  1. Where are you located, Ian? I ask as helps other members who are local to you, who can potentially recommend an indie with whom they’ve had a good experience.
  2. Bought our one owner 2016 280 in March ‘20, with 19k miles and it’s now on 37k. I knew the original owner as they were a member here. You’re correct that prices have gone completely insane; last week I was offered £2k more for the car than we’d paid for it. Yep, it is thirsty around town - I get around 23-24 mpg, but it’s a ridiculously short drive to/from work, including a couple of not insubstantial hills in there too. The best I’ve got is low 40’s on some long trips which I’m delighted with, given this is a 335bhp car and mile munching is what this car is amazing at doing. In terms of reliability, other than a failed steering wheel thumb wheel replaced under warranty (which I now understand can actually be dismantled and cleaned 🙄) and the bonnet release which the dealer broke when I was waiting to have the thumb wheel replaced…. and I then had to pay to be fixed as apparently that wasn’t covered by warranty (seriously…. and they wonder why so many customers decide to dump them in favour of specialists) and finally a failed rear wheel sensor, the car has been completely reliable. It is expensive to run; a full service and all fluid and filter change was nearly a grand and tyres, which I’ll need soon, will be similar I’m guessing. Absolutely love the car; its superbly comfortable, fantastically well spec’d and lovely to look at. Oh and it is very, VERY fast!
  3. Your sound file doesn’t work…
  4. Brilliant; found and done!👍🏻
  5. OK, so I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve completely forgotten how to adjust the lighting level of the instrument cluster 🙈; all reminders most welcome. 😂
  6. Seriously? I have a Racechip GTS Black on our 2016 280 and the difference from the drivers seat is massive. It’s set to Sport+2. Mind you, I also have a Racechip XLR Pedalbox too, which completely eliminates the throttle lag and the dramatically improves response. Perhaps you should try the BMS Pedal Tuner?
  7. …. and as well as that, he’s nuts! 😁
  8. AS? I said it the first time round…. You’re nuts! 😂
  9. I would think it’s around the same distance. One question; why would you use the middle seat and not the ISOFIX fittings on the two main seats for the booster?
  10. Thanks everyone for the info. So is the wheel still physically connected to the rack or is it a motorised potentiometer, to give the impression of faster reaction and reduced lock-to-lock?
  11. Cant help with your question but what’s the difference between the three?
  12. Yeah, but given the failure rate of the OE ones AS, it’s probably worth a punt as they come with a warranty, albeit what that might be worth. I suspect they come out of the same factory as the VW OE ones used in China, because would the reverse-engineering, tooling, materials, manufacturing and distribution costs really make them a profit?
  13. Given a pair of so-called non-OE struts are are available for less than £250, I’d be replacing them. The ones on our 280 have always sounded like a mobile iron foundry when they’re operating, yet the ones on a mates S3 are almost completely silent, so Gawd knows which might fail first!
  14. Suit yourself, but having run the 280 on E10 and E10 with Millers, I can assure you it works. But I agree that their material is both confusing and inaccurate, including stating it is a one-shot product too; the proof reader must’ve been on holiday or they’re just useless! That type of sloppiness drives me mad, so I sent them an email pointing out their errors and they’ve now corrected the text on their website.
  15. You can’t get 99 octane easily in Northern or Southern Ireland, so when I go there I use this, which does do what it says on the bottle and is far more effective than the Redex I’d previously used.
  16. Gawd these dealers (and so many other businesses) are useless…. The “C19 backlog” is all done and dusted but it’s still the standard excuse 14 months on. I bet we still hear it being used for another 5 years.
  17. Have the same issues with FLAC and with MP3’s occasionally too. No idea if they’re buffered or not.
  18. Well, that fantastic news. Delighted for you. 👍🏻
  19. Hopefully the OE Ice Scraper is still attached to the fuel filler flap? It’d be a bloody cheek if it wasn’t, as it comes with the car! Whilst they’re not cheap, I’d also go for OE carpet and rubber mats as the quality is excellent. Horton has them in stock here.
  20. Unfortunately not, I needs to be like my sons old Grande Punto on “City” setting which made the steering non-existent. Thanks; didn’t think it would be possible….. Goodho. I VCDS so I’ll give it a go! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  21. Cheers Langers2k, so hopefully it can be done. If so, I wonder if it would be possible to add it as a third option on the steering menu, so normal, sport and light!?
  22. I need some help. I recently injured my right shoulder and as a consequence, steering the car, even on “normal” is proving challenging from a pain perspective. Does anyone know if it’s possible to increase the assistance level via VCDS/OBD11 etc.? I’m presuming there isn’t, but thought it was worth asking!
  23. Yeah, you certainly do! The pace is quite extraordinary. It is and I’m doubtful whether the JB4 is really anymore effective, regardless of the additional connections and CANbus control it has. And I really wouldn’t want the ability to pi$$ around with the air/fuel mixture to extract the last ounce of performance. And for a laugh, I turned it to the ECO setting today and it was like driving my Mums Moskvich! Well…not exactly; the brakes actually work on the 280..
