Its amazing how much smaller our old cars were in comparison to newer cars , this was brought home to me just now in a traffic queue , an original Mini was stopped next to a Fiat 500 , the Fiat was roughly a 1/3rd wider again than the Mini yet we consider the Fiat small .

Yes and quite a nice looking car it was
-
No its an Opel Manta B Berlinetta , used to be a rare site on uk roads in the 70s then they brought out the Manta C which is the one used in rallying and the one most people associate with the Manta name .

Weekend car - convertible with budget anywhere up to £5k
deecee replied to Dr Zoidberg's topic in General Automotive Chat
Get an old MG , they cost peanuts to run and maintain , good fun to drive , feels faster that they really are , biggest bugbear is rust , BUT , this opens you and swmbo to having a little fun doing historic rallies , you dont have to be a Mikkola they are not about speed but timing . -
I had one exactly like this but with gold spokes , best car i ever owned boy do i wish i had never sold her

So, exactly how common are problems with PD engines?
deecee replied to JezF1000's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Ive just sold my PD vrs after 87000 miles , the only problem i had was an injector failure which coincided with the recall so it cost me nothing , other than that it was a great car and i am now looking hard for its replacement . As long as you service correctly using the correct oil you should have no problems . -

Very true we all did stupid things in our Teens , but this guy is middle aged and holds a position of authority in safety of all things .

Personally i think he should have gone to jail , the guy is a first class hypocrical Knob . I sincerely hope his company gives him the boot as his actions clearly demonstrate his disdain for H&S and his total lack of intelligence .

Polgooth inn is great place to eat , situated in Polgooth just outside St Austell . Polpeor Cafe on the Lizard , best Prawn salad you will ever see and great view , beach is dog friendly but not sandy . Most beaches on the Roseland are dog friendly would recommend Carne and Towans both have plenty of space . If your going to tour , Padstow and Trebarwith Strand are dog friendly , DONT go and buy Rick Steins fish and chips , you pay a fortune and a lot of local chippies do it better and cheaper .

Any buying advice for second hand VRS?
deecee replied to Ranger69's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mileage is everything , i have been looking to replace mine for the last month , dealers seem to price according to mileage 11 plate < 40k £12k>£13k 12 plate with 50k generally around £13k+ - 12 plate < 40k around £14000+ - , dont be put off by low mileage , i bought my last one at 4 years old with 19k and had 87k virtually trouble free miles out of it . i see you like black / white so check these out http://www.gumtree.com/p/skoda/-2012-skoda-octavia-blackline-vrs-tdi-170-limited-edition-/1121643841 http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/610440668/skoda-octavia-20-tdi-cr-vrs-blackline-5dr.html http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506214518159?radius=1500&sort=default&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&channel=cars&fuel-type=diesel&page=1&model=octavia&make=skoda&search-target=usedcars&keywords=vrs&maximum-mileage=up_to_25000_miles&engine-size-cars=2l_to_2-5l&postcode=ch35qy&logcode=p the last one would probably cost 15k at a dealer -
Basically there are 2 types of hull - cathedral and planeing they both have advantages and disadvantages Cathedrall when viewed from striaght ahead looks to have 3 bows , a variation on this is the semi cathedral where the centre bow is proud of the side bows pro s stable does not roll much when stationery and so comfortable for fishing Cons takes more power to push through the water , slaps like mad in heavy waves (semi Cathedral helps combat this) Planeing Single hull looks more like speedboat Pros Fast and cuts through waves easier Cons Can roll a lot when moored and induce seasickness I used to have my own boat and did a lot of competion fishing and i cant emphasis enough about safety , the sea does not take prisoners , make sure you educate and equipe yourself fully before venturing out , Find your local club and join them its great to have friends around when things go wrong .

Sitting in the sun outside a lovely riverside cafe in Llanwrst , drinking coffee and munching fresh warm scones whilst watching our totally mad Springer carry out life safeing duties on every drowning rock at the bottom of the river .

Try putting it on the free adds like gumtree or preloved , i have just sold my VRs admittedly cheaper than yours advertised it Saturday sold it Monday . Have been searching hard for a low mileage replacement and 12 plates at dealers seem to go for between 12500>14000 depending on mileage , although some dealers are dreamers i saw an 09 L&K with under 20000 miles for £12000

it was clean of debris unlike the gutters on the side of the road where he was riding , it has high grip surface , it had no traffic pedestrian or otherwise , it was definately the safest place to be .

PIg ignorant cyclists , saw one cycling down a busy main road slowing everybody and causing an obstruction whilst right next to him is a totally deserted and dedicated cycle lane on the pavement
