Screen wash bottle leaking
Well, that’s life! Great it’s sorted though. Yes, the 19” wheels are very heavy, but it’s actually the tyres that are about 65% of the overall weight.

Windscreen decontamination and Dumb Question
Yeah, don’t really fancy whacking it, especially as it’s a heated screen with all the cameras etc and most fitters do a pretty crap job replacing the trims etc. Ceriglass next….

Shiny
I got rid of the L&K absolutely naff script stickers on the sides and the name and 4x4 badges on the tailgate. Like the black logo badges you’ve added..

Party lights on dash
It is. Yesterday, it played-up three times, so on each occasion, I stopped the car, turned it off, opened the door, closed it, locked it, unlocked, opened the door, restarted the ignition and waited for all lights to go out, apart from the abs and tyre pressure lights and then engine starts and I drive off. It’s was all fine on the fourth time and it has been fine again this morning, excepts for the ACC warning flashing up momentarily and then it went off again. So I can’t get a bloody appointment at any dealer within 100 miles for three weeks and none of them have any courtesy cars available for months. So I’ve now decided not to go down this route; I actually now feel it’s a complete scam, in that they have the cheek to charge you £125 to discover what’s wrong so they can get your business to put it right. So I’ve got an appointment next Tuesday with a very reputable local VAG specialist who’s been in business since 1979 and I’ll get a courtesy car too. Oh, their labour rate is £85 an hour. Update next week…

Party lights on dash
On a 480 mile drive yesterday, the system crashed in at least 15 times. I noticed that there was an ABS rattle through the brake pedal each time the ABS warning light came on after an ignition off, door open/close wait 10 seconds and restart routine, which was then followed by tyre pressure warning, ACC, front and rear traffic alert, ESC, XDS, park pilot, parking brake, HHC, lane assist and blind spot monitoring were all not working. Using the car today for a 3 or 4 mile trip and it failed three times. I’ve braced myself for a massive bill for a replacement ABS unit and fitting cost. Fingers crossed it’s a loose sensor…

Tailgate noise when opening / closing
Hot, cold, rain or shine.. they still sound like a mobile iron foundry…😳

Windscreen decontamination and Dumb Question
Tried the white spirit method of j caff and it did booger all. I will try and polish the crap off the screen, but this is the least of my car worries at the mo, as it’s appears the abs unit is kaput…🙄

Myskoda App
I would’nt’ve let my kids into my car when I couldn’t see what they were doing, but I can see the advantage of that in certain circumstances. In any event, it’s won’t connect with my “old” £40k car, which in my opinion makes it crap.

Screen wash bottle leaking
Yep, totally normal. The headlamp washer pump failed on our MKI. Got a replacement pump so front wheel off, wheel arch liner off and before I took the old one off, though I’d test it and bu**er me, it bloody-well worked. Put two full bottles through it and all was well. So put it all back together and now, fully chuffed with myself thought I’ll just check it agi…. yeah, yeah… you know, don’t you? Decided to face the the whole process the following day, but it took me half the time which was great. This was three years ago and it’s still all ok.

Myskoda App
I’ve just written to their Apps team asking them why they haven’t made this backwards compatible and when it will be fixed. Won’t hold my breath…
-
Myskoda App
And you can remotely unlock it with your key!
-
Myskoda App
Well, it just doesn’t work with a large number of current vehicles which is, quite frankly, ridiculous when they continue to promote it and they couldn’t care less when you complain.
-
Myskoda App
Basically, it’s a crap app. Simply Dense and Doesn’t in this case…

Rear brake wear.
Hmmmm… So who makes the Brembo discs if they’re “crap”; I presume it won’t be Brembo?

Windscreen decontamination and Dumb Question
Thanks J caff. I’m in your country at the mo and the amount it rains up here in the NW makes matters even worse of course! We had glorious weather for couple of weeks though, so I can’t complain. I’ll get some white spirit and give it a whirl.

Extended Warranty cost ? Superb 280
Yep, that’s more reasonable at < half the two year extended warranty cost. No doubt they’ll be a restriction on the warranty claims.
-
Tailgate noise when opening / closing
Ours have always made a terrible creaking sound during both opening and closing. Lookers wouldn’t change the struts under warranty as they said they “hadn’t failed” which is true. I’d certainly like any ideas on how to shut them up though!

Windscreen decontamination and Dumb Question
Thanks everyone; I thought it should be ok but best to ask and thanks too for all the methods Re the Ceriglass, the screen does have a couple of annoying grit arcs which I’d like to remove hence why I’m going down that route. However, re the gunge, I’ll try the white spirit in darned hot water method.

Extended Warranty cost ? Superb 280
Wasn’t invited when the 5 year warranty ended in March so I just got a quote now… zero excess, all parts and <10k… hold on to your pants… £797!!! Feck that!

Windscreen decontamination and Dumb Question
The windscreen on the 280 is now badly contaminated - y’know, with those patches which just won’t clean fully and clearly and where the rain no longer beads, including where the blades park and stop and return from each sweep. I’ve replaced wiper blades then I’ve tried to clean it with Autoglym Car Polish, their Fast Glass and even lemon juice and white vinegar; they’ve all failed. Was thinking about trying BKF but thought it might be a bit too harsh? So now my plan is to use Ceriglass with the DA to properly clean the glass but, and here it is; the heated screen won’t be damaged by doing this, will it? Co😕

Auto stop
Yep, you’re correct, it’s not manoeuvre assist; did I say it was? It’s actually called Rear Traffic Alert. And who said parking sensors have anything to do with this; parking sensors have nothing to do at all with this discussion. Collision Avoidance / Pedestrian Alert / Bicycle Alert / Rear Traffic Alert all use the radar systems and activate the braking system for the first three.

Cinturato P7's.......
Yeah, I don’t think that’s actually a thing and I’ll tell you why. A You can have it both ways, John; it can’t be a problem with the sun and then be OK to use in warm but apparently cloudy Italy. B. Pirelli is a global OE supplier to the whole of VAG, Ford Passenger Cars and Commercials, Renault PC&C, BMW, Mercedes PC&C, Peugeot PC&C, Citroen etc. and all of which combined outsell the domestic Italian market 500-1. Do you honestly believe that they’d risk these global relationships by creating tyres that only work in Italy, in the warm? And one other thing, have you noticed how warm its been here lately? Given the complaints from Briskodians about all manufacturers, this is a manufacturing thing don’t you think? If people change their tyres one year earlier, you’ve improved your sales pipeline by 25-50%. Not bad, huh?

Eco Mode ... Is it worth using ?
Used to be given a bag of gooseberries as a kid. Loved them, but they had to be as hard as gobstoppers!

USB Port Retrofit.
Seems an expensive and complicated route to go down, when you can achieve the same result and have them hidden for about £15 with JS RS solution.
