  1. Oops!! Sorry Stan, my apologies. Now done 45k miles in the Niro and we are very happy with it. The gearbox is very similar to the DSG, just that it is called a DCT by Kia and they don't seem to have the problems that get reported about the DSG in VAG vehicles. Haven't had a good look at the new model yet but didn't think it was that much bigger than mine. And there are plenty of toys on the 2! EDIT Buy it on a PCP and then pay it off within a month.
  2. They can quite easily be done by you although having small hands does help. The Handbook has a good explanation of how to do it. As said it certainly does NOT need the bumper or the light units removing from the car.
  3. Funny isn't it, but I used to have to clean the old 7 pin plugs at the start of every season and atleast once more durimg the summer, but now with the 13 pin plug I very rarely have to do anything. It just works! All I do is give it a spray of silicone grease when I put the 'van away for the winter.
  4. The fog and headlight are all one unit so you need to find the lower of the black bulb holder covers from inside the engine compartment, remove that then remove the bulb and replace. Small hands are useful!
  5. Again, another example of a (local) garage not checking what fault codes are present.
  6. As Tony says, yes I've gone down that route. Bought a self charging Niro 2 in July 2020 and have now done 30k miles in it, and we are very happy with our choice. Lots of toys even on the base model we bought, some of which I like, some I don't. The thing I hate most is the Lane Keeper Assistance, which I have to swtich off everytime I start the car. It is probably effective if you do lots of motorway miles but on the lanes around here keeps getting in the way as it is confused by white lines on both sides of the road. Addaptive cruise control is really good. Auto lights and wipers as good as on the Yeti but I'm not so sure about the automatic main beam as it seems a bit slow sometimes. Miss the rearwiper not automatically wiping the rear screen, and the fact that I don't have headlight washers. Handling isn't as good as the Yeti but since I don't drive it like a sports car it is more than adequate for my needs. Ride is supple and more forgiving that the Yeti, but I purposely bought a 2 level as it comes on 16" wheels and tyres, whereas the higher spec models get 18" wheels and tyres. Boot room is greater than the Yeti but internal storage not quite as good. Fuel consumotion is excellent! Because I do voluntary patient transport for the Welsh Ambulance Service I keep a spread sheet of all my fuel consumption and costs and even allowing for around 1500 miles towing a 1100kg caravan my consumption has averaged out at 58mpg. Towing the caravan I get 30mpg, and even in the winter I can easily exceed 60mpg solo.
  7. According to PF Jones they have the same tow bar, so yes it should be a straight swap. Don't forget that you will have to swap the inner crash bar in the opposite direction. As Tony implies, you will still need a new electrics set-up as that isn't a easy swap.
  8. Buy direct from Team Heko: https://e-heko.com/en_GB/p/Wind-deflectors-SKODA-Yeti-5d-2009-front-only/6912
  9. Yes you can get a spare for the later 150. I know because I had one. The only difference in the fittings kit was the absence of the large plastic box like thing that went into the bottom of the floor, becasue that is where the AdBlue tank is.
  10. So don't take it to a dealer!! There must be some independent VAG specialists or auto-electricians in your area.
  11. I suggest that before you buy a new lock you check all the wires inside the rubber sleeve. between the A post and the door,
  12. In that case they would not be allowed under the Vehicle Lighting Regulations, as they are too low down. Simplistically, additional driving lights have to be roughly level with the headlights. Your first action should be to fit better headlight bulbs, and many here recommend either the Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs or their Phillips equivalent as they have been proven to improve things no end. No they wouldn't.
  13. I can't think where you mean. Can you get a photo?
  14. Caffyns are good and offer very good prices,
  15. Some people don't understand the use we make of our cars, Jerry. That sentence is why I thought the endoscope might be useful.
  16. Jerry, borrow an endoscope and see if that will help.
  17. You are correct Tony, the Chinese lengthened model had the spare mounted on a swing-away mount, however due to European (and UK) regulations that would not be allowed as when turned outwards it obscured the lights on one side. It is why LR had to mount the rear lights in the bumpers of the early Disco and Freelander.
  18. I wonder if the OP has notified his insurance company of those alterations/additions?
  19. As alaways. I've always got a couple of various sizes in the garage, all picked up from mine. Mind you I did refuse the huge thing they use of calcium deficiency in cows!
