  1. Hi Damien. Flush would be nice, aslong as there's no chance of arch scraping (my car is on standard suspension, but could it be an issue loaded up with 4 adults?)
  2. Hi all. I know the usual go to on the 220/230vrs is to go with 15mm spacers up front and 20mm on the rear. . But with the 245 having a wider rear track as standard, what's the "go to" spacing on the back? Do the geminis' and xtremes have different offsets?. . Mines on geminis' so would need to account for that too If the offsets are different. Any pics and examples welcome 😁
  3. Out of the list you have I'd put borbet and rh at the top. . Pretty sure borbet make OEM wheels for some manufacturers aswell, or they did in the 90s.
  4. I've always presumed they share the same platform so would fit. . But I just found this thread. . I was looking at some aluminium replacements yesterday on amazon. . Now I'm in 2 minds whether they will actually fit. Do you have a link to the carbon ones? Cheers
  5. Thanks @ahenners for the parts guide. Just fitted to my mk3 fl with ease. Took 10mins max. 👍👍👍👍
  6. In what colour? When I was looking meteor grey ones always seemed to command more of a premium. . But I had my heart set on that colour. . Had mine 3 months to the day now. . Paid 20k -68 plate tsi 245 dsg 24k miles on the clock. I would say what you have paid in the current climate of second hand cars is very reasonable.
  7. Repair wise, multi stage machine polish to bring the finish back . . Protection wise a ceramic coating or ppf would be the best way to go. 👍 As said somewhere above, it's most likely from the local hand carwash. . Looking at the first picture it looks like chemical etching. . The tfr they spray on the car when you initially drive in is no doubt far too strong (makes there lives easier getting muck off the car easy). . If your cars been stood in the sun the black trim will be HOT no doubt. . Spraying at tfr onto hot paint will just cause it to flash off and leave behind the etching from the chemical.
  8. If you add a 5mm spacer you are effectively dropping the offset. . So you can still use the wheel calculator, et45+5mm spacer= et40 So it would give you the poke with the spacer on. As far as I'm aware here in the UK you can have upto an Inch of wheel poking out of the arch, aslong as the tyre is INSIDE the arch. As I say tyre choice will play a roll in what is possible too. 👍
  9. Am i right in thinking even though they are 40mm springs the actual lowering is 25mm . . As the vrs is 15mm lower already from factory?.
  10. If you know your current wheels widths and offsets use this to calculate the difference in "poke" and "inset" https://www.willtheyfit.com 9.5j et45 I would have thought you will struggle for room in the inner arch, even more so up front than the back. . If your not on coilovers I think you will probably foul the strut up front. How they fit would also rely on tire sizing aswell.
  11. I'm not concerned, i used to run such a set up on a daily car with no problems at all. . I was replying to @GordoGTwho thought the ones in the pictures was quite severe. 👍
  12. It's not too severe, but also as you say not for everyone. I remember many an argument on here years ago when I was running 195/40/17 on an 8.5j rim and 185/35/17 on a 7.5j rim on my mk1 fab vrs . . Never had any problems at all. . Once did a 500 mile round trip in a day on them too.
  13. If you open the doors you will see locating holes for roof bars. They have a foot that physically sits on the edge of the roof and the strap goes under the door seal and holds them on. Thule will be the easiest most available option.
  14. Hi all. Heres my 2018 octy vrs 245 in meteor grey. Had it 6/7 weeks now, been back into skoda twice already, one with an intake problem that turned out to be a vac line had come off (which happened on my drive home!)and earlier this week to have the waterpump/housing replaced 🙈 Hopefully that's the last of the problems for a while.
  15. If your stood infront of the car. . .looking at the air ducting that goes across the front slam panel,on the left there is an opening that allows air to flow INTO the engine bay aswell as down the ducting. . You can fit a part that blocks that opening, thus forcing all of the incoming air towards the airbox . That's on the tsi cars, don't know if yours is a tdi? 👍
  16. As above its a snow grate. Common to remove them, over here we get a day or 2 of snow at best (unless you live on high ground) Blocking off the left hand side of the air ducting into the engine bay can be done with a genuine vw part. . 5Q0 129 849 Taking the snow grate out and blocking the ducting is known as "pikey intake mod" I believe.
  17. Haha! I still have my fabia. . .and one of the door shuts is still sticker bombed 😁 Around the reg and the filler cap came off along time ago though. My car between the fabia and octy didn't succumb to any sticker bombing so I think the octy will be OK 😉
  18. Though this would be the best place to post this. Combining 2 hobbies, the drone been relatively new to me (impulse buy in Feb with Christmas money) and this the first time attempting a car as the focus point. The above being shot with a dji mavic mini 1 and only edited on my phone with a free app. Music won't be to everyone's taste but is the type of music I've seen used on these types of videos. Let me know when you think. 😊
  19. Pretty much, with me literally driving it home from the dealers and getting the fault I was more in favour of it going back into skoda to be looked at rather than the AA messing about with it in a gravel carpark on the woodhead pass.
  20. Got the car back. Turned out to be a vac pipe had somehow come off on the intake, causing the problem. . Hopefully that's the end of it.
  21. Thanks for the replys, was on the phone to the supplying dealer first thing this morning. With them being 80ish miles away they told me to call my local skoda (Rainworth sheffield) and get it booked in with them. .(although I had to do it not them 🙄) They can't look at it till Tuesday but I've dropped it off with them today because I'll be at work Tuesday. Rainworth said they will scan and see if the fault code is new or a stored one that has reappeared, if its new it will be skoda warrant that covers it, if its not they will contact simpsons skoda and they will have to pay for it. They haven't supplied me with any type of courtesy car thought(earliest Rainworth had a loan car available was the 19th, which I said I'm not waiting for), but the sales guy I dealt with at simpsons is giving me a ring monday. . .so I shall see what he has to say on the matter. . I'm hoping they can offer something for the inconvenience even if its not a courtesy car. I had 5 day drive away insurance which is now useless and by the time I get the car back my own policy will have begun.
  22. So today I picked up my 68 plate 245 vrs. . 79 miles to drive home from the dealers, around 50 miles in . . . Orange engine light appears. Called the dealer up right away, they advised to pull over and get skoda assist out. Anyway the AA guy who came (very quickly). . Scanned the car and its showing - P-200600- intake-manifold/in-cylinder flow flap B1. Error message -flap sticks shut. Static fault. Hes left the code active so I can get it into skoda with it on (didn't want to clear it and it not return then skoda say there's nothing wrong) By the time all this was done the dealer I bought from was shut, but its a skoda used approved car, so my question is will a more local dealer take it in under warranty? If not am I within my rights to ask them to come and collect the car on a trailer etc? I'll be on the phone to them first thing in the morning, the sales guy I have dealt with isn't in all weekend, but I expect to get something sorted by them pretty sharpish. My day has gone from joy of getting a new car to just feeling deflated now.
  23. So today I went to look at a mk3 fl vrs 245. . And will be taking collection of it friday. While looking at the car I noticed whoever had owned it before must be related to Freddie kruger, all around the ignition slot is battered with key marks (the plastic bit that goes around the ignition hole and under the bottom of the steering column). . It's something I'll want to replace in the near future,so does anyone know the part number please? Thanks in advance.
  24. https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/racingline-performance/racingline-performance-dsg-shift-paddle-upgrade-golf-mk7/ Not cheap, but I think these look incredible and may have to get some (I don't even have a car to fit them to yet) 😂
