  1. Unlucky, I hope you get it fixed under warranty for free or cheaply.
  2. I thought I read in my GTI manual that you shouldn’t move DSG into Neutral whilst in motion
  3. For most UK people a serious 4x4 isn’t a Superb. In 3 years I haven’t been stranded or stuck by winter weather on summer tyres. However if you want to leave junctions and roundabouts safely, this car puts my former GTI and Octavia VRS in the shade, no wheel spin in the wet or dry. Haldex service at a garage was ‘only’ £90 and tyres lasted about the same as my VRS. If Autotrader is anything to go by I imagine the ratio of 4x4 for sale is probably similar to the 2WD versions.
  4. I think you are wasting your money on a louder exhaust, they simply aren’t loud. A much better value mod is Stage 1. It will have real pep and not just be for show.
  5. The VW/Skoda heated front windscreens look different from unheated ones, with a pinkish reflective sheen, as seen in the attached photo. Compare the Golf which has a heated front screen with the Volvo unheated front screen.
  6. There are about 500 similar threads if you do a search.
  7. PS4, Kumho, F1, are all decent tyres and will all keep you safe on the road, I hope you are happy with the Assy 6.
  8. You have to laugh. More tyre experts than a F1 team, advising a man insisting on driving a car on knackered tyres, who drives it 10 miles per week but wants performance tyres…….. 😀 Just buy some tyres and stop messing about.
  9. Although it was a great car, I ended up selling my MkIII Octavia prematurely due to the same reason. 3 garages said the bearings were fine, however the noise from 60 mph onwards droned so badly that even my wife, who is usually blissfully unaware of any noises or car problems, complained of the droning. Yes I could have replaced all the bearings but I left that to the next owner. I have experienced saw toothing on my MkII Octavia so I am more than aware of the problem and noise. However the droning on the MkIII started after a new set of tyres had only done about 2000 miles before the noise started. It was so bad, I turned around on a long drive to Bristol and booked a garage inspection. There hadn't been a problem prior to this. The car had done mid 30000k miles.
  10. I didn’t buy a Superb for belting around twisting roads. It’s a comfortable quieter car than the VRS. Yes the L & K seats are wider and don’t squeeze you in like a an Octy VRS. It does however, fir it’s size, take bends surprisingly well in DCC sport mode. I wouldn’t like to do the same bends without DCC, even with Sportline seat bolsters it will be more of a handful.
  11. Is there a manual wind in/out or can you disconnect the battery to ‘fool’ it into resetting or wiping the malfunction.
  12. I was obviously lucky then!
  13. The L& K is fully loaded with DCC, Canton, heated front screen, steering wheel, ventilated & heated leather front seats, heated rear seats, dynamic shaping headlights, digi dash. I was lucky, my unmapped 272 also came with sunroof & spare wheel. In DCC sport mode it handles reasonably well on twisting A roads for a big car. Having had 2 VRS Octavias and a GTI I had to give myself a talking to regarding the styling when considering its purchase, however it's really grown on me. I don't regret it. It is 2-3 mpg thirstier than my previous 2.0 TSI on my usual routes, which is a small price to pay for the quieter more comfortable drive. It's a good Q car. At a roundabout you can just stamp on the throttle to take advantage of a gap in the approaching traffic, there's no drama, spinning wheels or short shifting to get moving, it simply takes off. My only wish would have been for it to be dragon green but I think only Sportline's had that paint option.
  14. It had a chicken on the bonnet - Correction in🙄line.
  15. My dad sold cars at the time and he said it was the only Japanese car he'd buy. Considering how poor some of the BL cars were, I had a 1800 Morris, which was not bad, the Celica was a cut above.
  16. My first car at 18 years old, Celica 1600 ST, obviously I was shy so it had an Eagle on the bonnet and huge Pioneer speakers.
  17. @roottootI had forgotten about this topic. The car runs well as you'd expect. Oil use is not noticeable, I.e. I haven't added a drop in 12000 miles although I do check it occasionally. It's had 2 oil services and is on 18000 miles. I just checked the service paperwork and it's the usual bland uninformative 'serviced according to manufacturer's specification' No detail on amount or type of viscosity. These services/inspection services are nothing more than expensive oil and filter changes. I can see for myself if discs are lipped, grooved, tyres are worn, brake fluid and coolant is low or it's dropping oil.
  18. For @candasmand @Andrei_Spataruthe dealer stated they weren’t aware of any similar cases and needed to inspect the car on a ramp (probably to check if I had hit a pothole or something which had caused the split in the roof) No visible cause or reason was found other than it just split. So it was repaired at an approved bodyshop under warranty because the car was under 2 years old. Check out US VW Golf Mk7 website and there are a lot of pictures of similar cracks on Golf GTI on each side of the front edge. The crack shouldn’t leak into the car as the water should drain into the channels eventually, provided the drains are clear. It looks worse than it is. The affected area is a plastic cover. The glass sunroof itself was not damaged and closed/opened without a problem but it looks bad. You could try sealant but I think it’s a stress crack which will open up again. I think it’s about £1000. It’s not an uncommon fault despite what dealers may say. Good luck sorting it out as Skoda in the UK at least, don’t always pay up with cars out of warranty even for a well-known problem.
  19. If you used DCC it should stop it wallowing as much as comfort mode. If you haven't got DCC sport mode will do nothing.
  20. Does anybody know how to open their fuel cap cover when it’s stuck. My friend’s 1.5 TSI 18 ref hatch won’t open. Is there any emergency cord or some way to open it without damaging the paint.
  21. If it's not too late, cancel the pan roof and spec DCC, it's worth it.
  22. If you are determined to import and retain your cherished car, I would swap the headlights and not bother with the instrument cluster, just be aware or mark off UK speed limits or equivalent Kmh on your speedometer.
  23. The tyres won’t feel great in this cold weather and 2 wheel drive will only exacerbate & exaggerate the lack of grip from the lights and on corners. Not sure what you are really comparing it to (other than a 50’s Cadillac) It’s a big car so it does feel like a boat in comparison to other smaller hatches. Comfort mode is wallowy but for a large car, I think that Sport mode feels surprisingly firm and reassuring on the same rural A roads where I’ve driven my last 3 cars. Might be worth having your car put on a ramp and inspected to check that your absorbers aren’t leaking.
  24. ‘ Asked to clarify whether he was saying Hamilton would be penalised for not attending the gala, he said: "Forgiveness is always there. But rules are rules.’ …errr unless it’s all lapped cars overtake and then safety car in…..or we could change the rules to suit the occasion. F1 hypocrisy at its usual level.
  25. #Esseesse Coming from a healthy mapped 4x4 diesel I wonder if the 280/272 standard torque will be a bit disappointing. Not sure what the diesel’s economy is but my 7 speed 272 on Tesco 99 RON is generally 31-32 Mpg up to 43 on runs either on a motorway run with the flow or 60 mph on A roads, according to the readout, even with some sporadic bits of enjoyable moments thrown in. I’m not keen enough to do brim to brim.
