How to Switch Off Fake Engine sound using ODIS
Nice write up, I just wish someone had mentioned it was under engine address, as it took longer to find than execute the change. But it should help others locate it, if they are struggling 🤝

If you wait for Pab567 he will be able to advise what's fitted, and you can determine what update can be performed.

Help needed please - West Yorkshire
A brief update, I tried my old VCDS HEX-CAN-USB (really only made to talk to 2015 motors roughly, but not fully able to talk to the new ones) and couldn't find A9 module. So out with ODIS, and I still was struggling as it was not a main module, but actually a sub module off Engine 01 address. We did look all over google to find a guide as to where to look exactly, but alas very lacking. Hopefully FW will post up, or me the images if needed. Seeing the smile from him when the dreaded sound was disabled was priceless, it must be really awful.

Is There an SD Card in the Octavia Mk IV?
Most likely the guide is not updated, iirc you can update from a USB stick "offline" so to speak. You need to extract the files into the root of the USB stick, insert and leave it a day or two. Ideally see if you can get some map information from it to compare before/after. Hopefully someone will confirm this is the case for them now, if there was an SD slot, it would be inside glovebox.

It should be at the bottom of your front window glass visibible from outside of your car, and on your car document papers hopefully. Check you write 17 characters correctly.

Gearbox Code on Boot Sticker: RER = DQ200 0CW???
It might also be related to the file (map) stored on the TCU for each different car/engine combination. I cannot find a definitive answer, at the moment either.

Gearbox Code on Boot Sticker: RER = DQ200 0CW???
I cannot say for sure, but it could be about the mounting plate for different engines, Petrol vs Diesel and all the output shaft connections. FWD vs. 4x4 and so on.

That's not enough information. What is your software train value, hold down Menu/Setup button for about 10 seconds to enter engineering menu and locate.

Pads & polish
Basic advice here to give you a rough quick guide. Make sure it's dual action polisher, very safe to use compared to just an orbital. Rule I stick to with polishing is to start with soft pad and a light cutting compound, always wet the pad with quick detailer spray, and not too much polish. Work over a smaller area and make sure to fully work the polish down. Check results with a decent light, usually LED torch is good for this. If the scratches remain, then you need a little more product and try again. Depending on the paint hardness, and if it has had a respray, you might find it acts differently. You can then maybe swap to a medium pad on same low cut compound, or soft pad with medium cut. It's something you get a feel for. Practice on a scrap panel, but it will not have same finish as you car, but good to try. Slow is fast, don't rush, and watch some YouTube vids as well to see advice also. You may already know, but maintaining the finish is harder, so make sure your wash technique is good so you don't damage the finish.

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
@sykora I will await the reply to earlier from Pab567, as he deals with the hardware side. I just help him by sending firmwares, so keeping him free for his work time. I can anwer some of the above, just prefer to wait on his sage advice.

The right interval for timing belt replacement on TDI190?
Do you know your engine code? It should be with your vehicle papers. Failing that, PM your VIN I will take a look quickly.

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
I will answer the best I can, I don't deal with the hardware side, just provide firmware updates. 1. As far as I can tell, you have done everything possible to load files from emergency recovery. 2. The fact that it cannot perform recovery, tells me it's a big fault with HW. 3. Dealer price is insane, even with 50% "goodwill" contribution (if lucky!). 2nd hand parts, will have CP, Component Protection, which has to be lifted to code into your car. If the part is stolen, then it will be refused and you might loose the money. Best choice is a breaker yard if you take removal keys to find the same 04xx firmware that was on yours. Then you still might have issues coding at a main dealer, outright refusal. An independent garage could be more forthcoming if they have ODIS online connection. EDIT: @pab567Would probably be able to send you a system to plug and go maybe as he can work magic with tools no doubt.
