  1. Got it, thanks Mike. 5L0998225B and 5L0998226B - ordered one for each side, under £5 each. Phew, I had a horrible sinking feeling when I discovered the problem, what a great result - thanks to all
  2. @MikeTheThinker Thanks, that is very useful. From initial investigation I think part 25 has broken off, which looks like it can be bought separately? Do you have access to a part number please?
  3. @MikeTheThinker To be honest I was already late for an appointment when I discovered the bodge, and I have no idea how to remove the lamp until I've done some research. @Frenchtone It's the nearside lamp, and it wobbles about against the wing so I'm guessing it's the top lug - there are lamps on eBay today at £175 with the same damaged lug
  4. Yes, that's what I found. Is there another way to make these adjustments?
  5. Messing under the bonnet today I noticed something tucked under the headlamp bracket, closer examination revealed a thick rubber glove which had been jammed into place to keep the lamp in place and hide damage to its brackets. This damage must have happened ages ago as there are signs of scuffing where the headlamp has been moving over time. Does anyone know of a headlamp repair kit, or do I have to suck it up and buy the whole lamp?
  6. A question for those who have been stalking this forum for a few years ! Some years ago there was a suggested VCDS fix for cars that would not start when warm as follows; 01 ENGINE Security access 12233 Adoptions Channel 1 Adjustment available from 0-300 And another; 01 ENGINE Security access 12233 Adoptions Field 5 Adjust from 32784 to 33250 I remember trying this myself on my BKC Touran in around 2014-2015, it certainly didn't fix the hot start issue which is usually battery/starter related - but from memory it slightly increased fueling around tickover, and therefore may assist my low speed running fuel starvation problems. I tried to access these methods today to try and resolve an issue I have with my CAYC 1.6tdi, but I couldn't find the adjustments in the VCDS menus. Is this access still possible, is it possible with CAYC? Can someone guide me? Thanks
  7. I had this problem with my 2007 Roomie Scout - there is a section in the handbook which describes how to open the tailgate can be open from the inside. Have a look at this post as see whether you can use any of the info
  8. I was in my local the other night when in conversation with some locals when we realised we were all Skoda/VW owners with the 1.6tdi motor in their cars, and yes the subject of EGR, DPF, turbo vanes, injectors, archoil etc came up ! Everyone had one issue or another; mine is turbo whistle and frequent limp mode caused by overboost, others had shocking fuel economy (30-35mpg was mentioned), blocked DPF, EGR etc etc. What shocked me, and the reason for this post ... one lad reckons he takes off the EGR pipe which leads from the head to the 'throttle valve' assembly a few times a year and sprays EGR/carb cleaner into the outlet in the head towards the EGR valve using a long flexible pipe (ie against the usual flow of gases), he reckons the spray gets into the EGR, assists with breaking down deposits and helps to keep it working ok. His VW Caddy 1.6tdi seems to go, stop and function as it should. But? ... Surely not??
  9. @sQasim if I were in your position I would be looking at the forums of similar models (superb and octavia 2) to see if others have had the same problems. From memory I believe Eddie-NL (?) has suggested that Octavia 3 buttons don't work on Yetis ... don't quote me! The info is out there, Google is your friend
  10. You have MFSW, therefore you don't need the rocker on the right stalk. Although you have a car registered in 2012, it doesn't help with which model year it is (some cars sit unsold for a while) and that information is essential when it comes to retro-fitting (my 2010 and my 2012 have a different slip ring/steering controller system). You could really do with a full VCDS read out which will give you an idea of the control units fitted to your car. Once you have slip ring, steering controller part numbers from the VCDS print you can then look at the upgrades for those parts. There is a useful page on Ross Tech that sets out what parts perform which function etc, have a look; http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions
  11. There's a sub forum on Briskoda for VCDS queries, requests etc.
  12. There is no rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk, do you have MFSW?
  13. You need VCDS, there will be someone in the club in your vicinity who will usually assist for a drink.
  14. Very helpful, thanks
  15. I'm aware that it's important to buy OEM when replacing a MAF sensor. I've seen old posts suggesting Bosch made the original part for my Greenline 1.6tdi however, mine is made by Continental and has the part number 03L 906 461 Is this an original fitment?
  16. I think comfort and handling are mutually exclusive, I have a Greenline 2 1.6tdi and will be softening the rear springs and swapping to 215/60/16 tyres.
  17. @Frenchtone good call.
  18. Ok, I managed to reach the item with the assistance of a small child's small hands. Self contained, tuning box perhaps but not one I've seen before. Plug has catches on the one side to fit in a VAG socket.
  19. No ! I don't have a Scooby Doo what it is! It does look like it's come off something and has fallen to this position. High current? Perhaps for a webasto?
  20. Agreed it's (hopefully) nothing that should be connected, everything works as it should anyway. It's down behind the drivers side headlamp, I wonder if it's a webasto loom?
  21. b1ackb1rd posted a topic in Skoda Yeti
Checking the oil level when my eye fell in this. What is it? Should I be worried? 2010 S spec 2.0tdi CFHA
  22. @aubrey brilliant, many thanks
  23. My 2012 Yeti turned out to be a Cat C, damnit so has probably been the subject of a fair about of work. I wondered whether the over/under boost problems I'm having are the result of vacuum pipes have been fitted incorrectly during the rebuild. Does anyone have a link to a diagram? I found a few for 2.0tdi engines but nothing for the 1.6tdi.
  24. Any experiences please, advise, warnings etc concerning remaps for the 1.6tdi CAYC engine which is in various outputs up to 105hp (?) in several VAG models, that can be placed all on one thread. The engine isn't VAG's best effort, there are known injector issues and the car is affected by the 'fix' and the 'hunting idle' problem etc - have these issues been cured, or made worse by remaps? Is an OBD generic remap possible, or is 'open heart' surgery required on the ECU?
