  1. No, but this post reminded me that i was going too. 2 ordered and hopefully with me soon.
  2. Got the top, bottom and rear arb done at the same time so cant tell you which made the biggest difference, all i know is the handlng is much better. Check out this link for a good guide to fitting, someone on here passed it to me and its pretty concise. I had mine all fitted for me, but i think they used a bolt and nut on the top front and drilled it through, bolt from underneath and nut on top (i think, without gong outside to look) hope this helps. http://www.seatcupra.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=509&Itemid=6
  3. Can recommend the whiteline antiroll bar. Made a huge difference. Just have mine in the middle setting. As for driver training, recommend that too, the advanced course teaches you more than you imagine and it does improve driving and fuel economy, enjoyment etc.
  4. Just remember to argue your case and put down all the reasons why yours was worth more money, anything aftermarket (that you'd declared) above average condition, low mileage etc etc.
  5. I thought the forge split r gave the whoosh sound and didn't put the engine management light on? but you could also turn it silent by putting the blanking plug on?
  6. Looks like a def right off. I think most insurance companies work on a half to 2/3 its market value, before saying its beyond economical repair. A full rear end respray will probably be close to 1k, labour at around 50 an hour, then it doesn't take much to quickly add up, and obviously thats before any parts, re jig of chasis etc. Sorry to hear it before xmas, but as said above and no doubt loads have said, atleast your ok. Its no comfort though as i'm sure your livid that your cars been smacked by some inconsiderate idiot not concentrating enough!
  7. Whiteline 22 on mine, couldn't believe the difference in handling.
  8. have just had 2 new 452's fitted on the fronts on my vrs. We've had some pretty bad snow up here and the grip has been better than expected on a £63 tyre (camskill.co.uk), all the more impressive saying that they were fitted on fri and so have had to scrub in, in snow and ice conditions!!! Needless to say i've not had chance to try them in the dry so cant comment on how they perform against the contis that were previously on it.
  9. I had some cibies on my frontera (dont laugh it was a wicked car, even if a little thirsty) anyway, they were extremely useful especially living in the sticks and if i could have them on any car and make them look good, then i would. the difference in what you can see ahead is well worth any slight blight on the look of your car. As for these, i dont think they look too bad at all, bit of a rally look about it now, if you could make some sort of bracket that was easy to attach for the winter months, i'd do it myself. Beats all the chavs that but some crappy ring blue fog light and drive round with them on because they think it looks cool. and answer me this, when did you actually use your fog lights in fog and think to yourself, wow that makes such a difference!!! And ths there is your answer, use them because it better illuminates the road, and the only way to do that is whack some great big cibbies on the front........sorry go tinto a bit of a rant there!
  10. Im after a replacement panel air filter, following a recent oil change and so i dont have to worry about changing it again, but wonder if there is any difference between these 2? Price wise the K&N is a tenner more, but is this actually worth it. Its going in a standard 51 plate octavia vrs with no other engine mods, however a forge 007 will be going in soon, if this makes any difference? Cheers
  11. I'm also interested in one of these, looks like a cheap and effective mod.
  12. Sorry to hijack this thread but is there actually any difference between a k&n or pipercross panel filter as the piper best price is £34 and the k&n is £44!!!
  13. Ah right, thats interesting as i guess being nieve i thought i could request any semi or full synthetic? Cheers will leave it down to the garage as they're more than competent to sort out my incompetence!!!
  14. Cheers for all these replies everyone. I'm going to take it in for an oil flush and change etc this week (get some 5/30magnatec in) and then keep monitoring from there. There are no drops anywhere on the drive but there is some under the engine cover around what looks like a sensor into the block on the right hand side. Will get them to check it out for me. thanks again
  15. Well i ordered 2 452's, £133 with delivery (cant complain at that price....unless theyre rubbish that is!). Will try and get them fitted this week as they should be here tomorrow and then see how i get on. Lord knows if the weather forecast is correct, they will get a testing this coming week!
  16. How much oil do you use, how often do you top up? I've read somewhere that with spirited driving you can use as much as a litre every 1000 miles, does this seem right? I've got a 51 vrs and noticed that i'm using more than i thought i would and cant see any obvious oil leak anywhere? i wouldn't say its driven hard, maybe a blip every now and again when i'm bored (or late!) Cheers
  17. I got both front and rear brake box's from these guys for my old volvo and didn't have any isses with them if that helps.
  18. Hi, Am after 2 new tyres and unfortunately due to xmas its on a slight budget. Have seen some Falken 452's, Cooper 2xs, Avon zz3 and Vredestein sportrac 3 on Camskill.co.uk. Anyone had any experience of these. Need to get them ordered as soon as really so any adivce would be much appreciated. Forgot to say its on a standard vrs with just minor suspension mods. Thanks in advance
  19. Hi, My rear washer doens't seem to be working, to be honest it hasn't since i bought it 2 months ago but i've been quite lazy. Is it hard to fix and how do you go about it? Cheers
  20. Think they're very impressive subtle but stylish. And best of all when they're off they're hardly noticable. Like them a lot and very tempted, just gotta see if fleabay has any simlar in the uk.
  21. Cheers for that, they look alright, how are they performing? What difference does the zinc plating make?
  22. Well took it into the garage and after an hour of up/down on the ramps and a test drive they couldn't put their finger on exactly what was wrong with it and causing the noise. They say there is a slight dragging on the disc or maybe a problem with the bearing, so are recommending changing both and seeing if that resolves it. Failing that they are at a complete loss!!! Awsome, bang goes then mod money, just as i was starting to get things done! Are the bearings on octavias all the same or does the vrs have a different size? Just wondering if i can buy it off fleabay and get them to fit it as i'm sure this will be cheaper than them supplying. Also does anyone know if these discs will fit/or have bought them. It says they're for a tdi vrs which i can only assume is the mk2 one, however the dimensions seem the same and they are obviously at an attractive price. Octavia vRS TDi Drilled Grooved Brake Discs Front 04- on eBay (end time 17-Nov-09 12:47:19 GMT) Thanks in advance
  23. Dont quote me, but i wouldn't have thought so as long as the brakes meet the required minimum force when placed on the rolling road. After all the lights on the dash are for indication/notification that somethings not right.
  24. from looking straight/side on, there is no difference and if i put my hand on top of the tyre 12 oclock i ran reach behind so there is no rubbing there. I hit it at approx10.30/11 oclock kind of angle so unfortunately not straight on. I've not used the spare before so will try this too, but the noise started as soon as i'd hit the kerb before i put the spare on. I've looked at the track rod and drive shaft and cant see any obvious kinks, nicks etc. Im thinking possibly damaged the wheel bearing in some way as the noise is obviously due to something rotating and not vibrating as stationary/revving the noise isn't there. i appreciate it hard to diagnose without seeing/hearing it. guess i'm just wanting some ideas so i can prepare myself for a hefty repair bill!!! I guess worse case scenario is driveshaft, best case is wheel bearing! The annoying thing was i'd saved £350 for a remap (early xmas pressie) and now thats clearly gonna go elsewhere! Doh
