. 99% of diesel drivers' prime objective is to save money, not the planet. Witness the many TDI remaps and the extra pollution produced.
  3. " Something that was a bit un-nerving was that putting even slight pressure on one of the side covers (the cover physically moves in a small amount) causes a rubbing sound (like a pulley rubbing on the cover)." I can't imagine that you could do it but are you sure you are not pushing the cam belt cover onto the pulley or belt? If you continue to lose coolant, a water pump leak maybe drying on the block, so as Nick suggests, bring forward the belt change and change the pump if you find no other leaks. A dealer or garage can do a pressure test before you waste time effort and more driveway cleaner.
  4. If you're not an audiophile, Canton is fine playing iTunes Spotify etc. Canton or custom will improve it, depending on your budget or DIY skills.
  5. There are a few threads ref TDI waterpumps. You may have the same issue.
  6. Having had a 300 BHP Octavia, FWD can't reliably put down the power from a standing start as it loses traction very easily, even when rolling if the road surface is slightly damp, cold. It's not so much standing starts or 0-60 mph that I found impressive, rather it was the torque and ability to fire safely past traffic. I found the best method for a very quick departure was a short calm roll in 1st to get going, straight into 2nd and use the extra torque to push on. With my current pipe and slippers car, I just stamp on the accelerator and know the car will jump away at a busy roundabout with no danger or panic caused by wheel spin.
  7. Your local wheel / tyre company can probably help. We had the same issue on my wife's 07 Sirion. They were cleaned up but may only be temporary fix for 2 years or so, cost me £5 or £10 per wheel.
  8. Why don’t you search for threads in TDI VRS in the Mk II forum? They like the GTD are reasonably economical, can be mapped but some then did have clutch plate issues. I had a very nice MKII petrol VRS. If you buy a petrol 09-12 plate, check it has had the cam chain tensioner replaced. There were some issues on earlier VRS with ABS sensors corroding in the rear wheel hub, AC compressor failure and ABS modules. Sounds terrible but very solid good car. By now these will have been sorted...hopefully. Petrol engine very smooth and reasonable economy. At this age of car you may have to do some additional maintenance, suspension bushes etc. Look at some of the cars for sale and project threads for what you can do to them.
  9. Buy cheap buy twice. If they’re the same ones or same quality as the ones in my Superb, they are robust and very handy for stopping stuff moving around d the boot or chucking loads of gloves, clothes etc in the side hanging ones.
  10. Is that in the UK and was the crack on the glass surround?
  11. No roof rack or load or stone hit etc.
  12. It’s the hatchback and yes it’s the glass surrounding the sunroof
  13. No not any let alone a bad one. The dealer should be able to see the wheels and suspension. Curious myself to find out.
  14. I just found a crack in the glass roof, not in the actual sunroof. No stone hit etc. I hope this is covered by warranty.
  15. Try this one, bit more expensive. I just found a great car on Auto Trader. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104081109152?atmobcid=soc3 Download the app to find your perfect car. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.autotrader.androidconsumersearch&referrer=utm_source%3DApp%20Share
  16. Sasha, I understand your view, it’s an expensive option, particularly if the L&K look is too ‘grandad’. It took me a bit of self-convincing to buy one. I haven’t driven a non-DCC Superb, I think the best option is to drive both and make your own conclusions. Personally after owning the VRS and GTI, DCC sport mode is required on back roads, which truth be told isn’t the Superb’s natural environment.
  17. The 2.0 TSI issue was up to about 2013 with cam chain tensioners failing and chains jumping a tooth. There are no major issues on these engines from 2014-2015 onwards. Go for the 2.0, I am on my 3rd such engine.
  18. No the kangaroo effect is VAG wide 1.5 TSI and my friend’s Mk IV 1.5 SE Octavia has noted this issue as have other owners of this model. The DAG is good, slight lag sometimes if not in sport mode. Maps or tuning boxes can be used for extra zip.
  19. The engine is smooth quick quiet and reliable. I don't recall any major issues with the latest TSI from around 2015 onwards. I have been a front seat passenger in a MkIII 1.4 and MkIV 1.5 TSI 150 BHP Octavia. Their engines are very good. The MkIV 1.5 engine still has a kangaroo-type effect initially when cold. However obviously they don't give you quite the same shove in the back as the older 2.0 TSI 220 or 280/272 BHP Super. Economy for 2.0 TSI on an A road fairly free flowing 10 mile commute, is mid to late 30 Mpg up to 40+ mpg on motorways keeping up with the flow. The Superb has more sound deadening and is definitely a quieter drive than the Octavia. There is some wind noise from the door mirrors. Seat pads are wider than the Octavia, or at least the VRS models I had. The Sportline's seats seem to have more pronounced side bolsters than the SE & L&K versions. The space and tech levels are good on models from SE spec level. You will have to drive one to see for yourself.
  20. Is there a reason why the ICE system seems to pick up your voice when the volume is turned down and you talk. First time myself and a passenger noticed it today, I could hear myself almost like an echo, like speaking in a confined space. Sensation stopped as soon as I turned the ICE off. Are the phone mikes live? We had both shot about a 100 cartridges about 30 minutes before but never had that weird hearing sensation before.
  21. If it’s 30K miles I think it should also mean that the Haldex and DSG has been serviced. Could be wrong though. If that’s on the schedule that’s important, not just clean oil, filter, plugs. Also aren’t they supposed to change the brake fluid every 2 years?
  22. Not speeding. PKF=Parking Fines. I imagine that the fines are sent to Lex Leasing.
  23. Agreed it’s too expensive as an option, although very pleasant on hot sticky days. If it comes all in the price, even better.
  24. I have driven a lot of cars over 40 years including Jags, 5 Series and the Superb L&K overall equipment and performance, considering the price I paid almost new, is more than competitive. You might also consider a well-specced Volvo T5 Inscription Plus. Nice interior but I don’t think they have AWD though.
