  1. Looking over on the VWROC forum, a number of MK7 owners have had the same issue. It can be dismantled - thanks to R Learner for the guide here. So just need to get a bit of 3mm mirror glass cut to 130x70mm and should be quite a simple fix.
  2. Unlikely I’d think, as I always pull it down from the leading edge and push it gently back in the same way. Anyone know if the glass is available as a part or is it the whole visor?
  3. …. does anyone have a clue how this could’ve happened and, more importantly, other than shelling-out a million quid (or an equally real sum I have no doubt) for a complete visor, can the mirror glass actually be replaced??? It’s a bloody nuisance that’s for sure!
  4. Opened mine and it’s a CR2032.
  5. Whatever it is, it’ll be sorted under warranty so that’s great.
  6. Unfortunately, it wouldn't make any difference what the finish was; sadly, that awful grawnching sound as one hits the kerb would provide the same result.
  7. Our 280 is a March 2016 car and the KESSY keys are still on their original batteries, so now 6y4m have passed....
  8. I would think 20-odd BHP less and the 4x4 system sapping more power is the reason why.
  9. Never tried LC and won’t TBH; too many stories of horrific clutch pack wear. Car is fast enough off the line without it.
  10. I had the front brakes and pads replaced on our MKI at 80k as they were at the limit, so I’d say 77k isn’t an early exit for front brakes. We sold our MKII with 46k so no idea how they’d perform long term with me driving. However, I just checked the mot history on the car and it passed the mot in March with 69,632 mile and it had advisories for wear on both front brakes, so doubtful if it’ll pass then next one.
  11. ….. and then I did the other side of the same wheel yesterday morning. 😖 So can someone delete this thread please?? 😂
  12. Oh I did. 👍🏻 To be honest, the prices of all these type of professional services have gone through the roof, primarily because of the huge volume of work they’re getting and, of course, the cost of fuel.
  13. it was simply a case of reversing out of a herringbone space with a twit who’d parked to my OS, who had with 3 feet clear in front of him, making my exit a challenge, whilst there was a Tesco delivery van behind the area I was reversing into on my NS. The NS kerb was very high and as I was trying to avoid the rear of twit and manoeuvring round the Tesco bloke, thus touching the NS kerb. Dammit!!! Another £80 to Alan the wheel Doctor….🙄
  14. You won’t believe this…..FFS, I’VE GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN TODAY!!! 😩
  15. I’d never kerbed a wheel in 45 years of driving several ‘00 cars. Got the 280 and had done all four in two months. And then did one for a second time a few months ago. 🙄
  16. I also used the 10a slot in the first link with Nextbase cam. Been working without an issue now for two years.
  17. £866. Was over a grand at the main stealers.
  18. Had a full 40k service Including the pollen and air filters, engine flush and oil change, DSG (full fluid removal and filter replaced), Haldex, differential and brake fluid changed, all done at Wheelbase in Hersham.
  19. Hilarious. I had the same conversation with the “Service Advisor” at Lookers, Guildford. When I asked what the cost was of a major service, she quoted xxx plus £550 for a cambelt change as the car would be 6 years old. When I said it had chain not a belt, she argued I was wrong and I had no idea what I was talking about and called me a w&*#er under he breath as she walked away. Needless to say, they haven’t had my business since.
  20. ^^^^ Yep. VCDS or and OBD scanner will return the fault/s and it’d be nice to know what the problem/s are, but you’ll need a specialist to sort it.
  21. It’s not necessarily the size of the item, but the shape. A sharp edge impacting the screen at exactly the right angle can crack through the entire outer screen glass which, because it’s under the most stress (40% of the cars structural integrity is provided by the glass) and through the glass flexing, this can cause a fracture to start to creep across the screen.
  22. Hardly mate, but thank you. Pleased they’ve arrive safe and sound. Always a gamble with Parcel Force.
  23. The seat fans reduce their speed when stationary. They then restart, almost with an over-boost initially when one pulls away and they then settle to their normal set speed. Ultimately, they’re pretty ineffective, unlike the cooled seats on my sons CLK500, which have ducted air to the ventilated seats.
