What have you done to your Superb III today?
Despite what the news outlets have reported, France wasn’t “unsafe”; the protests and rioting was restricted to a few small areas in Paris and elsewhere. Friends who live in Paris have said they’ve seen nothing of the issues.

272 Superb OPF stageIII
Nice one RoscIo and it’s great that you’ve kept the Superb. Briskodian Prykey, who was the original owner of our 280, part ex’d it for a new Mustang GT in Feb ‘21 and it went to the block. It was bought by George Kingsley, a performance car specialist in Chelmsford and I bought it from them in March ‘21.

Child lock error
And it’s exactly reasons such as this which means I’ll never use a franchise dealer again…

Superb 2017 radar
It’d be helpful if you tell us the model and year and add a pic of the sensor and broken bit?

Headlights low and reverse cameras
Hmmmm. Well, on the basis they’ve been adjusted by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing too, by the sound of it, I’d get it to a local respected VW indy and get them to check the headlights, because the xenons on ours are great.

Headlights low and reverse cameras
How long have you owned the car? What makes you think it’s set to low?
-
Petrol lid does not open
Must be different on the PHEV iv. Only our MKI had a lecky fuel flap release.

Wiper blade hitting the drivers A pillar, removing paint
Boy, I wish I’d kept SWMBO Panda 4x4 given how much they’re now worth. Loved that car, but the rear diff was so noisy, thought it was time to say goodbye…🙄

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Thanks JR. So the TPW went off today on the NSR. When I got home, I found there was a large screw on the centre of the tread, which was good as at least it wasn’t the sidewall, which would’ve killed the tyre. I thought this was a bit weird, so I checked the other tyres and the bloody NSF also had the same type of screw imbedded in the tyre! So I went to a local indy tyre supplier and they repaired both punctures for £30. Bit of a crappy week as I found a small but deep dent, which has removed the paint, at the bottom of the NSR door too. 🙄

What’s the benefit of updating the firmware, JR?

Wiper blade hitting the drivers A pillar, removing paint
I just checked mine Graham, in it stops 12mm from the edge of the plastic windscreen moulding at the top of the screen. 20-25mm will be far too much, and it’ll foul at the bottom of the screen.

Wiper blade hitting the drivers A pillar, removing paint
Don’t botch it, Graham - get one of these. Easily cracked the stuck-fast arms off the splines on the MKI and II.

Wiper blade hitting the drivers A pillar, removing paint
Worth a try. Is there any play in the arms when it’s parked? Also put it in the service position, so turn the ignition on, then off and then immediately push down and hold the wiper stalk and the wipers will rise and park vertically on the screen. Check again for any play in the mechanism.

Noise inside the car after starting the engine
Hmmmm…. So it seems like it has to be engine or ancillaries, but what runs at a constant speed?
-
Lots of Errors on dashboard
Could also be a wheel sensor. Ours had all those faults when the NSR sensor failed.
-
Noise inside the car after starting the engine
Yeah, that’s really annoying. So it stays at a constant pitch, regardless of engine speed? I’m guessing as well as the AC, you’ve also turned off the ventilation fan to eliminate that?
-
Engine shake and rattle
Hmmm, to my untrained ears it just sounds like a diesel. @Justgenius, perhaps you could record and drop a vid, but without the hugely distracting constant movements of the OP’s?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
We could just get my wifes MKI Fiat Panda in our garage, which was built by the first owner of our house in 1946, to keep their Austin 7. Actually, I should add I had to climb through the hatchback to get out, having left the garage doors open! Oh yeah, there’s an inspection pit in there too! I’d love to have a double garage to keep our 280, where I could store and clean it, however the cost would be prohibitive I suspect. Does anyone know the cost estimate of a concrete brick garage with a corrugated roof?

How To Fix Guide - Intermittent Or Phantom Steering Wheel Controls
Great guide, AS; this’ll be very useful when the controls fail again in the future! 😁👍🏻

Took the car to Wheelbase on Sat to secure a courtesy car and collected the 280 today after they’d replaced the water pump etc. Bloody ridiculous; the cost of parts were over £480.

Superb Mk4
Too little in the way of a “new” design to get me interested TBH, given how the MKIII was such a radical improvement in every way from the MKII; I’ll be sticking with the 280.

Yeah, mine was a 110 mile round trip a day. Miss that like I’d miss a migraine…
