Octavia SE car stereo MP3 connectivity?
krob2 replied to SpeedyJD's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The UK SE had the Bolero when I got my L&K - but you need the Jumbo box in the middle which has the AUX socket. Today this means the Elegance or above. -
So Geneva seems to be a damp squib for Skoda this year - Citigo is hardly news anymore even the five door...No Rapid,Mission L,facelift Superb or Octavia. Maybe something is being held back for Paris later in the year..
-
It'll be interesting to see if Skoda have anything extra than the Citigo at Geneva 2012 - We'll know Tuesday if the European Rapid will be there...would be nice to see Octavia 3 at the Paris show in the Autumn but it seems to be unlikely until next year.
-
Not quite - its like HP but you defer capital payments to create the large last payment which you can make to own the car. 3 choices basically - pay the last payment to buy the car (I think of it like buying a used car which you know the history of since new), hand it back or trade in and start again (what they want you to do). On mine I've got £5000 to buy my 3 yr old L&K - should be worth say £8000 so the £3K is your deposit for the next one. £5K would be cheap for a 3yr old L&K.
-
Ditto :-( PCP is up next Jan and despite excellent car wouldn't like to get another so soon before its replaced...
-
I've the same dilemma. PCP up for renewal in Jan next year - love Octavia but would not want to buy a car about to be replaced. Perhaps will have to change to a Superb or Yeti.

Ordered Octavia L&K 1.8 TFSI DSG
krob2 replied to Jonno's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have a L & K and travel to work on the A50 every day. Changing from the OEM Bridgestone Potenzas to Michelin Primacy HP tyres helped a lot with the A50 - the Bridgestones were much noisier on the concrete. The TSI is so quiet the most noticeable noise is always the tyre noise. You won't regret going for the TSi - I had a similar dilemma but the Diesel price difference would take a fair bit getting back - I only do 13,000 miles a year so it wouldn't break even. Watch the oil on the TSI - likes a drink. Only dilemma now would be what to get next when the PCP runs out next Jan - the new Octavia might not be out! -
Another Mazda 6 to Octavia driver here.. I went from Mazda 6 Diesel to the TSi Octavia - Economy is not actually much worse and the fuel is cheaper! I toyed with a VRS but found the L & K to be a better overall bet - more standard equipment - metallic standard, leather, xenons, electric seats, folding mirrors, nice alloys, multi function steering wheel etc... It was a close decision but the performance of the 1.8Tsi looked fine for me and it does go really well. Just what to get when the PCP expires - Octavia might not be replaced. A Superb Elegance would be nice but I'd like to see the revised 1.8 from the Audi A4/A5 in it for better economy/emissions.
-
Congrats on the new motor! This question has come up many times before - not possible to change via Maxidot its a requirement that a kph display is there.
-
A 1.8TSi Superb is looking a possibility for next car but wonder if Skoda will get the revised 1.8 that Audi have just introduced on the A5 with stop-start,better Co2 and economy and 10bhp more!
-
Wonder if a Superb refresh would include the updated 1.8 engine that the Audi A5 has just had on its refresh - supposed to be much better on fuel,10bhp more and much lower co2 due to stop start. Got the current 1.8 and its great in the Octavia. With the economy/co2 improvements it would be great to upgrade to a Superb.

MY12 model here already ?
krob2 replied to HWMBO - Mark's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
New brochure dated 1/6/2011 on Skoda web site. Prices up I think.. My Aqua Blue L&K is going to be rare as they've dropped the colour. Have seen a few other Aqua Octavias but not a L&K - its a brill colour for staying clean looking! -
When we they let us pick tyres on new car?
krob2 replied to lol-lol's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I got Bridgestones too on my L&K - not amazingly impressed with them tbh - have noticed some tramlining on rough tarmac.Think I'll swap to Michelin or Continental when they need doing - Michelins transformed my old Mazda 6 when I swapped onto them from Bridgestone.I've heard some good reports on Continentals - do any Briskodians have a view? -
1.8Tsi fuel light on after 280 miles
krob2 replied to Nick_H's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
After 8000 miles I'm getting an average of 38mpg from mine measuring brim to brim. Computer is a bit optimistic - usually hovers around 42-43mpg average. Commute does not have much sitting in traffic which is not good for the 1.8TSI economy. Lovely smooth quiet engine but does have an appetite for a bit of oil - I had the low oil light on yesterday at 8000 miles from new which was a bit of a worry. None of my previous 4 cars needed any oil between services. -
Skoda Octavia - The Bad Bits Review
krob2 replied to Mute's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
After 3 months now not found very much at all to dislike but I guess these would be the ones 1. The water going into the boot when opening after its been raining as mentioned earlier. 2. The MDI could be better - it is slow when you have a lot of tracks on the Ipod 3. Some annoying squeaks from the rear seat area and where the drivers seat meets the console and seat belt holder. 4. Auto wipers - not convinced by these! The good bits massively outweigh these niggles -
Got some nice pictures of my Aqua L & K but haven't a clue how best to post them for you!!

What does multi f wheel actually control
krob2 replied to pmdc199's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
MDI control via the steering wheel seems pretty limited. You can go forward or back within the current folder being played and increase/decrease volume. Thats about it. The thing missing is the ability to change to another folder ie a different album without having to move to the touchscreen. I haven't found it yet! -
Annoying buzzing/rattling sound
krob2 replied to rude dog's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've got similar issues with my L & K rude - was about to post the same question - its like a leather on leather buzz which gets worse over the bumps. Settles down and then starts up again. Hadn't thought about the armrest - I thought it was coming from the door/rear seat bolster area. -

Octavia with Aqua Blue metallic Colour?
krob2 replied to Flumf's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I can do better Curleybar! I've been driving an Aqua Blue L & K for a couple of months - very nice colour and doesn't show the dirt! Trying to upload an image or two but not having any success - why so difficult???? -
I have a L&K with the MDI and using an Ipod Classic Seems to work well enough but I have reservations about how safe it is to use! The steering wheel controls only seem to allow you to move within the current folder - there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate around and change what you are listening to - guess I'll have to create some more playlists!! The button is there on the right hand side but does not do what you think it should ie change the selection.
-
I've had a L&K for 6 weeks and 1200 miles. Its got Bridgestones and they are just the same as the Bridgestones I had on a Mazda 6 - quite noisy on coarse surfaces. I can live with the tyre noise - whats driving me a bit mad is the build quality! The engine is so quiet it makes any noise really noticeable. I'm getting like a buzzing from the rear - think its the rear seat rubbing somewhere as it sounds like leather or plastic rubbing rather than a rattle - It does it over the bumps and then settles down a bit - Any Briskodians have any ideas as to where I should check? So far I've eliminated the parcel shelf rubbing against the seat backs. Its making more noise from the trim after 1200 miles than the Mazda 6 did at 40,000 miles!

Honestjohn reckons the TSi engines are chain driven not belt. We've had this before - I believe they are Chain driven
-
I agree Finlay - I have recently joined the Octavia club - the L & K looks really good with its unique alloys. I thought about a 3rd Mazda 6 but the current model isn't that good looking and is quite big - looks quite a bland Jap motor - I had two of the previous Mazda 6 and that I thought was a really nice looking motor - certainly better than the current model.

My 1.8Tsi is just running in and as you say the engine response is just fantastic in any gear. Add to that amazing silence and so far reasonable economy - 35 - 40 mpg. The gear shift indicator does make you drive economically I find. The 1.8TSi feels very rapid - between 60 and 80 theres a lot of go!!!
