  1. I'd start by looking at where the tank is.
  2. Those things use nearly as much power as a caravan fridge, so I'm not surprised! I suggest you invest in a gas powered unit AND a solar panel.
  3. As others have said you will not be able to power a fridge just from a 12v leisure battery for more than a few hours. They have to be run on either mains or gas. The only way to charge one from the car would be to have the specific extended additional towing loom fitted to the car, as this provides the required circuitry to protect the BMS. And from experience the amount of power/charge provided is very low and not very beneficial. Most decent campsites provide battery charging facilities, plus I would buy a decent solar charging unit. I'm able to last well over a week away in my caravan with a 90amp battery charged by a 100w panel.
  4. Then those are not fog lights but DRIVING lights. The difference is all laid out in the Vehicle Lighting Regulations which you will have to abide by. And your biggest problem is going to be getting a feed from the main beam circuit to switch the relay required. Gone are the days when you could just add to that cable, now we have CanBus systems where all the switching is done by computer and trying to add a wire, as you would need to do can easy cause expensive damage to the BCU. Don't bother and replace the standard bulbs with something better, as Urrell suggests.
  5. None what so ever Dale, just leave it until 5 years.
  6. Early ones were every four years, but this was alter changed to every 5 years.
  7. Do you mean the windows between the C post and the hatch? If so they are bonded in and you have to remove the black plastic trim first.
  8. Find someone with VCDS locally or a Carista unit and get them to change your car to Australian. You will then get the option to change from MPH to KPH in the Maxidot menu, but it will also alter the Maxidot display slightly when you have MPH displayed.
  9. Considering that the same part is fitted to millions of engines across the whole of the VAG range and there aren't thousands of claims about its failure, how can it be "not fit for purpose"? I think you've got a chip on your shoulder.
  10. When you do check the battery voltage remember it is the "resting" voltage you need to know, so don't check it until atleast 3 hours after disconnecting the charger or turning the ignition on. Anything below 12.3v means the battery is failing.
  11. Lots of members have had excellent results using GummiPfledge on the door/hatch rubbers. You will find many recommendations on this forum group.
  12. Dale, this isn't just affecting Skodas. Similar complaints on the Kia and Hyundai forums.
  13. Dale, Try a different lead. Lots of reports elsewhere about the same problem on other makes of car as well, and the lead seems to be the biggest culprit.
  14. If they are the LED ones then the whole light unit needs replacing, if a the other type the bulb is accessible through the back of the light unit.
  15. You can't, I'm afraid, only with a 12S or the modern and better 13 pin ones. 12n only has connections to lighting circuits.

On an 11 year old car?? Just because a car has done very little mileage does not mean that things don't deteriorate. and if those filters have been on for those 11 years then frankly they are knackered, probably along with a lot of other things. Low use is one of the worst things out for a car, they need to be used, and if that use isn't often then they need to be serviced more often.
  17. See reply from xman above.
  18. It can all to easily spike, which can damage the battery and it's internal circuitry.
  19. There have been numerous examples in the past of insurance companies doing exactly that.
  20. The bumper crash bar is removed and then replaced by a tow bar mounting structure that uses the same mounting points. I've still got the old crash bar from when mine was fitted in the garage.
  21. I would agree with Urrell, and suspect an air lock, especially as you've obviously had to drain the system to fit the water pump.
  22. I would be looking very closely at the condition of the tow bar mounting, which unfortunately inside the bumper, and also any ripples in the floor of the boot. Also check that the tow bar still fits properly and all the electrics still work.
  23. I found that having the air con and fan on fairly high stopped the Stop/Start working, I presume due to the battery drain these caused. Having the lights on as well would obviously further add to that load. Also remember that it is temperature dependent; too cold and it won't work. Thankfully the Niro doesn't have it!
  24. I thought you were asking, so did as I was told.
