This seems to be the same issue I have and tbh... have had it for several years, I'd describe it as a 'squeal' or mine is? Mainly had the issue when reversing up an incline ( not something I have had to do regularly so tended to forget about) , but I have noticed its more recently when trying to put a bit more power down, I have done just notched up 38k today, car is nearly 4 n half years.... I had reported it I think on one of my services whilst under warranty however nothing was done

Advice needed 2.0 VRS Petrol
lozparry replied to philc1210's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I don't think its clouding the issue, Phil (OP) is potently looking at getting a vRS, which the LE is and its out there. I see one near enough everyday that passes me to/from work. True the engine failures is a concern and its a shame Skoda don't admit its an issue. -

Not necessarily true... the pre-facelift LE version launched beginning 09 had the TSI engine. I am not sure but possibly some of the last built of the pre-facelift in 09 came with TSI??? -

Headlight bulb upgrade for Monte Carlo
lozparry replied to Sixty7's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
How can a simple task (renew headlight bulb) be such a pain in the A*$e! One of my Octy bulbs blew last week, so decided to buy a new set and at the same time seen this thread about poor quality lights on the Fabia (daughters) so bought her some too! Mine on the Octy took 5 mins to do... incl pulling lights out. On the Fabia, even the left one was a bit awkward, but that was after struggling for 10 mins trying to do the right one... in the end I gave up.. suffering severe 'spanner rash'! I re-read this thread to eventually see the posts about TDI's and fuel filter . So tonight I tried again and seen that I don't have a socket for the FF bolts.. so back to sq 1! The thing is I can get the hand in.. but I just don't seem to be able to turn anti clockwise, as if its stuck? How is this an owners - DIY job?? -
Handbrake curtain-MOT failure?
lozparry replied to morganic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I had this issue whilst mine was under warranty so was replaced FoC. As soon as I explained the issue to the Service rep at the garage he knew the issue... there is a few threads on here about this... -
good choice... agree best colour.. and reminds me I have to clean mine!

Surely your car is out of warranty anyway, what does it matter? I have had my remap for over 3 years, was done with the STS and I removed every time I took to the dealers whilst it was under warranty, that was mainly just in case they changed something really... my last service was done at an independent an didn't bother removing as it was at a Shark dealers...

Actually meant the Evo triangle

my daughter has the diesel tech version and is now only doing smaller journey's due to job location change, not DPF issues yet! boot is definitely bigger that corsa's... but as above it best to test at a dealers.. even if you are only looking at 2nd hand one they dont know!

How about somewhere like http://www.giler.co.uk/Main.htm, just happens to be next to a familiar driving route . I think I would have to wait until April, when the wife goes away on holiday

You say Mk2 guard yet your car is a MK1 so might be best getting it moved to the MK1 section? When I had a MK1 I did have an oem dg for the MK1, if your question is 'was there one' yes there was, where to get one, guess fleabay or the wanted section on here?

I think its always recommended after any suspension work / mods. I have had mine done twice after my suspension mods have been fitted. I have never suffered any saw-toothing or uneven wear to warrant an alignment check but I know its not that uncommon. I last had mine done a few months ago at Buckley tyre services for about £50.

Just joined first question.

Surprised you haven't seen any especially with Mitchell's in Ellesmere Port, they always seem to be a lot more common once you have one .. visually no different (even badges) to the petrol, tend to see more estates than hatchbacks especially around Chester way. I can't comment on Diesel issues as mine is petrol. -
http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=KCA316 I think this will answer your questions.....

Honeycomb front grill octavia II
lozparry replied to Azman83's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
might be a bit irrelevant now but superskoda do a grill with a slot... http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-II/Octavia-II-facelift-09-11-front-grille-plastic-insert-in-HONEYCOMB-design -
I use Kapersky Internet Security this is free if you have a Barclay's Bank account, and it also covers 3 computers and you can update to the latest version when available!

Hi, I have a stage 1 remap from shark, this takes the std 200bhp up to approx 250bhp and you notice it. This was done after a year of having the car and it having its 1st service. this cost about £400 at the time (3 years ago) with the still freedom 10% discount offer. At the time this was with a free STS unit, I didnt visit shark to get the map as it was emailed to us. I used the STS to remove the map when it went in for a service and reinstalled afterwards just incase it was written over in anyway. I have always reported the map and other mods to my insurance, it cost at the time about £100 a year more. I recommend you go to the tuning section to see all that are available

I had mine done at the same place as Stu.

rear anti roll bar octavia vrs.
lozparry replied to mikejay's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I had a Whiteline ARB and ALK fitted the other month. It has improved the handling, not sure on just the difference without the the ALK though, sorry. The ARB is set to the medium setting -
I had the same issue, I had it replaced under warranty. The rubber gaiter had several creases so was stiff releasing the handbrake

looks nice... congrats seeing those labels on the inside of the windscreen and door glass, reminds me that even my car after 4 years and numerous cleans still shows an imprint of that label on the glass when its steamed\misted up sometimes! Even my daughters has an imprint on her's though I wasn't impressed by the prep work done by the dealer! So make sure they clean it unless like you say you are doing a full detail...

Same for me.. I don't have a spare on my motorhome, got a compressor and some gunge? When I bought my Octy I ordered the optional spare. In the 4 years I have had it I have used it 2 times, fortunately it was only for doing wheel cleaning and swapping front to back after buying new tyres so I didn't have to leave the car on the jack. You couldn't do that with a tin of gunge!
-
Wow, that is some price difference between the Sachs and LUX even with the discount shown FYI... not sure if you know but http://www.unit20.org/ in Neston is a Shark dealer now?

I have owned mine now for just over 4 years from new, its done only 35k. TBH... it's been very reliable, no sawtoothing of tyres or chain failure that some have suffered. It had its 4 yr service recently by an independent, price difference was probably not that much different to Skoda's but I included the changing of the plugs? I did have a gearbox oil seal changed (only thing I have needed and paid for out of warranty). The options I have are leather seats, reversing sensors, auto lights and dimming mirror and the spare wheel. What I should of added was heated seats and maxidot...? I have had a few mods done, mainly the remap that improved the performance, I wish I had the suspension mods done a bit earlier as the handling has improved (significantly I think) if you were thinking of getting anything done ! The timing chain issues is always there as a big concern given the cost of repair and in my case the probability of having to stump up all costs! But I still intend to keep for another year at least... I see no reason to change at the moment as I am very happy with the car.
