Is this the factory fitted towbar?
If it's not used a lot then it can get stuck rather than dropping down. When that happens I spray some white grease on the joint and wiggle it up and down a bit.

Battery emergency
You youngsters with your Internet humour As the car has hardly been used the 12v message was no surprise, that's why it had been placed on charge once a month. In fact the week before it had been on charge for 8 days and the day before there had been no message at all and stop-start was working when I used it at a couple of traffic lights. That day I started the car to move forwards a few feet to open the garage door then turned it off. Minutes later I came to start it again and it was dead as a dodo.

Battery emergency
Happened to me between Christmas and New Year a couple of days before a 200 mile trip. No warning at all apart from an occasional 12v low message for a year which cleared after a trickle charge. Had Green Flag out to get it started and off I went to Halfords. Changed my own battery in the MkII but those DIY days are gone now

I'm still hanging on before I update my maps 😀

Towing with Superb Estate DSG
I always used DCC and steering set to Sport and the rest on Normal. Not sure about later models but Stop/Start isn't automatically disabled when towing so turn that off too. Setting the drive to Sport is just going to create a lot of noise and drink fuel.

Left front wiper
"We should put a feature in that saves the wipers wearing out or damaging the screen " "Cool, and so we'll fit high quality wiper blades too yeah?" "Hell no, we'll put the cheapest on that we can find."

Coasting.......
@Berisfordin Eco mode does your current gear display change from D1, D2 etc to E1, E2? My MY16 shows E in front of the gear number unless it's coasting then it just says E. The revs also drop to idle and when I accelerate again you can feel the gear engage and the revs increase.

Coasting.......
You don't say whether you have DSG or not but if you do then it always coasts in eco mode (subject to not tapping the brake, obviously) otherwise it can be enabled/disabled in the Individual settings under Drive Mode.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
What did you do to them in particular? Must admit I don't see a huge difference (sorry ) I'd planned to snow foam/wash/strip wax/clay/polish and wax but I didn't have the energy so it's had a quick wash instead. Bit blowy here so I've mainly jet-washed myself.

Boot rattle
I would have thought move the wedges up not down so they press harder on the equivalent rubber wedge on the boot lid 🤔

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Rectal temperature probe for rear passenger comfort? 😆
-
Ignition switch (w/ Kessy) restoration
Not long before I'll have to do mine by the feel of it 😒

Windows opening themselves
I went through a phase of accidentally opening the boot by squishing the keys when putting on my shoes in the morning. I now leave the keys out of my pocket during such activity 😆

Strange doubling up of music folders on Columbus
Didn't get around to checking for a while but nope, looks clean when viewed on my PC. Strangely I also had one doubled up folder which didn't then play each song twice. Chuffed if I know. I'll just format the card each time I think 🙂

Looking at buying 2015 Superb 2.0 TDI - high mileage an issue? Upgrade HU to Android auto?
My UK spec March 2016 L&K has a tv tuner as standard though it was dropped to being an option not long after. It also has Android Auto as standard too though I think it's wired only. I tried it once then never used it again. Maybe you won't need to change anything?

Skoda roadside assistance when towing a caravan
Caravan has gone now but I used Mayday via the Caravan Club whilst we had it. Fortunately never had to use it but I think the CC bit meant they'd also take longer caravans or some such.

Was Android Auto Support an optional extra or included on some models?
My March 2016 L&K has Android auto (wired onljy as mentioned above). No idea how well it works as I tried it out briefly then uninstalled the app soon after, EDIT: that's the Columbus with physical buttons.

Manœuvre and front assist
I think it's only supposed to detect moving objects. I'm not convinced that's the case though as there are a few narrow roads near me where you end up quite close to parked cars whilst following a sharp curve and it's screamed at me to put the brakes on. Ask you wife to jig up and down a bit

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Serviced and MOT'd today. 6 years old and 30k miles with a few advisories carried over from last year (rear pads, front shock misting and corroded front springs) plus a new one for front disc wear. About to be taxed for another year so altogether that's £560 out of my wallet this morning 😬

Haldex 5 service interval
Haldex after two oil changes and just under 30k miles. 12k of that was towing a caravan. First oil change was done by dealer who refused to clean filter. Second by local indie this morning.

Battery replacement advice?
When I started the car after the battery swap the dashboard lit up like Blackpool illuminations (well, a couple of lights came on including the steering symbol). The fitter had me turn the wheel full let lock then full right lock and back to centre and it cleared all the errors. I presume it re-calibrated the steering position once it had been told the extremes. I then had a stop/start error whilst driving home but that cleared once I stopped the car and then restarted it.

Battery replacement advice?
Loss of power shouldn't be an issue. When mine was swapped the dashboard errors cleared by turning the wheel full left to right and back followed by a short drive and restarting the car at the end. Only thing lost was current trip computer stats.

Strange doubling up of music folders on Columbus
First time I've been in the car for a few days so I tried ejecting the card and reinserting it later. I still had a doubled-up folder so back to copy/format/copy back for me.
