  1. If no maxidot, use vcds or take to dealer (charge varies some dealers do it foc others charge £50-80) to invoke tourist mode
  2. For my 59 Elegance 1.8 DSG, audi quoted between £400 and £800 (approx), depending on current miles and miles per year and £ excess.
  3. DSG judder is a well known problem. Report to dealer and SUK asap
  4. Water in boot well - common problem, search this site for possible remedies
  5. One of the best threads I've followed on this forum. Glad you sorted it out.
  6. Yup, since having car serviced just before Xmas rear window has heavy condensation. Never had this problem before. Boot well had half inch water which I cleared out on Box Day (had some sunshine for a few hours). Water returned within a couple of days. Water pours out of vents and runs down into boot well. Rest of boot is completely dry. Will take it to dealer to rectify, it's out of warranty so will have to pay up.
  7. Change is good but no change is better.
  8. I hope it's legit, it cost me over £200. Software doesn't like me - I'm still using vista and xp. Even doing this reply has taken 2 goes.
  9. When I connect to net the vcds asks me to update. If I don't do so will this cause a problem - I still have the 59plate Elegance and it'll be a long while before I update car.
  10. My neighbour has just finished extending his house. The side of the extension is only 6ins from and parallel to my (shortish and narrow) drive where I park my car. Today, I discovered that he has put two extractor fans on the new side wall which will discharge across my drive. Because his plot is 4ft below mine, the side of my parked Skoda is going to get a nice warm blast of stale air and washer/dryer exhaust from his new kitchen and utility room. The side of my car will be no more than a couple of feet away from the fan outlets, do you think its paint work will be damaged. Maybe I.m worrying too much.
  11. In light of all these dsg problems around the world what have VW, Audi, Skoda UK operations got to say? Has there been any adverse comment in Euroland (other than Sweden)?
  12. Take it thru car wash - good idea. Aerial won't turn more than 10 degrees. It's pretty well stuck (car is 3.5 years old). I take the point about existing cement dust being ground into paintwork, so car cover is off the menu. Next best thing is to park on street and inform insurer that car no longer parked on driveway over night. I could move car on and off drive each morning/night but street parking is very tight especially as all the builders start at 07.00. There are 3 houses in immediate vicinity having various extensions including one for a home cinema. Wife is right, let the rain wash the dust away! Anyway thanks for suggestions.
  13. I need to cover my Octavia with suitable plastic car cover to protect from dust and cement from next door's building activities (massive extensions back, side, and front - austerity what austerity). Most covers do not allow for the aerial so it'll have to be removed. Does it just unscrew or is this a dealer visit. Wife says I worry too much, rain will wash any cement/dust off.
  14. Head of VAG/Skoda PR could be right. Yeh lets all have a good laugh.
  15. I am told that in USA there is a similar warranty extension for dsg. Of course consumer protection there is stronger than UK and possibly elsewhere in Euroland.
  16. from Sunday Times motor section: Best buy - MI Witness £250 Unobtrusive simple to set up and use, plus good software. Best for picture quality - Roadhawk HD £270 Captures incredibly crisp detail even on dark rainy days Best for compact design - FineVu CR-500 £290 Excellent picture but expensive and no GPS Best for budget - Smartcam 2 HD £85 Feels cheap but has plenty of options to help you optimise performance Off topic but you did ask
  17. Yes I fully understand how you feel, especially about Audi idiots, but who does a proper autobox these days?
  18. That means the directors can vote themselves top whack and none of the members ie customers notice or complain.
  19. Cleared the fault codes and all OK so far. New scan shows no faults.
  20. OK I understand. Sorry for being dim witted about this.

    Why?

Car parks are nothing compared to a cross channel ferry during busy summer weekend. I used to have an old Honda which I always used on those xings, covered in mud and cow ****. Only once did the next car manage to bang mine. I asked my passenger (drinking pal) to do the same to him. Nowadays I always try to go mid-week.
  22. Don't understand. Why should WD have an account with Skoda. The contract is between you and WD. Obviously I'm missing something!
