  1. It isn't as straight cut as that, have you read the thread?
  2. It's not a direct boost control issue, it's a function that affects boost as part of it's output. That's what makes it so hard to find.
  3. Just answered re strain etc in previous post, looks like we were both posting at the same time. Given that there are a small few cars that seem to be affected (and I test drive nigh-on every car personally) it's just not practical to contact every member and perhaps not as easy as you might think. We don't have emails linked to invoices and we don't have telephone numbers. Not all Octavia VRSs are the same ECU numbers and therefore have different maps, some that might have a possibility of displaying this problem and some without. It would just be a gargantuan task, and probably mostly of little or no gain to customers or us. Therefore we have to assume that things are ok until such a time that we know otherwise Hopefully this week will shed some more light and we'll be closer to a fix.
  4. There's absolutely no safety issue at all, and no extra or undue stress is being caused on any components, so no need to worry.
  5. Well that's the $64,000 dollar question. Simply put some cars do it and some don't. The problem is present on standard software as well as modified software although it is not as pronounced. We're pretty sure it's a function that controls boost that relates to intake air temps. However modifying that function has helped some cars and not others. I hope people can understand that there's no magic wand to wave here. This issue is not caused by our software, it's caused by the standard software, and only seems to be a problem on certain cars. I'm sure we can work around it in mapping. The big problem is that it's easy to point the finger in our direction because we've messed with your car, but as you can see from earlier posts about this in this thread, it is a car issue and not our software and so while we're working to fix this I would really appreciate it if the witchhunt could stop for a little while. That way I can spend more time problem solving and less time on Briskoda and email trying to keep up with it all. We do care, it's 00:05 on a Friday night. How many other tuning companies are offering user support at this time of night
  6. Thanks for your thoughts but with respect what I should be doing is trying to fix the problem rather than causing potentially weeks of administration. I'm 8 days behind on my emails as it is. I appreciate where you're coming from as I do with everyone who is experiencing this problem however we can't fix this without an affected car to work on as not every car is affected. We have tried with OllieH's car and been unsuccessful so far. If someone (rk696) can bring his car to us on Monday then perhaps we will have it nailed.
  7. As stated earlier in the thread it's a problem within the standard software which shows itself on certain cars. It is a car problem although a map (not just ours) can make it worse but doesn't always. There are plenty of cars that don't show this problem but for those that do we are working on a fix, but with limited and infrequent access to an affected car, it does make things difficult and slow.
  8. Bryan You know I'm a straight talking man and to put it bluntly, you can't prepare. It's 13 years this year for me and I still haven't dealt with it all really. If I can give you one single piece of advice, from a friend to a friend: do your own thing. Do what feels right for you. Grief is an immensely personal thing and what you feel and how you deal with things will be different to the rest of your family, and your siblings. So deal with things as you see fit as other people's methods might not work. Lastly, you've got my number if you want to talk or meet up. I'll always make time.
  9. Fair enough, but for the 2 seconds it takes to block a plate out, so what if the owner of that plate would like to? I do, it makes sense to me. If it doesn't make sense to other people, fine, but if someone is looking to clone a silver A4 quattro or silver Vito van, I'm happy that they're less likely to be cloning mine :thumbup;
  10. Surely it's easier for a crim to look on the Internet to find a car than it is to drive around looking for a car of a particular make, colour etc? Sounds stupid but when I need a reg to buy some parts for my car (it's a bit of a hybrid) I just look online for a picture of one of those cars with it's reg showing. Of course that's not for malicious purposes but that method could quite easily be used for cloning a plate and potentially getting away with all sorts of things.
  11. There is no such thing as an untraceable remap for your car!
  12. Yep, Cheryl will put it up on the forum after the bank holiday.. should be a bit warmer and lighter this month!
  13. Right! We really think we have this nailed now but need a car to test it on. This would need to be a live test at the workshop which if sucessful we could roll out to STS users and other workshop customers. Any volunteers?
  14. Gutted I couldn't make it, track taxi having clutch issues, the wheels that arrived for it on Thursday were wrong.. Just couldn't happen in the end. Very pleased about the good result!
  15. Burgers are cooking on the BBQ, this is turning into a bit of a unit party!

  16. Bank Holiday special offers? Give us your ideas!

  17. Lots of reasons for it but its single function is to tell the ECU that you have put your foot on the clutch.
  18. You didn't mention that in the sales pitch!!
  19. Everyone suggests the loom and coil in these circumstances, but I see these all the time and given that the dials are working intermittently it really is likely to be the cluster.
  20. Plastic and you should replace it with plastic
  21. Thanks for the kind words. Immobiliser removal from us is £60. There are companies who fix instrument clusters if you look around the web.
  22. The only way to disable the immobiliser is to remove it inside the ECUs programming. The fault will probably be with your instrument cluster. We can remove the immobiliser for you if you'd like to get in touch.
