  1. Had the good ol engine management light come on the other day and apparently this was down to faulty o2 sensor and engine running too rich. The AA man reset them and its not come on since. However im also getting the ASR light come sporadically, say every other day and it doesnt seem to be linked to anything in particular, i.e hard revs or cold etc. After searching on here am i right in thinking that these 2 could be linked to a leaky vac pipe or something? As i said the o2 fault hasn't come on again which seems a bit strange. Any help would be appreciated before i take it into the garage....the orange ASr light messes up the nice green look of the dials
  2. Yeah i thought about that, however i've already had to change my policy this year since moving address as zurich said they wouldnt cover my car now its parked on the roadside!!!! Fricking hate insurance companies, they will rocket even more when the bills from all the bumps in the snow start trickling through. Think i'll leave it till nov when policy renews and in the meantime i can justify getting the coilovers as they'll cover them It just really ticked me off as a rarb is nothing compared to a supercharger which is on their stupid list!
  3. Being 19, what did the insurance co add to your premium when you told them about all the mods?
  4. I was charged £90. Think it was £42 or something for the bearing and the rest labour, took them about an hour and half.
  5. Just before xmas i kerbed my car and had a similar noise. A rumble coming form the front nearside which i'd hit, started noticing around 30ish mph. Took it to the garage who checked tracking, tyres etc. Their was no play in the wheel to signify bearing trouble, however stated that some of the internals on the bearing or hardening or something like that could be chip/damaged or whatever. Anyway in the end replaced the bearing which solved the problem and not had any noise since.
  6. Called my insurance company to declare my tinted windows on the vrs, which was fine no extra charge. Whilst i was on i thought i'd ask about the top front strut brace and rear arb that "are to be fitted tomorrow" (actually already fitted! whoops). Well after going through to the under writers, they would not insure me with these items as they are not on their list of accepted modifications!!!!!! i can have a supercharger, bodykit, engine remap with upto 50% bhp increase, lowered suspension and various other mods, but not an extra safety feature for the car.....im fuming and have had to remove the items (due to guilty conscience, and sods law stating that i'd crash and then have a voided policy!) So now im' gonna have to wait until nov when the policy is due for renewal to fit them. Has anyone had any problems when declaring mods?
  7. hahaha its all coming back to me now......i think i need to look on ebay for a calibra!!!
  8. Cheers Westallc, i asked for that one, maybe whilst i'm at it i can get some round lights for the front and back. As for the advantage.......bugger all i think, infact probably sweeps less Maybe its the ol boyracer in me coming back to haunt my impending mid life crisis. Now where was that porsche brochure?
  9. Came across this whilst surfing on fleabay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Golf-Mk-4-Brand-New-Storm-Single-Wiper-Kit_W0QQitemZ220545473426QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item335988db92 Was always quite a fan of the ol mono wiper dtm look. Anyone know if the wiper linkage on the mk4 is the same as the octavia, or anyone fitted one to theirs? cheers
  10. Nice one. Just think of the fun you'll have a traffic lights with everyone that thinks its just another skoda!
  11. Experiencing this at the moment, it'll start go upto about 1200 revs, then as soon as i try to move off it dips down to bugger all and nearly cuts out, have to slip the clutch to move off, or leave it a minute or so. I think there was a post on here saying it was a common problem and to try cleaning throttle body first and then temp sensor or similar. Check over the last few recent pages. Going to try and sort mine next weekend. Funily enough it didnt do it this morning and it was minus 3.5 here!
  12. Cheers for both those suggestions, i'll have a look tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  13. Here you go have a look on this thread, a few pics and ideas. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/148231-do-many-have-the-briskoda-stickers-on-their-cars/page__hl__stickers
  14. There was a thread running somewhere on the octavia 1 forum i believe where loads of people posted where their stickers were, i'll see if i can find it. Mine personally are one each side on the side skirts near the back. A bit discreet.
  15. Was going to ask exactly the same, looks very nice, though still dont like the wheel nuts......could they not have done them black for you at the same time? Billy, your pics have just reminded me that i need ot order a splitter on monday. Cheers
  16. I've still not sorted mine, it doesn't work and yet if i use it there is no water evident in the boot or anywhere else that i can tell! Any suggestions?
  17. Would this not do the same thing if you stuck it on the top of the column, with heavy duty double sided? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gauge-Pod-Dash-Single-Flat-Dashboard-Mount-Black_W0QQitemZ200376991760QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2ea7664010
  18. Hi, I've just got hold of a pipercross panel filter and when i've searched, people mention de-finning the airbox. Now i'm sure when i open the airbox this will become obvious, but does anyone have any pics of what their's looks like just so i know before getting the dremel out!!! Cheers
  19. Is that CAI, one from ebay thats £40/£50? If so is it any good?
  20. Is it simply larger discs and the brakets to remount the calipers? Sounds interesting, how big a dent in the wallet?
  21. The place wasn't called "Garage of the Conchords" or something, were they called Jermaine, Bret or Murry?
  22. Been thinking exactly the same thing for mine, umming and aahing, 51 plate with 85k on, standard apart form susp mods. Have read all the post and know that coils are probably the first thing to go. Guess as long as the place is reputable, you pay your money and take your chance. Haven't heard anything negative about getting it done apart from maybe decrease in life expectancy of certain parts. But at a guess if its just for the occasional right foot moment its not going to wear things down that much quicker, but on another point, if the engine is weak somewhere, this will show it. Was going to look at rs tuning as they're only a few miles away, however at that price from shark its tempting even with the extra fuel cost the drive back would be fun!
  23. Would be interested too. Wonder if there is anything from the aero industry that would work, they seem to have stickers for everything on planes? Obviously i'm pretty sure they dont use trolley jacks on 747's but might have something that suits.....as i bet they have YTS workers there that dont know any different
  24. Where did you get your components from? Were they simply just unscrew old ones and put new ones in or was there any rewiring required?
  25. Are these the same size and thickness as normal plates, just wondering if they'll fit in my plate holders? cheers
