  1. I would’nt’ve let my kids into my car when I couldn’t see what they were doing, but I can see the advantage of that in certain circumstances. In any event, it’s won’t connect with my “old” £40k car, which in my opinion makes it crap.
  2. Yep, totally normal. The headlamp washer pump failed on our MKI. Got a replacement pump so front wheel off, wheel arch liner off and before I took the old one off, though I’d test it and bu**er me, it bloody-well worked. Put two full bottles through it and all was well. So put it all back together and now, fully chuffed with myself thought I’ll just check it agi…. yeah, yeah… you know, don’t you? Decided to face the the whole process the following day, but it took me half the time which was great. This was three years ago and it’s still all ok.
  3. I’ve just written to their Apps team asking them why they haven’t made this backwards compatible and when it will be fixed. Won’t hold my breath…
  4. And you can remotely unlock it with your key!
  5. Well, it just doesn’t work with a large number of current vehicles which is, quite frankly, ridiculous when they continue to promote it and they couldn’t care less when you complain.
  6. Basically, it’s a crap app. Simply Dense and Doesn’t in this case…
  7. Hmmmm… So who makes the Brembo discs if they’re “crap”; I presume it won’t be Brembo?
  8. Thanks J caff. I’m in your country at the mo and the amount it rains up here in the NW makes matters even worse of course! We had glorious weather for couple of weeks though, so I can’t complain. I’ll get some white spirit and give it a whirl.
  9. Yep, that’s more reasonable at < half the two year extended warranty cost. No doubt they’ll be a restriction on the warranty claims.
  10. Ours have always made a terrible creaking sound during both opening and closing. Lookers wouldn’t change the struts under warranty as they said they “hadn’t failed” which is true. I’d certainly like any ideas on how to shut them up though!
  11. Thanks everyone; I thought it should be ok but best to ask and thanks too for all the methods Re the Ceriglass, the screen does have a couple of annoying grit arcs which I’d like to remove hence why I’m going down that route. However, re the gunge, I’ll try the white spirit in darned hot water method.
  12. Wasn’t invited when the 5 year warranty ended in March so I just got a quote now… zero excess, all parts and <10k… hold on to your pants… £797!!! Feck that!
  13. The windscreen on the 280 is now badly contaminated - y’know, with those patches which just won’t clean fully and clearly and where the rain no longer beads, including where the blades park and stop and return from each sweep. I’ve replaced wiper blades then I’ve tried to clean it with Autoglym Car Polish, their Fast Glass and even lemon juice and white vinegar; they’ve all failed. Was thinking about trying BKF but thought it might be a bit too harsh? So now my plan is to use Ceriglass with the DA to properly clean the glass but, and here it is; the heated screen won’t be damaged by doing this, will it? Co😕
  14. Yep, you’re correct, it’s not manoeuvre assist; did I say it was? It’s actually called Rear Traffic Alert. And who said parking sensors have anything to do with this; parking sensors have nothing to do at all with this discussion. Collision Avoidance / Pedestrian Alert / Bicycle Alert / Rear Traffic Alert all use the radar systems and activate the braking system for the first three.
  15. Yeah, I don’t think that’s actually a thing and I’ll tell you why. A You can have it both ways, John; it can’t be a problem with the sun and then be OK to use in warm but apparently cloudy Italy. B. Pirelli is a global OE supplier to the whole of VAG, Ford Passenger Cars and Commercials, Renault PC&C, BMW, Mercedes PC&C, Peugeot PC&C, Citroen etc. and all of which combined outsell the domestic Italian market 500-1. Do you honestly believe that they’d risk these global relationships by creating tyres that only work in Italy, in the warm? And one other thing, have you noticed how warm its been here lately? Given the complaints from Briskodians about all manufacturers, this is a manufacturing thing don’t you think? If people change their tyres one year earlier, you’ve improved your sales pipeline by 25-50%. Not bad, huh?
  16. The edge of the tread of our P7’s on ours are pretty terrible, but no sign of sidewall cracking.
  17. Used to be given a bag of gooseberries as a kid. Loved them, but they had to be as hard as gobstoppers!
  18. Seems an expensive and complicated route to go down, when you can achieve the same result and have them hidden for about £15 with JS RS solution.
  19. Yes, that’s collision avoidance. We have it on our MY16 L&K. It’s excellent, works with pedestrians, bicycles and other vehicles. I can attest to the front system too as it stopped the car far quicker than I was able to do when a car in front pulled away and almost immediately emergency stopped from about 10 mph; they actually went into the back of the car in front of them - ours pulled up with at least 6” to spare.
  20. Went ahead and I bought one of these on the bay today, so thanks for the recommendation. Can I ask where you got the connector plug and how it’s fitted?
  21. Having seen the cost of a couple of OE ones after a wheel bolt was nicked (I know…. seriously?) I bought a set of Chinese copies on the bay for £6 including a removal tool and they’re actually pretty good and a nicer colour than the originals too; I’ll see what they’re like after 6 months.
  22. Yep, good point. I’ll get it checked, albeit the clock is on time. Thanks!
  23. Yeah, I find the slight sluggishness an annoyance, especially when trying to overtake but the 3/4 mpg improvement is worth it on a long run, although obviously, we never bought the car for economic reasons….
  24. Dunno, haven’t checked that; why do you ask?
  25. You need to see the service history to make sure it’s had the servicing carried out on time and by the book. If they don’t have it, walk away…
