Lithium does not fall into the accepted definition of a "rare earth" element Rare Earth elements but the elements used to make the fixed magnets in the electric motors "stronger" most definitely do fall within the accepted definition, most notably Neodymium, Praseodymium and Samarium.

I had, it seems wrong, assumed that the switched feed was positive? However, that fault code could also mean that the power feed to the injectors is intermittent.

Without a recognised key the immobiliser won't be unlocked and the ECU functions will be enabled, so at best the engine will fire for a few seconds and then stop -so it will IMHO be a waste of time and effort.

Won't do you a lot of good - the ECU controls whether the electrical fuel pump runs, the injector timing and amount (no mechanical injection pump here), the position of the actual throttle valve in the intake (yes modern diesels do have a "throttle" valve and there's no physical connection between the pedal and the valve). So yes you can hot wire the ignition on, but the engine cannot run without the fuel pump running, fuel being injected or with an intake with the throttle valve stuck in the idle position.

Even when brand new a car with a 150bhp engine won't have produced much more than 110bhp at the wheels, since power is quoted as measured on an engine dynamometer not a vehicle dynamometer so you need to take account of the 25% average transmission losses. So 80-90bhp is only a 20% loss over the years. Shows how little knowledge most people have of how ICE vehicles are specified.

Have you looked at and tested the connection where the injector wiring connects to the chassis - I'm thinking looseness or corrosion?

That's not an accurate summary, climate change has happened over the billions of years that Earth has existed, from the much wamer climate when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth (with CO2 levels as high as 6%) and there is documented evidence of climate change in the middle ages (a warming event) and in the 17th(?) Century there was the little Ice Age when the River Thames froze over. What is well accepted is that post industrial emissions have created a man made warming event - but it is not the only warming event that has happened nor possibly the largest warming event that has ever happened.

SE trim level isn't the factor, it's whether the electronics platform is designed with OTA in mind. The Octavia 3 can't do OTA but the Octavia 4 can - given the design date of the Scala I doubt it can do OTA.

Beware of using those, you don't know what changes they are making and because Skoda make many running changes you cannot be sure they will do what you want on your car - there have been many posts on here where owners have used one of those and it's caused unwanted side effects. IMHO always do it the manual way making the changes directly yourself, then if something does go wrong you know how to revert it.

The vent plug should only need to blow out in the event of overcharging - so I stand by my comment that you need to get the charging system looked at - first step is to check the voltage with a multimeter with the engine running, if it's over 15V then you definitely have a problem.

You can buy it a 3 VIN version and purchase an extension to 10 VINs or unlimited - depending on your need. Software updates are free for as long as you own a genuine VCDS cable (so there's no reason not to keep it updated) - current cables are the HEX-V2 (USB only) and HEX-NET (USB and WiFi).

@AndyC13 I would get your alternator & BMS checked out as it might be overcharging if it can do that to a battery in only 4 weeks.

I would disagree that the morality of those is questionable, they all encourage people to help improve/protect the environment and since we are officially in a climate emergency I would argue measures such as those are morally required, definitely not questionable.

You need to get a fault code scan done, there are so many reasons why the engine management light can come on so it's really impossible to guess.

Charging a battery isn't 100% efficient so the energy taken out of the battery by climbing a hill won't be fully replaced by regenerative energy put back when going down the same hill. Charging efficiency of a LiIon battery is typically 95-97%, much better than a lead acid battery which is closer to 80%.

Specifically the Amundsen will only read sat nav maps off a Skoda or VAG SD card.
