I have just been charged £71.51 for amending my policy with the RAC. I changed the purchase date from Sept 2021 to my purchase date in Nov 2024. I thought that when I filled in the application form It asked for date registered, which was Sept 2021. Can't find form now to check, so I must have made an error. Be very careful when filling in application forms as a mistalke can be costly. RAC is underwritten by LV and Alliance

My 2021 SEl 1.5 manual I find noisy from road noise in the rear. I asked my insurers (AA) if I could have the boot soundproofed, and after waiting several days for an answer, thet finally said OK as this is not a modification. So, my local car radio company informed me that they could do it for about £400. I think it might be more. They use Do Do mat. I am revieved I have the OK to install this materiall, as the AA have previously refused permission to install Bilstein B6 shockers and Goodridge flexible brake hoses. Always check with your insurers is any alterations not from the mauuacturers are approved, or you may not be insured.
  3. Thanks. I will try and locate them.
  4. 2921 Karoq 1.5 TsiL. How do you completely remove rear boot cover blind holder to make extra space? Can't see any catches.
  5. Hope you have informrd your insurance company of the towbar addition, or you are not insured.
  6. If you fit a towbar, you must inform your insurance company. Recent story in Daily Mail reported driver refused insurance claim, as he had not informed insurance company of this modification to his vehicle. Anything not on vehicle or modification when it left the factory will invalidate the insurance. Before you buy any mods check if ok with insurance.
  7. If you fit an aftermarket towbar, or any other, you must tell your insurance company. The car must be as it left the factory. Any extras must be approved by the insurers. Recent case in Daily Mail. Insurance claim rejected, as he had not informed the insurers.
  8. I was with LV for may years, including m/cycles. They wanted from £476 2023/4,but on renewal £736. AA was about £200 cheaper. Recently tried a quote with LV. Insurancere but refused as over 85. I have been driving since the age of 17, and passed the IAM m/cycle test in 1977. Obviosly I now drive very carefully, as the roads are now so busy. I can still handle a car well, and in the past have been on a skidpan. I have also driven Goodwood in a Ferrari and Volvo. They don't know that, and assume at 87 now I should be off the road.
  9. Being 86 is not a popular age for car insurers. I have recently purchased a Karoq, and wanted to change wheels from 18 to 17, rs plus to change dampers to Bilstein B6.The AA tried their insurers, who refused these changes. I then tried two well known brokers. One quoted £1242 pounds and the other over £2000. My current price is £526. Looks likeI am stuck with a standard vehicle. I have good driving record.
  10. What car do you have. Make model year. Which unit, Amusden or Columbus. I have Columbus MIB 2 in 2016 Superb, and have a rear reversing camera fitted by a member of this forum. Or do you mean front camera behind rear view mirror?
  11. I have a 2016 Superb, and purchased a wireless car play dongle from Amazon. Cost £60.
  12. Have you operated the rear washer with the jets removed to see if you get a big stream of water spurting? If so, your jets are still blocked and I recommend pushing 5amp fuse wire through to clear. If no spurt either pump at rear is u/s, no water in tank or blockage in the line from water tank to rear screen.
  13. My 2016 Superb Exec. has just had blocked rear jet again. I have had this annoyance on all the three Octavias I have owned. My clearance method is to remove the jet cover by lifting it up from the fat end taking care not to break the two prongs at the thin end. The jets can be removed by lifting them up with a screwdriver. I usually check water flow by operating rear wipers. Hopefully a good spurt of water gushes. I clean and clear the two jets with 5 amp fuse wire. Ifyou use tap water, limescale can be removed by soaking jets in vinegar . I use rain water and VW recommended fluid. When assembling ensure jets are located in the groove and tap them gently to seat firmly. Install cover prongs located first.
  14. A good plan to lever off jet cover from fat end and prise off jets. I also soaked them in vinegar. Take care when refitting cover. make sure the two end hooks are properly engaged. I use rain water for refilling and recommended fluid.
  15. Here is the Alignment report for my 2026 Superb Exe 1.4Tsi.
  16. You have to set the constant speed you want to maintain. Pull the lower left hand lever under the indicator lever towards you, accelerate to the speed you require, then press the button on the end of the lever to set. Reset speed again if you have used the brake pedal to slow down. Also, the left to right button on the top of the lever adjusts the gap between you and the car in front. Long, medium or short. Very useful on motorways or slow moving traffic. Push lever away from you to cancel cruise.
  17. I have had rear washer jet dribbling, and the answer is to remove the jet by carefully leavering off the cover from the fat rear, lifting it up and forward to release the two plastic prongs at the front. Otherwise the prongs will break. Lever off the jets with a screwdriver and soak them in a cup of vinegar for 30 mins, then use a thin strip of automotive wire to ream out the jets. Rinse and replace jets with prongs inserted first. Best to use rain water to avoid limescale.
  18. I have seen Wheeler Dealers or some other TV car prog have the same problem, and they took the instrument panel to experts somewhere in England. Led's were replaced, and they were very skilled at soldering. It's worth sending it away, as the risk of damaging the board is very high if you're not an expert, and it may cost you more money in the end. Internet search should find repairers.
  19. Suggest you have all 4 wheels tracked. My n/s front was out of sync, although I am the second owner. The previous owner looked after the car very well, and only clocked 27,000 miles in 5 years. I had front and backed tracked for £73. recently. Just make sure the steering wheel is centered after tracking.
  20. Try [email protected] I have purchased front and rear shocks for both Octavia 3 and my now 2016 Skoda Superb 1.4Tsi Exec. They are very helpful.
  21. I have a spare Kenwood 5190 DAB , which I had I my 2013 Octavia. Used for less than 1 year. Now have a Superb with Columbus. The Kenwood has Pocket GPs speed cameras installed, but need updating. Also all the extras included to connect with steering wheel and satellites. Will sell if interested.
  22. I p/x my 2013 Octavia Mk 3 for a 2016 Superb Exec. with 17 inch wheels last May. I was disappointed with the soft suspension, especially over speed humps. So I purchased Bilstein B6 shocks, and my independent workshop installed them for £240. Great difference with original springs, and the car is now a delight to drive. Insurance company ok'd change. Thanks to those who reported on Bilstein's in previous posts.
