  1. As above, they don't function in the vRS but beware of MoT testers who aren't aware of that!
  2. Well, at least they're being consistent! That's what I was told by them too. Poor show.
  3. Well done on getting loyalty discount. I didn't even get that. I'd have bitten their hand off if they'd offered me a new engine for £3500.00!
  4. Or perhaps have put a vag car there ready to be pounced on when the thieves struck.
  5. Had to replace 3 of my door seals last year thanks to the crows. This spring I ended up useing a car cover.
  6. I suspect it's the narrow strip of rubber across the top of the FL headlight where it's adjacent to the front edge of the bonnet. The crows at our office have had a go at my near side one and there's a few peck marks in it. I don't think it's a seal though.
  7. Maxidot is the upgraded display between your rev counter and speedo. If you see a plan view of a car with a door open when you open a vehicle door, then you have maxidot.
  8. I was an individual. Dealer liased with SUK and then I did but they just said that their goodwill policy now was perhaps to offer something on cars up to five years old but after that you were on your own and they wouldn't budge despite FSSH, a known problem and considerable brand loyalty from my family over many years. The dealer were fine - I know them from way back and I trust them to have done their bit. I didn't need the car back in hurry so that helped them keep labour charge down.
  9. Please don't expect too much from Skoda uk. They'll only let you down. That is my experience anyway. And it may be worth doing clutch and flywheel at same time as engine. Adds to the cost now but cheaper in the long run if you're likely to keep the car.
  10. They are great cars. I loved my vRS and my Scout still continues to impress.
  11. I feel your pain. My scout was also 6 yrs old and 60k when my problems started. It too had full dealer service history but Skoda UK weren't interested. Dealer helped with cheap labour and I get discount on parts but it was still a very expensive job for new engine. Felt somewhat let down by Skoda, especially given the brand loyalty over the years. Good luck with a decent outcome.
  12. I believe there's a gromit somewhere behind the glove box area through which a wire can be fed.
  13. The rear armrest is very easy to remove. The whole assembly is held with just two large screws. It wouldn't surprise me if the armrest from another VAG group car with eg cup holders could be swapped over. I used mine mine to keep the handbook and service record in to free up space in the glovebox.
  14. I wouldn't expect anything from Skoda UK. Despite the low mileage and known issue they will doubtless say that because the car is over five years old they can't help. Hopefully your warranty and the garage from whom you bought the car will help. Good luck with it.
  15. Not sure if a mk3 knob will fit as I stuck with a mk2 one. I'm sure there's somewhere on here that describes how to fit it and others have done it themselves. I may have the instructions from when I had mine done. I'll look them out tonight. If you need any of the clips/ fittings let me know as I have some brand new ones spare. Will be happy to send them on.
  16. When I got my scout I went for new gear knob and new steering wheel. Relatively small mods but go a long way to making the car your own. I got the garage to change them for me though. My scout is also black and looks great when cleaned up!
  17. I found the handbook unhelpful as the flashing light/audible warning on start up suggested oil level sensor issue but I actually had oil level issues. Never had a red oil light but was topping up oil every few hundred miles. An oil consumption test demonstrated the need for new engine.
  18. Worst case scenario - you could be looking at new engine. Mine used to do the same on start up and that's what I ended up needing.
  19. Sorry sandspider, you're right - my mistake. That'll teach me to try doing Briskoda in a rush at work!
  20. For known weaknesses see the sticky thread at the top re. the 1.8 tsi engine. Most affected engines were the earlier 2010/2011 ones. Otherwise it's a nice engine with a reasonable balance of performance versus economy. On paper it's as quick as the diesel vRS and I generally get high 30s to low 40s out of mine. Less than my diesel vRS but it didn't have 4x4 or off road capability. I really like mine and just wish I hadn't had to put a new engine in it!
  21. Skoda OEM mudflats fit the vRS rear bumper just fine.
  22. The instrument cluster on my 2010 vRS failed in its first year. New cluster was fitted under warranty - though I had to wait for a second one to be delivered as first one arrived broken iirc.
