  1. My S2 elegance estate also does the full open windows with open button and total closure windows and fold mirrors with lock button held. Think this has been a VAG group feature for decades. Folding mirrors are new to me so can’t confirm how long that’s been a thing. Our 2013 Leon also folds mirrors ok lock hold. I do notice with envy some cars automatically fold mirrors on lock without the need to hold buttons. Then again I only fold mirrors where I feel there is a risk of then being clipped
  2. Yes we are neighbours it seems. Also Octavia and S2 owners also I have one of those round sub enclosures self powered can fit under the front pax seat. There is loads of room under them seats. So taping into the front left side is maybe the way for me so Colours would be nice if you have them. Also where do you get the blue cable sub on type signal from. Used to be called electric aerial signal back in the day.
  3. Nice write up and lovely fit without taking away space from the car. Are there any other places you can tap into the speaker wires you are aware of near the front of the car?
  4. Not from personal experience as not driving my s2 at the moment. Could it be the DMF causing said vibrations? This is a 2WD car right?
  5. I believe the general consensus was don’t mess with an airbag as it’s dangerous. Cover the current badge with a stick on of sorts. Even if you managed to remove, whatever you replace it with could be flying in your face at the speed of light if the airbag went off in an accident.
  6. So you needed to replace the EGR as well as the pipe ?
  7. It always surprised me that TPS a wholly owned subsidiary of VW group(as they say on all paperwork) could not get the correct filter insert by reg or chassis number. You have to tell them if you have a UFI or Mann housing first. Watch out for the dreaded filter housing rot. Keep the top where the pipes are free from rust. The housings are over £200 new.
  8. Keep. 102k Miles is nothing for that car. Yes things will go wrong but hopefully nothing too expensive, what you save on depreciation you may spend on some repairs. Nothing gives the bang for the buck this vRS gives with economy to boot. These will become collectors items if not already and yours is a keeper
  9. I think age and miles, inc usage has a lot to do with it. My 2005 Octy 2 with 246k on it has done 210k of motorway miles in all climates. The bottom is looking really rusty loads of components like the rear arms. Body rust where the body meets the rear bumper. Sills rusting in places presume where the bitumen has been compromised in a few places. Car looks a lot nicer now @vborovic
  10. These schedules are aimed at the fleet cars. People who want the best out of their private motor vehicle will be changing them sooner. I also ignore the recommendations and change a lot sooner. Looking at the state of some of the old ones for the cost it’s worth changing regularly.
  11. Isn’t the travel mode also something configurable in the maxidot?
  12. This is a 1.8TSI engine? I thought they are known to be troublesome in regards to oil consumption and other issues associated with that. There is a sticky at the top of the mk2 forum
  13. Have you made sure your light switch is on auto rather than on. I believe AFS lights only work in that position. There is a you tube video about it, looked like a Skoda advert.
  14. G12/ G13 sometimes has a plus on the end. it’s red out of the bottle and looks pink diluted.
  15. I recommend getting it scanned for codes ideally with VCDS. There is a map on the forum, hopefully a few helpful members on here.
  16. How many miles on the car? I had this for 2 reasons over the years, might help 1. The sensor wire near the oil filter housing I believe for coolant temp got trapped in the housing when oil filter changed. Repair to wire solved it. 2. Last month EGR vacuum pipe split near EGR causing same issue. Repair cut short and reroute to avoid running under the engine cover.
  17. Not noticed this on a 2005 elegance without the obvious memory stuff like seats because they are not electric. However my Superb 2 has memory seats with the key. Maybe even memory mirrors. Like most stick to just 1 key majority of the time, recently have had both keys used on the Octy not come across differences. Can’t wait to see who else noticed and from what year this commenced 👍
  18. If you replace the sensor it needs to be calibrated there is another term for it. If you search for one of my Superb 2 posts I had it done at a VAG Indi
  19. I was thinking on going 5w40 as it’s actually on fixed servicing. However what’s the difference between 5w30 and 5w40. And what characteristics might my engine show upon changing oil. Maybe it might benefit from a change of grade as well as benefit my wallet as I buy my own oil?
  20. This is after major engine work. Is there news emerging about troubles with this engine here ?
  21. I have the same 5F 1.2 as you at about 43k. How has your oil usage been since your last post. I noticed since last years July service it’s drunk some oil. Can’t recall but I don’t believe it was any where near or over a litre. Car is used for local driving only. And lately less and less. This issue occurred before lockdown. Going in for a service so do I stick to long life 3 5w30 or the recommended quantum 5w40 platinum oil. It’s been treated to LL3 last year even though we are on 10k or less annual servicing. The purchasing garage used some Shell or similar 0w30 can’t recall what. All these grades are confusing. My 2 Skodas I managed to work out what’s best and had the best results.
  22. I ordered one off eBay and all I wanted was the registration and no makers name for the front of the S2. It was a plastic one to replace the delaminated factory one. It was not classed as street legal. Nothing about what they made or what I asked for was illegal spacing etc. No documents needed to be provided.
  23. Hope I won’t get shot by the detail or Briskoda police. I seem to have a problem only on SWMBOs car a 2013 Leon with persistently returning marks on the alloys. Not happened on any of my other cars, must be the way the alloy is shaped. I am not a detailer or spend a lot of time cleaning my cars. But there is tar on the body thrown up by the wheels and on the wheels. I don’t want to use wonder wheels horrible stuff. It will clean wheels better than anything. I have some Chrome fallout which seems to do it slowly but not completely off the wheels. Also some other well known red bleeding wheel cleaner alkaline stuff. So what is the one product that will shift this stuff quickly and with one application from the wheels. And also what can I use safely on the bodywork to remove tar spots. Hopefully without breaking the bank. Thanks
  24. All, Interesting one on the 175k miler Octy today. went for local drive at 16:15 and had the windows open nice warm day. kept smelling diesel. assumed it was an external issue on the roads, first hot day in a while on the local roads. Got back home through some local slowish traffic thought I would park up and check the engine bay. Low and behold the airbox was caked in diesel fuel and most of that side of the car. Started it up and fuel was squirting from the small length of rubber hose that is fed from the fuel filter across the top of the engine in metal and converts into a small rubber hose into what might be the Tandem Pump on the right side of the engine. I knew it would be a simple fix just replace the bit of hose and 2 of those weird hose clamps VW group use on everything. I chickened out and called the AA and they came out observed the same issue and struggled to remove the pipe as one side of the clamp/clip could not be squeezed open, so needed to be taken off with some force. New slightly lesser diameter generic pipe put in place cut to size and new clamp went on one end as a jubilee clip gave up as soon as it was tightened up. Car was started without issue except a slight gurgling I heard when it primed when I put the ignition on. Taking a look at the faulty part the hose gave way right next to the hose clip on one end, I even think it was the end with the broken clip, perhaps that was the cause I asked the AA Patrol to clean up the diesel that had fallen down onto the gearbox, he said there was not much and just used some tissue to dry some of it saying the rest would evaporate etc. I was told it was the inlet side of the fuel system and the other side is operated at much higher pressures. I could not find another post on the subject on the forum Worth keeping an eye out on older cars maybe its an age thing these parts perishing?
