I have the -50mm cup kit on our VRS CR. Front is 640mm from ground to centre of wheel arch and rear is 650mm. That's with the standard 18" wheels on. It is a bit harsher than Eibach springs but been fine on ours.

Got Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on our VRS, A3 and Boxster. They are pretty good. I see there's a Rainsport 5 now but not tried them.

need help with what shocks to buy
FatblokeVRS replied to GF06NYH's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Get a H&R cup kit or Bilstein B12 kit to upgrade and lower the suspension. I have a full set of good original struts and 3 springs off my 2010 cr VRS for sale. Not sure if they would fit. -
I fitted Pagid disks and pads all round on the VRS. They have been good. (Euro Car Parts). Got a Whiteline RARB on too and its been great (along with the H&R -50mm Cup kit).

Splash Panel, brake disc Rear
FatblokeVRS replied to tanner1200's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
If you get new panels, if you cut the centre bit of metal out, you can fit them without stripping everything down. They react chemically with the bolts and it makes them fatigue and break off after time. You could try painting the fixing holes or try washers on them. -
Ours has a slight tint. Check that there is no distortion around the edge 6 inches right round the screen when you look through. Best to check against something straight like a kerb or straight painted road marking. I have had several like that in different vehicles and had to push for OE screens.

Warm rear wheels - Poor MPG
FatblokeVRS replied to softscoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Jack up the back and try spinning the wheels to see or hear if there is anything causing an issue. The wheels should spin freely if all is OK. Also check the handbrake is releasing properly. When one of my wheels got hot, I stripped, cleaned and regreased the caliper pins , brake pads and slides etc. Problem solved. -

Looks good. We did ours race blue to match the car. It looks much better with the grille surround done. -
What do you think of these sparks plugs?
FatblokeVRS replied to Aj77's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Denso used to be very good. Toyota used them. Not sure what they are like now though. -
Instrument gauges working but pointers not lit
FatblokeVRS replied to engineertk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
There was a company on ebay a while back that tested the instrument cluster and replaced the faulty led's etc. Can't find it now. I need to get mine done too. The speedo needle doesn't light up. Anyone know where does the repairs now?? Found it....... https://totaltronics.com/instrument-cluster-repairs/skoda/skoda-octavia-mk2-instrument-cluster-repair/ -

Are there any links to other VAG vehicles? I am looking for a workshop manual for a 2016 diesel Audi A3 (8V chassis - same as Octy mk3). -

2007 vrs tdi what is this leak
FatblokeVRS replied to rjctrading's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Give the area a good clean and maybe carefully pressure wash it. You then may be able to see exactly where it's coming from. Need to clean it anyway to minimise any contamination risk if you are going to be pulling bits off. -
suspension jobs ><
FatblokeVRS replied to FromTheDarkness's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Normally if the drop links are causing a problem, just cut them off with a small grinder. -
You can get clicking from worn cv joints, normally when turning though. My old astravan had a weird issue with the cv joint where it gave a vibration / wobble when accelerating, even slight acceleration and it would go away if you eased off the throttle. Does the noise change if the steering angle is changed? The fact that theres more than one click per revolution could be the cv joint.

FatblokeVRS replied to Alasdair1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Replaced the radiator in mine a while back. Think this is the stuff I used. https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/triple-qx-purple-concentrated-antifreeze-coolant-g13-5ltr-523770491 -
It was cleaned a while ago. Not sure if they did the procedure above. If the adaption was done now does that then set it back to zero? Does it then re-learn the actual ash level? How do you do a service regeneration?
-
It was physically removed and cleaned as far as I am aware.

Hi All Was scanning my VRS with VCDS and had a wee play around and found some info on the DPF. Car has done nearly 95,000 miles now and we had the DPF cleaned out a while back after it choked with a remap. Are these readings ok? 13 mbar Particle Filter Different. Pressure 99 ml Particle Filter Oil Ash Volume 21.9 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (spec.) 18.3 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (act.)

That's the sump cover. They are like a felt type material. Should be held on to the sump with plastic clips I think. There should maybe be a large plastic under tray too. I see its been in getting work done? Sometimes the garages lose (bin) the covers. They lost my sump cover in the audi dealership on my A3 recently. Made them put a new one on. I would push them to replace the sump cover and under tray.
