  1. I use the coasting mode, a bit of forword planing as you drive and you can see a difference to the economy on the eco screen. A touch of the brake or throttle and you have full control.
  2. Sounds like the head gasket. Is there white gunge in the engine oil filler cap?

I have a Nextbase 212, easy to fit and hard wire behind the glovebox, does all thats required and not too expensive. Good tutorial on here if you search reguarding fitment.
  4. Sure looks a far easier option.
  5. To be fair I have had 3 Skoda DSGs, 2 Octavia and the Karoq and all have been easy to control at slow speed in forward or reverse. My driveway is also very steep but no problem, the auto brakes do at times bring me to an abrupt halt thinking I'm going to hit the garage.😂 I had a Citroen Piccasso auto some years ago, that was a pig.
  6. As always, go and sit in one and get in and out a few times, and see if you can get an extended test drive in the one that you fancy. We are in our mid 70s and the karoq is ideal.
  7. Roottoot, as you know I have been told my 4x4 DSG firstly had a sealed for life box! then a Skoda direct advisor said NO it's 40,000 miles for the oil change. He was getting it contact with my dealer, he then contacted me and said it is due at 80,000 miles for changing? I went to the dealer and showed him ( the service tech ) the chat transcript and 80,000 text msg. He checked and showed me the screen and sure enough it is for my model due an oil change at 80,000 miles. Right or wrong I am taking them at their word . I have saved all communication ! I have the warranty and will trust in that. Skoda are experts in confusion.

I have contacted Skoda online chat and they have confirmed that the oil should be changed at 40,000. He will be in touch with the dealer on Monday and will let me know the outcome I expect the dealer will also call me.🙄,

roottoot I do know you know your stuff about DSG boxes so I will get in touch with the dealer. The person who told me is a service advisor who has worked there for a long time? I did question him about it as I wanted the service doing this year a bit earlier than required at 30,000 as next year it will need the cam belt / water pump and wanted to spread the cost. Thanks for your advice.

Bit of good news , the dealer service guy contacted me today for my service and I was expecting to have to pay extra to have the DSG oil changed at £200 plus! He then asked if it was a 6 or 7 speed box, told him 7 he then told me it doesn't need doing on this box. Great to know that they don't all want to rip you off for work that isn't necessary.

I have same model, same year but DSG. Great car never had a problem ( ooww dear what have I said ) it replaced my 64 reg Octy Scout DSG which was the best car I have owned and apart from the power difference the Karoq is better with more practical seating and better spec.
  12. If the car is more than 3 years old and is serviced at a main dealer it should get full breakdown cover in with the service! but ask and confirm!! The All in One plan is pretty good too. Just my opinion😉
  13. It's a similar problem to the windows opening when the key's are in your pocket and the button gets pressed.
  14. The most sensible place to keep one, as long as you have your wallet ! Better than keeping it in the glove box when the doors don't open.
  15. Our Octavia used to revert to Germany at tines a few years ago same 12 reg. Have you tried tapping the square spidery symbol to the right of the display ? that takes the display to your present position.
  16. My Karoq is an 18 reg and at the last service last February my battery was changed under warranty! I had never noticed a problem with the original but nice to know the dealer was on the ball.
  17. Spot on! thanks for your help. Looked like it was fully back! but did as you said and slammed it back a few times and that did it. This is what this forum is for, much obliged👍.
  18. Hi, I have a problem with one of the outer Vari flex seats, it will not release from the floor when I lift the release handle! I have looked at the other side and the release catches are on the inside of the mechanism and I can see no way of getting to them! Anyone had the same trouble ? and how did you fix it, much obliged if you can help.
  19. Be careful driving with the tailgate open, exhaust fumes will probably be sucked into the car! Had a Ford Falcon estate in Australia with a wind down tailgate window and soon found out.
  20. The Toyota RELAX , scheme which seems to be, One year warranty same as normal manufacturers warranty each time you have the car serviced at a Toyota dealer, and they add that servicing costs will not go up!! Seems simple and very good and will go on until the car is 10 years old. If only Skoda were to offer the same.
  21. Same here, I have bought 4 new cars from them over the last 12 years and found them to be fine! In fact the best car dealer I have dealt with. Maybe I am just lucky.
  22. Get a BBB pump head replacement ,around £6 off Amazon / Ebay will fit car and Presta valves. I replaced the screw type on my Ring car tire inflator with one.
  23. What are the chances of Skoda and others matching the new Toyota Relax 10 year warranty? Makes a Toyota look a very good prospect for long term ownership.
  24. At normal lights I just brake ( auto hold ) and stay in drive, at a 4 way set of lights or in a long queue I will go to N. I have had 3 DSG cars and would not have any other.
  25. At my last service I got complementary full AA cover given, I have a 3 year old Karoq. I did have to ask for it and point out it was in the Skoda services info.
