  1. I used the larger nut at the top as ground for my dashcam install. Can't comment on the boot.
  2. I trust you'll be writing a letter of apology to Skoda That said, if memory serves me when you go into 'Postcd' mode it defaults to the numeric keypad because all postcodes start with a number don't they... #simplystupid
  3. I paid that 9 years ago for a detachable towball on a Mk II so seems a good price to me.
  4. I've never noticed my 2016 car doing that so maybe it's a feature in later models (or maybe I'm not using the right hill). There's a steep hill or two heading south towards Meadowhall and I just use the 'up' paddle to put the car back into gear when it's getting close to the speed limit.
  5. You don't say if you've a manual or DSG but if it's the latter then yes, it's gone into coasting mode when it doesn't need to apply a load to maintain momentum and the 'D' indicator in the maxidot will display 'E' instead.
  6. Autotecnic - Audi | BMW | Mercedes | Seat | Skoda | VW | Specialists Sheffield - near Meadowhall bus/tram interchange. I've used them for all my Skodas once they were out of warranty.
  7. I've used Auto Tecnic whenever my cars have been out of warranty and have always been happy with their service. They're based at the back of Meadowhell.
  8. I'd assume that the struts are linear actuators or something of their ilk rather than gas struts. Given the crunchy sound that come from mine (they sound like they've been lubed with sand and salt) they're definitely not being filled with gas
  9. This year it was a minor service, DSG service, brake fluid change and MOT for me and I almost fainted at the 580 bill at the indie that I use
  10. Until we sold the caravan in March I towed a 1350kg single axle about 15,000 miles (not all in one go...) And it was trouble free. Average mpg whilst towing was 22 to 23 and I specced my car with the factory fit towbar.
  11. If it's a pinhole that's accessible I'd be tempted to just patch it up with a blob of epoxy
  12. Could it be your rear suspension? Mine sometimes gets a bit noisier going over large bumps depending on the weather (and it's been hot round here for the last few days).
  13. +1 Mine have a couple of spots which are obviously from genuine chips but I also have one wheel where it seems to have started from around the plastic Skoda cap and worked outwards.
  14. Mine has lane assist and adaptive cruise and I rarely ever use them as mine came with a steering wheel and pedals too so I can manually control direction and speed Joking apart I'm not sure what benefit there is to the former as if you need the car to correct your position then you're not concentrating enough to be driving. As for the latter I've not really found a happy medium between acceleration (too slow when traffic speeds up) and braking (slowing later than I would). Still, if you do a lot of motorway driving you may find them of benefit. If I were speccing a new one I'd definitely go for a rear view camera again as that's very handy for general manoeuvring as well as backing out of spaces in wide-angle view.
  15. I'd guess that there's a load sensor somewhere in the mechanism that knows what an unloaded ball measures and can identify the weight when it's loaded.
  16. Took it to distant lands (Castleford) to pick up pick up my daughter's new car. Subsequently embarrassed by the chrome window trim popping off on the passenger side (second time that's happened with same daughter - maybe I'll trade her in) after I parked it up. When I got home I took to the rubber trim for a second time to cut off the offending piece. I'd already trimmed a small piece off some weeks ago when it happened. This time I took the entire chrome trim off the front window, cut it down to a sensible minimum then refixed the chrome. Though I never had an issue with the driver's side the dealer 'fixed' that (i.e. did a half-*rsed job until I made them do it again) but looks like they never did the passenger side. Odd that it took 6 years to manifest itself.
  17. The independent place that I take mine has access to the VAG system to view and update the service record. The paper copy I receive from them is identical to the dealer copy.
  18. I changed mine again the other day (it seems to eat Duracell CR2032s) and I can just unclip it at the side with a plastic trim tool without pressing anything down the emergency key slot or taking the emergency key out.
  19. Yes, you can use postcodes to select the destination. If memory serves me when you tap on the street input there's a second button to switch to postcode. It is a bit backwards in that it then defaults to numbers and you have to tap ABC to start entry
  20. Sounds like you have a Mk II and I don't think flappy paddles were ever an option so I'd assume that there's no provision for retrofitting. Others may be along to correct me though
