  1. Gr8 mod. How much for the vents? Wonder how much a bodyshop will charge to fit/paint em?
  2. Since getting my Octy Vrs I've noticed that the 'cushioning' on the drivers righthand side of the seat support (hip/thigh) has almost gone. Its fine around the leg area but once you get near the hip it is as if there is no cushioning at all. It gets very uncomfortable on long journeys and seems to be that the metal frame is only covered by the leather! Thing that is worrying me is that it won't be long before the leather in this area tears due to no padding! :thumbdwn: Anyone else had this? How did you solve it?
  3. Same as above. Dg834 with Nv 2004. Easy to set-up, easy to update firmware, no hax (that I know of!). One thing that can be tricky is opening specific ports for using peer-peer and ftp downloads. I just cant get azureaus to work as it should. Not a fault of dsg just my n00b pc skills. :(
  4. Intellivision Atari 2600 zx81 spectrum48k spectrum 128+ Commodore 64 Atari ST Amiga A500 SNES Playstation1 N64 playstation2 Current PC (updated loads of times) AMD64 3400 K8vSE Deluxe 1024mb Corsiar twinx pro ATI X800XT 400 gig SATA maxtor (2x200) Raid 0 2x Asus DVD/RW x8speed
  5. Not tried them on the Vrs and I dont think I'll bother tbh. Had them on a 323f V6 (cross drilled & grooved) and didn't show an increase in stopping power but they didn't fade and didn't crack () oh...they don't stay 'black' either hehe. They do eat pads tho (ferodos lasted 7,000 miles avg...EBC even less!). They looked good but in terms of performance I would save up and go for brembo's.
  6. 4 bar revo from Jbs for me. No complaints just lots of grins
  7. I had a 'run-in' with an Imprezza wrx (new shape). He had me from a standing start (4x4) but once the speeds got around 60 I reeled him in np's (215bhp vs 240bhp ). If the road was twisty i'm sure it would have been a different story but on the striaght there isn't alot of difference between the two. Also this wrx wasn't an Sti or wr1...just a 'standard' wrx, where as my octy had been breathed on by Jbs. Never driven a standard OctyRs but I've driven a wrx sti and in the wet on a twisty B road...nothing can touch em imo, evo's are a little too 'twitchy' for my liking. I take comfort that I only pay a third of what I would to insure a prezza. Oh and you expect to be overtaken by an Imprezza...the look of shock you get when you fly past 'premium' cars in a Skoda is worth every penny imo
  8. Heard good things about the b2. I have a New Road Angel which I love but the one advantage the origin has over the angel is that the origin displays the speed limit aswell as the speed you are travelling (I think). The Road Angel looks better and dosn't fall of its mounts tho
  9. A m8 has this fitted to his laguna and worked fine. He almost cried when Renault told him it would be
  10. Ok...don'y buy from Wolfrace and don't buy form Rochford tyres. Rochford tyres were very helpful when selling the wheels and assured me that if there were any problems with chrome flaking off then the wheels would be replaced under warranty from ROCHFORD tyres. No mention was made about having to send the wheels to wolfrace for inspection. If I buy a digital camera from Currys I wouldn't expect them to send it back to Sony for inspection, they would either replace or refund, so why should buying wheels be any different? Anyway it all turned out ok in the end becuase i paid for the wheels with my CC and they saw fit to refund me, I went and bought a decent (OZ) set of wheels from a decent supplier and all was well. I'm looking for a set of Rs4's now as cleaning the octy standard alloys are a royal pain in the butt.
  11. Decided to do a little test over the past week. Over a 60 mile commute (30 there 30 back). The route is through the peak district (a mixture of A and B roads) aswell as being hilly. day one - extreme 'blue rinse' driving : 43mpg day two - Conservative : 39 mpg day three - Normal : 30 mpg Day four - 'brisk driving' : 25 mpg Day five - nailing it all the time : 18 mpg My usual style of driving falls in the 'brisk' category unless I've got bio nav with me then I fall into the Normal/conservative driving categories. Nailing it is fun but re-fills every 200 miles at
  12. Nice wheel but I wouldn't buy from rochford tyres. Yes they are cheap and when you have a problem with the wheel you will understand why! I bought a set of 17's off them last year and within 2 months most of the chrome had flaked off. When I informed Rochford tyres they said that they would have to be sent back to the manufacturer (wolfrace) for 'inspection'! Bit difficult to do that when you no longer have the original wheels to keep using on the car! They also said that because 1 of the wheels had a very slight evidence of curbing (I mean it was more of a scuff mark no more than 3 cm long) they said that wolfrace wouldn't even accept them for inspection!!! Moral of the story is to buy elsewhere and spend a few pounds extra. :thumbdwn:
  13. 04 plate and no carpet covering speakers. Rich if those carpet cup thingys really help with road noise...I'd like them...I live in Sheffield :
  14. Using my Road angel (Gps) I get about a 10% difference between that and the Octy speedo i.e speedo = 70mph - Road Angel = 63mph.
  15. Supplier : Bulldog Speed : 2048 down | 256 up Monthly Cost :
  16. Gently press the button just above the pink input/output socket and you will find the Bionav is much more compliant....just dont forget to spend time familiarising yourself with the 2 larger modules up top before attempting to find the pink button...malfunction could occur resulting in system failure and non compliance.
  17. To stop it loading on start-up : Start Run type 'msconfig' click startup programs uncheck the box that is named 'hiwire' or similar reboot open IE (work offline) click tools Internet options Connections check box 'always dial my default connection' This should sort it but will not delete it. To delete the program look in your program files and delete it. Always make sure you use a firewall (Black Ice is very good) and run spybot and adaware once a week.
  18. Very informative thread! I would like to thank oilman for the considerable amount of time spent typing up all that stuff about oil...maybe one day I will understand what its all about, maybe even buy some of 'his' oil. Personally I would like to hear a straight answer to a straight question : Which oil should we use for a modded Octy vrs?
  19. 153 mph showing on the road angel (GPS), 160 on the clock, 5800 rpm. First and last time I go that fast....bends appeared where there were none b4
  20. After much confusion with the current alarm I've had installed (Autowatch clam 376) I have decided to switch to the clifford G5 concept 650 (with proxi alert). The autowatch alarm is a Cat1 upgrade and works solely off the octy remote ( ) BUT I have had nothing but hassle with it regarding it arming itself while I am driving resulting me having to get out of the car, lock the doors, unlock and get back in and start her up within 30seconds (otherwise the alarm would re-arm itself). The alarm also armed itself as soon as the engine was turned off or the engine stalled :thumbdwn: . Because of the above I will be having it swapped Foc to the clifford 650. I have been informed tho that the alarm cannot work off the octys remote (by 2 separate pro alarm fitters) and instead will need to be armed using the supplied clifford keyfob, which is the only downside. Didn't ask whether the doors can be unlocked using the clifford so if anyone can help? Also I paid
  21. I picked the Octy up today and O M F G  I just can't stop The warranty issue is also resolved with the dealer ammending my warranty (written) to include the modifications that have been installed by the dealer which will be posted shortly. The traction control/esp has been put through its paces with a sprint through the twisty peak district (lol @ st170 focus..scalp no#1). The mpg is averaging 20 but that comes with the lead boots I've been wearing today . One minor niggle I've had is that the alarm sometimes seems to arm itself when I come to a stop and will not turn off until I get out of the car arm/disarm and get back in...anyone else had this problem with the clifford 650? I ask because I havn't had time to read the manual...to busy driving :P Thx for the advice again guys.
  22. Thank God I found this site...you guys are so helpful. I will get a 'written' warranty...although I'm not sure how to go about this as they would just give me the standard one no?(which takes a harsh tone to mods). Should I accept a dealer warranty if offered or insist that SKODA not GL should warrant my vehicle (as it has 2.5 yrs left on it)? I'm saying this as I presume most dealers will word there warranties along the same lines as the manufacturers (no mods) and for them to reword the warranty without it being approved by some higher source would not be worth the paper it was written on. In short how can they warrant my car with mods inc if the standard warranty dosn't allow? e.g if I took my car elsewhere for repair under warranty...would they honour it? Forgive me for sounding dumb...but this is the first time I've bought a modified motor 'under warrenty'.
  23. Being as it was GL (Skoda dealer) who purchased the mods and had them fitted to the demonstrator and the car was actually advertised as a 'tuned for further performance!' vehicle on there website, I can't see that there would be a problem with any warranty issues as they surely would not have a legal leg to stand on (Being as THEY modified the vehicle, THEY said the remainder of the Skoda warrenty IS applicable even though it had been modified). I do however appreciate that Skoda may/maynot honour the warranty but GL would most definately have to (I think?). They guys at GL seemed a decent bunch (and not just because I was buying a car) so I reckon they were straight up with me but I will however check with them when I pick the motor up on wednesday, sound advice m8, thx. Has anyone else been in the same situation with a dealer 'modifying' a car then refusing to honour any warranty on it?
  24. Oops point taken Still a damn good place to buy a Skoda tho (or a mitsubishi!) as it was actually a mitsubishi salesman (joint dealers I think) that sold me the car. 3 days and counting
  25. Picking up my new Silver Octy RS on Wednesday 29th sept...can't wait tbh. Extras: Zenons, ESP, clifford Cat 1 Mods (all carried out by JBS autodesign on behalf of Skoda i.e warranty intact ) Engine remap Milltek SS exhaust Highflow cat Uprated fuel pump Uprated Dump valve lowered suspension Was gonna get a brand new one as I liked it in black but I saw a used black one and the stone chips looked a bugger. I then saw this one which was more expensive (
