  1. No, the new battery doesn’t need “coding”; ours was replaced with a new, higher rated unit by the RAC two weeks ago after the OE one - which was five years old - was dead.
  2. ...breathing in all that lovely pollution... Ahhh... I’m pleased to see the 1960’s are as alive ‘n’ well in South Wales as they are in Ireland....
  3. Personally I wouldn’t buy a Superb with a sunroof due to the potential for it to leak now or in the future; seems inevitable that it will. Also, the fact is you might actually only use it 2-3 times per annum. My wife has an electric sunroof on her runout MKI 2003 2.0L Focus and she never uses it, except to dump air from the inside of the car when it’s hot, but you can just drop the windows on the Superb to do the same thing; the Focus does same too BTW. And yes, it has leaked, just once about 10 years ago which I fixed. But what I really dislike is they’re sooo noisy when they’re open. I understand that some people like them but given the climate ventilation system on the MKIII is, well, superb, so the use of sunroofs are all but irrelevant these days.
  4. Well, that’s utter boll@#ks, if ever I heard it!
  5. Thanks MartiniB. I’d rather stay original, so would you be able to sell me your original, or give me some help to dismantle the unit?
  6. Brilliant, thanks langers2k. I expect dismantling will be.. ermmmm... interesting!?
  7. So some barsteward has clipped my drivers door mirror when it was parked and broken the little indicator tell tail on the end of the door indicator repeater. I found the bit but it’d been run over so it’s ruined. Does anyone know if the indicator strip is available as a spare or, (don’t tell me...) it’s a whole new bloody mirror housing?
  8. I replaced all ours with Skoda logo units. I used a wide head slot screwdriver. You pop the head into the side of the unit at a 45 degree angle and lever it out. I did the same on our MKII; they’re the same units.
  9. Can’t Skoda supply the OE Monroe units? (Well they’re Monroe on our 2016 car). Bloody poor that one has failed after only 4 years in any event.
  10. Cheers langers2k. So, there isn’t a difference; SmartLink and SmartLink+ are the same? When I entered the VIN on the app it stated the car wasn’t compatible, hence why I thought I’d need to upgrade it and the app doesn’t show up on CarPlay when I open it. So now, like many others it’s seems, I’ve no way of getting the service history on the car. What a crock!
  11. I can’t see the MySkoda app on CarPlay when I launch it, so does only work with later versions of the Columbus unit, or am I missing something or need to update the FW?
  12. I’ve reviewed my behaviour this afternoon and yep, as you both suspected, it’s completely OE! I have been pulling the gear lever back too hard and the DSG has correctly been going into S. What a twit I am! So thanks for your help and patience.
  13. Thanks guys. Newbie69. Yes. When this occurs and the car starts, it shows S in the dash and drives in S (revs are up, held in gear, need to manually change up) even though I’ve left it in D mode when I parked up. AFAIK, it is just the DSG which has been changed, not DCC or other changes. The gear selector is in D. I have to change the drive mode, from what’s shown as being in Normal on the Columbus, to Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual - doesn’t matter which - and then back to Normal to correct it. I have not tried moving the gear selector to S and back to D; I’ll try that. KennyD. No, I can assure you the selector is in D.
  14. LOL. Well, it’ll start in sport mode if that’s where it was left when I parked it or Individual mode is set to Sport too, but this is only when it’s in say in Normal, Eco or Individual and DCC and Steering are on sport but DSG on normal etc. It could be a gear selector issue I guess; it that a software or hardware problem or both? I’ll check tomorrow to see if I can consciously replicate the issue, as its quite intermittent and occasionally random at present.
  15. Don’t know if anyone else has had this issue? On a number of occasions now, when I’ve left the car for a couple of hours, on returning and starting it, the DSG restarts in Sport mode rather than Normal. Is shows it’s in S on the dash, but In the Mode selection on the Columbus, this shows Normal is selected. Weird, huh? I have to change the mode to say Eco and then back to Normal to get it to change back. It’s not a massive problem, but it’d be nice to have it fixed. Anyone have a solution? Of course, it’s now two months out of warranty.. 😖
  16. Well, that’s 10 mins of my life I’ll never get back. Did you direct me there just for the part numbers? Anyway, I’m happy to help, but with one caveat; if it means dismantling half the boot, I’m afraid that ain’t gonna happen! Where are the amps on a Superb hatch?
  17. I think you’ll find all the VAG units are as awful as each other. Certainly an friend who has a 2017 A6 with the TV (something like an £800 option) is just as poor as the one in our 280. PS - the thread is a Russian site. What would up you like me to read? 😁
  18. One word of caution to all those wanting this function. We have a March 2016 model and whilst the TV is really great to have, the picture quality is, to be frank, utterly abysmal; it’s SD and a very poor SD at that, so please bear that in mind before you spend more time and effort to retro fit this. It also doesn’t help that there are practically no picture adjustments either. That said, it was great to have DVD (remember those?!) function whilst waiting for a ferry at Holyhead which had been delayed for 6 hours - wizzed though half of S3 of The West Wing!
  19. Took all ours off as they looked awful, including all the dreadful L&K’s. It took all of 5 mins and 10 mins more to remove the shadows.
  20. I note Castrol now state its Edge 0W-40 for the 280? I wonder why it’s changed?
  21. 🙈 Sorry everyone. I found the problem; that’ll be me. I’d inadvertently unticked Convenience Indicators when trying to turn down the dash lighting.... What a nob! 🙄
  22. I’ve searched and couldn’t find an answer. Half way through my journey last night, the comfort indicators stopped working - I now only get a single blink when I flick the stalk. I did change the number of times from 3 to 5 blinks via VCDS back in April when I got the car, as I did on our S2 and never had a problem. I’ll do a scan with VCDS to see if it throws up abut but in the meantime, has anyone else seen this happen before? Could it be a hardware failure? All help appreciated. Cheers... Rob
