  1. Carbon coating the valves and intake is down to EGR, its common for direct injection engines to coke up in the valves and intake. A good fuel will help, but it won't stop it. . Being direct injection means there's no fuel flowing in over the valves to help "wash" them.
  2. Tesco momentum for me. Used to use v-power on my old car and before the prices went through the ceiling, at some points v-power has been as much as 20p a litre more than momentum round my way. . This is worth a watch if you have a spare 20mins. https://youtu.be/x0fTGaMkMPU
  3. That will probably be because the facelift has a narrower front track width. Pushing the wheels out into the arches can make a car look lower without actually lowering it.
  4. The red estate. . . On the bottom picture the back looks lower but possibly just a loaded up boot . . But the front arch gap is too much for any kind of lowering.
  5. That front arch gap definitely looks standard.
  6. Protrack wheels ONE 18 x 8 et45 Pilot sport 5 - 225/40/18 Alloy weight is 8.7kg each. (So saving around 3kg per corner versus the oem Gemini's)

  8. I notice in your video the coolant is at running temp. . So could be the aux coolant pump. . But that also usually stays "humming" after they key is completely out of the ignition so it's making me doubt if it is that. Is the noise 100% comming from under the dash and not from the back of the car?
  9. Arnt the pretorias renown for been like butter. . Not many second hand sets about that arnt buckled or flat spotted when I've looked. They are a good looking wheel though.
  10. I had my 245 tsi mapped at Awesome in December Pulled 244bhp/280lb/ft standard and 310bhp/354lb/ft after the oem+ stage1. Also had the tcu mapped which is just as impressive, instead of racing for 7th gear in drive mode it holds gears better and is much more dynamic and in sport mode it doesn't hold gears for too long unless you are tonking it (the oem tcu map always held gear for too long even under light throttle I felt) Another thumbs up for Awesome, they shut at 5.30 and my car was still strapped down to the rollers at 5.55 because the tech wasn't fully happy with a flat spot in the graph.
  11. Grille doable without taking the entire front end off?
  12. Yeah the wheel width was taken into account in my maths. 😁
  13. To get them to sit exactly the same is 13.3mm So a set of 15mm spacers would work well. https://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/car-parts/skoda/octavia/buy/wheel-spacers
  14. Glad I've found this thread. . . I'm sure I've noticed it in a little before, but today it looked like the car was on fire 😬 First thing I thought is because it's got no underbonnet insulation. . Which seems to be the case. Does anyone have the part number for the genuine insulation? And is it OK to run on a tsi? . . The bonnet is VERY WARM (alost too warm to keep your hand on) to the touch, wouldn't want the insulation going up in flames.
  15. It states in the article, you can gain a couple of mm at the most. . So you could get 5x98 wheels on a 5x100 hub Or 5x112 wheels on a 5x114.3 hub. . Etc etc. . Trying to get 5x112 wheels on a 5x100 hub . . Would mean a 6mm difference per hole, using 14mm bolts. . .simply impossible.
  16. You would have to be absolutely off your nut to try and make 5x112 wheels fit 5x100 hubs with wobble bolts. Adaptors is the easiest option, the specs posted above (6.5j et50) mean you could run a 20mm adaptor no problem. . They would probably cost what you have paid for the wheels though if you only paid £200. My opinion would be move the wheels on and stick some mk1 octy spyders on instead 👌
  17. I have michelin pilot sport 5 on my vrs, best tyres I've ever owned. . Cornering grip is superb wet or dry
  18. I've used these for my mk3 vrs octy and my partners mk3 fabia and also my dad's nissan juke. . All have been of very decent quality and you can do some customisation (coloured edges, different carpet plushness') https://carmats.co.uk/
  19. Racingline also offer discounted prices when both are bought together. . Their ecu and tcu stage1 is £801-ish on awsome gti(prices are blanketed regardless of dealer) if bought as a package. . Which was recently £640 in the black friday deals. . I'm guessing the price you have their is for separate ecu and tcu maps added together with over 1k? I priced them up recently and also phoned awsome to make sure in the package you could also get the gpf specific maps, which I was told yes. . It is a bit confusing that gpf specific maps are listed separately and not mentioned as part of the package.
  20. Did you just get the ecu remapped? Mines booked in for oem+ ecu and tcu on the 21st. . Can't wait.
  21. When I was looking I found alot of people complained they start melting/deforming around the exhaust exits. . I can't remember if it was more of a tsi problem or tdi. . Fitting is easy. . Few screws under the back bumper and pry it off. I ended up with a rieger part rather than maxton
  22. I'd Try just removing the centre resonator first and see if it's enough sound for you. . The soundaktor just needs the plug disconnecting. . .its under the scuttle panel where the wiper motor is.
  23. Have they considered your car will be a gpf model? Most of the pre gpf did seem to map to 300+bhp. . But most of the gpf specific maps I've seen pull under 300bhp. I think when gpf was fitted the injectors were also changed so might be why they make slightly less power.
  24. Following on from the above. . Worth noting mine is a facelift mk3. . So the rear track is already something like 37mm wider than the mk3 pre facelift without any spacers
  25. I recently had 140kg of sand in the boot and myself and dad in the front (200-ish-kg) and had no issues at all.. . The spacers are st suspension DZX spacers.
