  1. They're is a difference between a fault and re-calibration.If they have not attempted to look or diagnose the problem, I cannot see how they are able to pass this back to you. Whilst they may not have the equipment at their company (usually VW or Audi have it), if it is faulty they will still have to pay if its under warranty.
  2. What a load of twaddle!!!!! I've a Mk7 Golf R, which has the same system. The front assist has come to my assistance a few times (mostly not really needed!) but a couple if times it's beat me fair & square to the brake pedal. My ACC & front assist still work perfectly normally, and so they should. Why would activating or priming the brakes automatically deactivate the system? This would be covered in the manual if it was the case. I'm afraid it's another case of dealer bulls*it

  4. The main requirements of a burglar alarm are- 1. Reliability. 2. That it informs you or a call centre (text / call / email) on activation of the alarm. 3. High Visibility as a deterrent. The fact is neighbours or won't take any notice of the alarm, so you need it to inform you or an interested party. Couple this with a CCTV that you can view via your mobile device.
  5. If you are able to add the RFX module to your system (not sure which zwave controller you've got), you can then use the LightwaveRF switches which are very good & relatively cheap, and are 2 wire compatible http://www.vesternet.com/rfxtrx433e-usb-433-92-mhz-transceiver-with-antenna http://www.vesternet.com/lightwaverf-2-gang-dimmer
  6. This is where the hybrid system of Vera & the RFX module I've got is good.It can control most major technologies / brands via the one controller - Z-wave, Hue, Nest, LightwaveRF etc etc I haven't got any Hue lights as yet, but they're on my list. Quite fancy the sync with music option
  7. C2C is the broker of choice on the BMW forums. Not sure why they aren't as popular on here, but forums do get a bit cliquey. Anyhow, they are a reputable broker
  8. She's fine, just had new lenses implanted. She can now see with her bionic eyes!!!I 'll definitely put up a review. In summary it will read 'a lot slower than the R, but very comfy!!'
  9. Whilst technically true, it will prevent the crash if possible. It will take over the braking and come to a halt.I think VAG have deliberately not said it will prevent a crash, to mitigate all circumstances. Edit: just read the blurb, & it states 'under ideal conditions a collision may be completely avoided'
  10. That's different to front assist, which can only be ON or OFF
  11. Not really had much chance of late to play in the R. Mostly dashes across the M62 taking the Mrs to the eye hospital. A real pain they have introduced the Gantry level Variable speed cameras. What a ball ache! Spent more time looking at the ever changing speed limits than actually driving! The Alltrack is a biily bear bones spec. That said the level of specification is almost identical to the R, so pretty good. Didn't want to add any extra expense to my £57.78 / month lease!! Anyhow, all being well should arrive the same day as the R goes back in July
  12. The Front assist tends to deploy more when the rate of change of the distance of the car in front reduces very quickly, i.e. the car in front suddenly brakes hard and the gap reduces very quickly. At lower speeds and just coasting up to a slowly braking car, the Front Assist will probably not intervene until very late. It does work though, had a couple of times where the car in front has done just as described in the first paragraph. Quite a strange experience feeling the brake pedal disappear from your foot!
  13. That's fair enough, I know the lure of the cheapest price can be strong. However, believe it or not, I don't always choose the cheapest supplier. Other factors weigh in with good measure. Their customer service, their ability not to damage my alloys, not trying to upsell me tat and useless products etc, etc.... I also have a real problem with Hi / Lo pricing policies. That is, pricing high at list price but discounting heavily when pushed. As a small retailer myself I see this all the time, and much prefer a business offering fair prices to all. Kwik Fit are basically ripping off anyone who isn't aware of the proper, honest price. This then allows them to offer a reasonable discount to anyone whi asks as they have already made a packet from those who haven't. Don't likey :( Anyway enough of my rant!! Hope they fit your tyres well
  14. Mmmm......Indy garage give you a decent, no bull quote. Kwik Fit try to rip you off with a cheeky inflated price, & then immediately knock off £130. I can't believe you still went with them.
  15. Format to FAT32 file system. ^^^^beat me to it
  16. Why bother converting? Eelis has already confirmed the PID plays AAC files, so just drag & drop onto SD card from file explorer
  17. Not sure what file types the Citigo can play, but copying the music to an SD card is straight forward. Open File Explorer. Then open: C:/ users/ iTunes / media / music / [all your albums are here] Drag and drop onto the SD card The player in the Golf happily plays the AAC files, so woukd have thought the Citigo will too, otherwise just covert to MP3's
  18. As already said, ring 1st thing Monday. We was without heat & hot water for 7 days earlier this month as thr boiler broke. Its a royal pain in the backside, but fortunately the weathers not too bad We used a portable electric fan heater and the kettle a lot! Let's hope it's a simple resolution
  19. Mobile phones are getting bigger
  20. Most electronics companies 'expect' their customers to replace their kit every few years, including Sony. Why else would they keep adding 'new' & 'novel' features, most of which are pointless, but make the older stuff either redundant or less compatible.
  21. Nope. I offered to provide the CCTV evidence right from my intial reply to the NIP. The lack of communication from the Police seemed to dictate that not much actually happened over the last 3 months.I offered to provide it again last week but was told they were satisfied enough to not pursue the case any further, so I will keep it for posterity
  22. If they didn't know what they were doing, then they have basically flipped a coin. Turns out they guessed correct & made a profit. By the same rules they could have just lost their whole investment in the same 5 days. Wouldn't have sounded so good then :(So to answer your question, yes they have been very, very lucky.
  23. I hear what you're saying, and this was my initial thoughts. However after listening to what the Police officer had to say, it happens all the time apparently. Her full time job is dealing with this sort of stuff, so whilst the odds are long, so is winning the lottery and someone seems to win that on a regular basis!
  24. So finally, got a resolution to this at last!! Approximately 3 months after the original alleged offence and 2 months since any correspondence, I received a letter from my lease company. Basically informing me that a request had been made from the Police requesting any reports or problems of my car being cloned, and that a speeding offence had been committed. I must admit, having no easy way to check how the case had progressed other than by letter, and with such a long period since any communication from the Police I thought this had already been dismissed. Crucially this time though, on the letter from the Police was a direct phone number of the officer dealing with it A quick call revealed that the car involved was indeed identical to mine, a blue Golf with silver wing mirrors. However I explained I had CCTV of me at work at the time of the offence, and the car was always in my possession. It soon became apparent that the offence was not going to be pursued, in fact the officer said there was very little they could do based on the facts. A good result for me, albeit the only fair one, but always a nagging doubt they may have pursued it further and I could well do without the hassle. There conclusion was that there is probably another identical car with my reg plate on. They don't think it is maliciously cloned, but probably duplicated by mistake. Whilst this sounds unlikely, they reckon they see this regularly, especially with large lease companies or fleets. It may even have the correct one on the front and mine on the back! Anyway received a letter this morning from the Police to say they are following up the matter with my lease company, but will not pursue the offence any further with me
