  1. Not sure whether I dream this but I am convinced the V6 engine runs smoother and better using Esso fuel. I have tried all combinations but Esso seems to suit the car - interested if others have views on fuel/performance/smoothness.
  2. I have looked into it a couple of times and due to the fact it is naturally aspirated there is little they can do to really hike power and, more importantly, torque. Most reckon you can get 10% increase in power and marginal increase in torque, but I want a remap that pushed the torque down the rev range and that is not available as a remap - you need to do a lot more. I think it would have been better if I had the steering wheel paddles giving me more control, but I keep putting it off now that I am used to it and having covered close to 36K miles in it now. I am still astounded by the realtively good fuel figures it gives on my daily commute - nowhere near a diesel, but impressive for a petrol 3.6 litre engine.
  3. Re: MY god it's quick! I am looking into some sort of power increase though I feel that it does like to hold the lower gears - nothing wrong with the sound of the v6 but it just seems like it could do with not holding on to 2nd/3rd for such a long time through town when I know 4th will be fine. The issue is more to do with Torque than power. If you compare the 170CR to the V6 theTorque of the diesel is far superior in the lower rev band and I have not found anyone yet that has a remap to drop the torque curve lower down the rev range. I too find this a frustration even after 36K miles.
  4. It also charges the phone which is why I specified it, but having to buy the appropriate lead (iPhone, mini usb etc) makes it a very expensive option.
  5. I bought a V9 DVD (NAVTEQ) on t'internet for Western Europe that came with Speed Camera and Traffic Light Monitoring locations as standard selectable options off the Columbus Menu.
  6. I would recommend you get as close to your real mileage as possible and go slightly under as you can never recover the overpayment for services and tyre not used., I have privately "leased" my last three cars and as I do 20,000 miles a year so took out 60K 3 year contracts. My first, an Audi A4 Convertable 1.8T DSG covered 66K miles and I suffered at trade in to a new Skoda Superb (11p penalty charge per additional mile. My second Superb 170 CR DSG Elegance Twindoor passed back with 60 K but they were not happy to give me the full "guarantee" as there were wheel scuffs and stone chips. I then took it to webuyanycar and got significantly more than Skoda offered and I mean signficant! My current a 3.6 V6 Skoda - I not expecting much as the guaranteed residual is so small anyway £500 either way wont amount to much. But back to you main question - they will load the lease price based on mileage, servicing and tyre replacement. BTW I took out tyre contracts on my first two cars and having suffered eight, yes eight, punctures that are not covered I decided to not have it and over 32,000 miles have only replaced the fronts whereas they wanted circa £50 per month for full tyre replacement over life of contract . HTH
  7. I may be wrong but I don't think offers are available on the F/L models yet, especially not the Diesels.
  8. If you go for DSG, I'd advise the hill hold assist as well as the DSG wil roll backwards on an incline unless you are a left foot "braker". Had one Superb without and one with and it is well worth the extra (unless you live in Norfolk or other flat areas). Some Superbs have it as standard - the 170 CR doesn't. Just looked on the site and it is £115 - includes Tyre Pressure Monitor for the Elegance
  9. Not on mine - just a single press opens or closes the blind now - found out by accident as I thought I had to hold the button - that used to annoy me too. I do not use the rain feature as I often came back to the car and the blind had closed. I added the roof option to make the car light and airy. Like the fact that it can be closed via the key fob.
  10. I have posted a couple of times on different threads that I got 22K out of the fronts and the rears are still good at 30K. Tyres were Continental 3's on delivery and the fronts changed to 5's. Having covered just over 8K on new fronts I'd say that they will be as good as the old tyres in terms of wear. 5's are quieter at around 50 mph. To put my journey in context, I drive 43 miles each way to/from work daily, in the morning all A roads and in the evening A/M roads. Weekend is all urban driving.
  11. Absolutely - a 170 CR 4x4 DSG L&K is top of the list
  12. My 3.6 V6 4x4 DSG Combi has now covered 30,000 miles in 17 months and 5 days. It has consumed 1,002.25 gallons of fuel (as at last re-fill) and has averaged 29.663 mpg (I expected nearer 25). It was never going to be a cheap car to run, but it has surprised me. The front tyres were replaced at 22,000 and the rears are original and still good. I am on high service intervals and it has had a service at 18,900 mile and consumed 1 Ltr of additional oil. I have had to pay the eyewatering £460 car tax, but insurance this year was only £250 with hte AA. Having got the car VAT free the overall costs are more than I would like to pay, but at the time they did not have a 170CR 4x4 DSG, but the engine, cruising and quiet nature of the car make it a joy to drive every time I sit in it. Problems 1 puncture - not fault of the car slight ticking noise from right side of car, noticeable at idle only - to be investigated at next service I'd love to try the new 3.6 as it is a) cleaner CO2 and more economilcal. i am intrigued as to how they have achieved this and whether they have compromised the car in any way by messing around with the gearing. Town driving is it's worst feature - fails to get out of 4th. Would I have another - as I will be close to retirement, most probably not (running costs), but with my driving pattern I would not hesitate to recommend it - it is in all respects Superb.
  13. Managed 400 miles on a tank of fuel for the first time this week, helped by a run down to the south coast. Maxidot showed a 36.2 mpg round trip (about 8% optimistic) for 192 miles. Just about 54 litres to fill up.
  14. Just coming up to 30K Miles in my 3.6 over 18 month period and the average consumption is 29.611. Front tyres replaced at 22K, rears still good for a few more miles. From these figures you can guess I am on long service intervals (18,000 ish) - only had one. Also staggeringly, my insurance is under £260 this year. A great car, but now they have the 170CR 4x4 DSG, I will not have another
  15. This is a change to the facelift model line-up as previously you could only get the 140 CR as a 4x4 DSG. Yours would be a facelift model.
  16. At last. Configuring a new Skoda Superb yesterday evening on the website I noticed they have introduced the 170 CR 4x4 with DSG in place of the 140 CR as an option. I was looking to defect, but I may have to stay now they have this option.
  17. 28,000 in my Combi 3.6 V6 DSG 4x4 since 21st Jan 2012 61 Reg Previously 60,000 in almost 3 years in 09 reg 170 CR Twin door
  18. Totally agree, as I have said in many posts " .......oh how I wish the V6 had the low down torque of a 170CR Diesel ............" I'd be an even happier man David.
  19. I believe you get out of a device what effort you put into it. Bit like configuring your home PC with favourite web sites etc., I have used the Columbus on the 2009 Twindoor with 4/5 digit postcode and a 2012 with full post code and voice recogntion. 2012 version was quite a step up for me anyway. I have persevered with voice recongition and now use it for all destintation entry/radio/audio/phone commands. it sometimes frustrates but I can set it on the move which I find useful.. I have created a library of often used journeys - i use it every journey for traffic and re-routing guidance. I find the stop-over and route guidance stuff great and I have absolutely no issue with someone telling me "to stay on this road for a long time", rather than being told at every junction to keep right. It's not perfect - there are many things I would like done differently, but I like the convenience of it being integrated into the car
  20. Not sure why Kessy is more vunerable. I do not have to press the key fob to gain entry which is how the thieves appear to be latching on to the radio signals. Also car cannot be driven without key in car so they would have to have a device that continually transmits. Agree it's easier to start if you are in and you can fool the electronics that you have a key in the car. I like Kessy (not the price, however) and will take it again on my car car for the sheer convenience.
  21. I was discussing in the office today about recent improvements in fuel consumption and I had said "since the new tyres were fitted" and got the usual torrrent of verbal abuse, but I am seeing an improvement. My commute home this evening showing 35mpg on the maxidot for my 45 mile journey. Definitely agree about the quieter nature of the tyre and the sweetspot speed.
  22. Yes I did - the 5's and not the 3's and I must confess having done 300 miles over the weekend I would have to say they are quieter. As mt driving is hardly ever stop/start twn driving as long as I get around 20K miles I'll be happy.
  23. Just my luck, got a puncture in the front and had to change the fronts the day I posted this. Tyre place confirmed rears have got plenty left. Also remarked that tread wear on fronts was very even saying that tracking check was unecessary (don't fix it if if isn't broke they said)/
  24. My 3.6 4x4 has covered 22,000 miles and will do at least another 2-3,000 on its' first set of Continentals at front, even more at the back. I average 55 miles a day mostly A and M roads. All depends on the journey's, I have been very impressed. My diesel 170CR was worse at only 18-19,000 per set at front on similar Continentals.
  25. Ray, like you, I clean my seats regularly to keep them looking good, but what do you use on the seatbelt webbing ?
