  1. Hi Newbie...well if the consumption was to be expected, why don't all TSI's use oil?? Could they be hedging their bets and just by adding that statement, knowing that not all engines have oil usage issues and that long term damage will be outside warranty anyhow?? Why are they replacing this engine in what is quite a short production run, is it because they know long term this engine is a duffer?? Any particulate exiting out of an exhaust is not going to be good the the cat! Er I'm not familar with the issues regarding ****el's so i don't know if they suffer from long term engine/component damage through exessive oil issues??
  2. Yep financially the oil usage bill isn't a big deal...but what is it doing long term to the engine/CAT etc?? Mines used 6ltrs in 8k now, within VW limits granted, but I'm getting a little concerned by the sooty rear pipes, the flecks of soot on the rear of the boot etc...not good. oh well 4days until in for it's 1st year service, get my concerns recorded then...oh and check the oil level on getting it back
  3. Looks fantastic...Should be vRS standard bonnet!!
  4. My dealer didn't give me one when I collected my car, on the grounds that they'd run out of stock... Contacted Skoda UK to ask for one and then recieved a call from the dealer for my address etc. They sent the wrong cable, but I went to my local Skoda spares dept and they exchanged it for the connection i wanted
  5. Probo these... http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/productdetail.aspx?p_no=BEA710001 price doesn't inc fitting
  6. Mk1 or 2 Fabia?? If 1 then better posting in Mk1 forum I ask as there was a problem with a few rear door seals on the Mk1 Welcome aboard!
  7. The great thing about using VPower is that every quarter they send me a voucher, usually about £3.50 ish dependant on how much I use. This pays for at least one tank full price difference between it and using normal 95ron!!
  8. Just dont go above the 8000 file limit..
  9. I can vouch for Blueflames exhausts/after sales...They changed the back box out on my Clio after I'd had a system fitted but it made my ears bleed...had it for 5yrs with no issues, great price/performance and quality
  10. aaah....so it will be a year old on 9th Sept...QED 20 days till service! Cheers Sharkrider
  11. The car has only done 7.8k miles and had 5ltrs of oil in that time, surely the oil isn't that fooked, it's almost had an oil transfusion?!? (I'm assuming that it only monitors oil condition) Is this a record?? Dumbass question, I assume this is because it's NOT on fixed interval as it should be?? :(
  12. Plastic Bootliner DCE710001 Rubber Bootliner DCD710001 I know Skoda roll up rubber bootliners for packaging and storage. Which hinders the fitment with in boot. naah the mat lays perfectly flat...its the inner lead core sees to that
  13. Ive got the Skoda rubber boot liner, sorry no number...personally if I was buying again I'd buy the plastic one, which is dearer but a hell of a lot lighter...seriously the rubber one weighs a ton!!
  14. Hmm...I use S for traffic light getaways...The reason is that at standstill it idles higher by 300rpm, which i find gives a better launch. I then change with paddles as per everyone else. Whilst in paddle mode I also move the stick into tiptronic, this prevents the box going back into D auto mode. This also allows you to quickly flip it back into D auto mode when at a T junction, so not to have to scrabble for the paddles once past 90deg...
  15. Brilliant effort for a worthy cause! Er any stats available, total ascent, av daily ascent, min/max temps, total calories burnt etc?? I'm off to ride Alpes D'Huez and Ventoux year after next, I'll be quizing you nearer the time... It's not the distance covered, it's the effort to get up and over the mountains, Ventoux(6,273ft) at 9% for 16km must be a RIGHT grind D'Huez (6,000+ft) 8% for 14km, 21 hairpins etc AND THE REST!! Your pics don't show how monumentally hard your trip has been!! Chapeau! :)
  16. Change to an OEM filter or change to an after market K+N type??
  17. I bought 4 tins of Supaguard off ebay..enough for all seats, carpets and boot. Cost about twenty quid..any spills just bead until wiped off
  18. No you WILL over fill if done when cold. EG If you top up to the safe max level ( B ), once warm it WILL be overfilled!! Yes ur right XK140 regarding consistancy, but it's important that ppl realise that filling to max when cold could damage stuff!
  19. Fair comment about the midrange punch, although not really noticed on the ph1's as they were only 1080kg. Gonna have to check these out when they are available.
  20. I don't see anything wrong with George's post as he is just expressing an opinion and that gives a fair and balanced view which could influence a persons decision to say they want one or not. He wasn't going off on a massive tangent talking about chassis strength etc. I suppose these are like strut braces, some people love them, others think they are not neccessary...pays ur money etc
  21. Some VERY interesting links in that thread...looks like the next fix is oil separator/breather rather than piston rings/new engines.
  22. 6.8k miles 5.5ltrs of oil...seems to be using less recently (touch wood)
