  1. This is the fix. You’ll need VCDS / OBD11, or contact one of the members here who have it, to help you out.
  2. Yep, it was staining and slight damp on the alternator which alerted the indy who looks after the 280, to the leaking pump; prepare yourself for a big bill.
  3. Thanks @Macsamillion. £45 is excellent. Did that include duty and tax? Either way I’ll be getting a set given the failure rate. Weird that the Dodge Hellcat uses an identical system, given Dodge is a brand owned by a major competitor, Stellantis.
  4. I’d imagine without it being on a lift, it’d be almost impossible to get enough heft to get it back on the hanger. It maybe possible if you get it on a set of wheel ramps? I wonder if penetrating oil put on overnight might’ve helped in the removal of the Nylok nuts? Its so typical of manufacturers not to protect components like these which are subjected to constant poor weather conditions and extremes of heat; 6 rubber caps would’ve stopped them corroding. Ahhh well. Just for ease of members, would it be possible for you post the details of the company which supplied the spring in the US? Also the springs they advertise seem to be a different shape to those on the 280, so is there any specific info one needs to provide to them so they supply the correct ones and finally, an approximate cost?
  5. 😂 Would’ve been ridiculous but alas no: her sister was called Zanthea.
  6. My mate went out with and then married a girl called Candice Hunt… absolutely true.
  7. Yes, there are airbag thefts but it’s nowhere near on the scale of Cats and the cars themselves. It’s a very amateurish scaremongering communication piece.
  8. Interesting. The 280 in Switzerland is £64k at Fridays closing exchange rate 😳 (Dunno what spec that is) vs around £45k for the L&K in the U.K. Also (and this doesn’t make sense, does it?) the Swiss WLTP = 32mpg, which would be close to reality on say a 20 mile mixed drive, but the one shown by cnc shows the U.K. figure at 34.6? So much for “Harmonisation”.
  9. Albeit the 280 is actually 276 of course, but I hear ya😁
  10. …and every BMW / Audi / Mercedes driver will be gunning for you…
  11. Are these the OE units? If so I’ve got a number of them. Drop me a PM with your address and I’ll stick one in the post to you.
  12. Jeesus - you need to get to A&E quick-smart matey!
  13. I'm sure the failure rate is actually very low and I wouldn't be without ours, especially with the virtual pedal. It's fantastically convenient when you're carrying bulky items, or using both hands to carry "stuff".
  14. No workshop manual will solve an issue like this. I suggest you seek a reputable local independent VW dealer and get them to scan it for faults.
  15. Update added, including a sound file!! 😂
  16. Here’s a little sound file so you can hear the grawnch on action! Squeaky Wipers.mp3
  17. So that’s a visit to a good independent or, unfortunately, a Skoda dealer.
  18. So I’ve tried scraping the glass with a blade and nothing came off. Also tried some whizz-bang Japanese windscreen cleaner… which made the wipers judder like billyo so off that came - and changed the rubber blades and they still squeak in exactly the same way as the ones they replaced. I’ve bought some cerium oxide so I’m going to try that with a DA at the weekend.
  19. Y’wot? Even your tyres?? 😳
  20. Yep, certainly sounds like exactly the same issue a friend had on his GT TDI Golf.
  21. Helpful, together with being wholly inaccurate.
  22. Unfortunately, that email won’t give you an form of warranty if the belt fails.
  23. The only experience I’ve had like this, was in our MKI Superb, with clonking from the front brakes when the car reversed. I’d also had the front pads replaced. I think there was a spring or block of some sort which hadn’t been reinstalled which caused the caliper to move when the brake was applied, but it was most noticeable in reverse.
