  1. Hopefully to save confusion but I gather you meant to put lb ft instead of bhp on the bit I highlighted
  2. Cheers, the front brakes are 345s from a Passat which incidentally I painted with red hammerite...just to keep it on topic
  3. As mentioned you shouldn't really be doing it, but agreed that the red hammerite is a good match and on a brand new caliper you wouldn't have to wire brush it even, just a squirt of brake cleaner and a wipe to get any dust off before painting with the hammerite.
  4. I used a 3mm spacer with Neptunes and 345mm brakes. Easier to buy a pair of 3mm spacers than a completely different brake setup surely?
  5. Only if the other bolt fitment is 5x112 as mk1 octys are 5x100 and also if they clear the front brakes, 16s are usually the smallest you can get away with for the 312mm setup but youd be best to trial fit one to make sure they wont foul the calipers.
  6. Years ago I toyed with the idea of it on my old B5, had a play on photoshop (not the best effort but it still made me want to do it)
  7. I bought one from Rustynuts and haven't had a single issue. He also helped me out so I could make a connector to power up my bolero so I could show it working before I sold it. If the man has one for sale or points you towards one I'd take his advice
  8. Whereabouts are you bud, I'd have them at that. In fact I'll PM you my number.
  9. Could be possible, if the car is trying to regen it will be purposely putting more fuel in to hit the high temps needed to do the regen, but then if you give it some shoe the temps will be going too high causing the car to pull the fuelling back to try and bring them back down. I mean that's just me making a bit of a guess but it certainly sounds like one of those pain in the arse things to find otherwise :S
  10. The ecu is probably pulling the fuelling back at high RPM due to high EGT readings, when mine was being mapped on a rolling road he had to tweak the map a couple of times and tone it down from the most aggressive one he tried because of this.
  11. Oh and just a post to show its not all new wheels and grilles lol. 2 separate incidents where I've had things hit the car... The first on the way back home from Torquay on the M5, a Jeep of some form was passing me in the right hand lane when the exhaust seemed to explode and shot bits everywhere including at my car, The second was only last Friday on the way home from work, I thought it was a piece of wood but after checking my cam footage a piece of ratchet strap was flicked up and did this lot :'( the scuffs on the screen (which was new only last November) broken wiper and the paint damage on the lower A-Pillar Annoyingly this wont get sorted as I cant afford it right now (Ideally would want the whole car doing as there's other areas that aren't great) but ahh well, things could always be worse... I think
  12. Cheers, a few guys who got the bonnet strut kit noticed a slight difference in the bonnet height when closed with it fitted and I guess I can see where they are coming from but you really really have to look for it (must only be a couple of mm) and the function over form wins out in this case, put it this way no-ones commented on my bonnet being wonky probably notice the stone chips more.
  13. Cheers guys although the eyelids have come back off for now, if I can attach them slightly better they might go back on but it looks just as good without.
  14. Cheers, I just had to try a set after having some previously. Strangely enough I've acquired 2 sets and have a set in the garage which are gloss black (not really fussed over black wheels but they'll do as a winter set maybe)
  15. Hi Mate, I didn't get it from superskoda personally but was told it is from there... shame I did a poo job on the paint
  16. Nice little meet, and nice to meet some members although I was only there a short time, gutted I was being good and not having fish and chips too :'(
  17. It will just seem loud in the car seeing as the dpf is/was next to the bulk head so it will almost sound as if its coming from the dash. I can understand where you're coming from being a bit paranoid if you've already thrown a bit of money at it. I'm pretty confident you should be fine though
  18. As you know from the PM's mines a VRS CR and mapped, the CR isn't as punchy as the PD but I'd also expect it to have less issues with the DMF because of the smoother power delivery. As sataed its not a massive gain like you see with some cars but still the best bang for buck you can ever spend. I've never failed to be impressed yet by having a car remapped. Also after the initial phase of wanting to boot it more (when you stop being a madman with all the extra power..may just be me) you tend to end up with mildly better economy even on a more power oriented map. The thing that I've been told holds the CRs back is the EGT's tend to be on the high side when pushing the power, not that 200+bhp from what is otherwise a 2.0 4 cylinder diesel is much to be scoffed at.
  19. The noise is just something you seem to get on variable vane/geometry turbos. Gutting the DPF will increase the noise as DPFs are fairly restrictive to begin with, coupled with a map which may change the characteristics of when the car comes on boost and how strong will also make the noise seem more noticable. You tend to notice it less at higher revs just because of the increased engine noise and even road noise and because of the rate the exhaust gasses will be flowing out. It's nothing to worry about. If a new turbo was starved of oil it would have failed pretty rapidly (any turbo would fail in fact regardless of age)
  20. It's not got the bolt missing out of the centre of the compressor pulley has it?
  21. Cheers mate. If I wasnt after 19s I'd still have the red BBS :-(. Oh and it turns out I do have a couple of pics of the bonnet lifter which I painted the brackets for so it didnt stand out and looks like it should have always been there.
  22. If I had it on this comp in the living room I'd have had a quick bash. Looks promising though.
  23. Cheers man. It's probably about where I want it to be bar the paint, but always a bonus if others like it.
  24. Ahh fair point, mind you I'd try them and then photoshop it so that I'd want to get it lower sooner
