They are still to be had. But on a 2 year lease (23+6) 5k, you're looking at an extra £75 / month for a the mileage you do

There are a few internet legend horror stories of people having engines go pop, and then warranty refused because of modifications. Just Google and ye shall find when they happen, it tends to have big financial repercussions for the owner :( However, they are very few and far between. Most warranty repairs are honoured because- 1. the mods have been removed 2. The dealer tends not to delve too deep 3. Often the mods don't actually have an influence on the warrranty claim Its a risk, albeit a small one if you take that route. Depends on your risk / reward strategy

Tyre Flat Spot/Wheel Bearing?
999pooch replied to savvy5's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Can be many things, but you need to logically go through the probable causes. Mainly through the steering wheel vibrations are often through poor wheel balance of uneven tyre wear. Maybe a weight has fallen off? I would certainly start at a tyre centre & check balancing, and also look for any flat spots when rotating -
Tyre Flat Spot/Wheel Bearing?

Is the vibration through the chasis, pedals or steering wheel? -
Considering leasing deals question about mileage.
999pooch replied to T-1000's topic in General Automotive Chat
Nope you just pay excess mileage charges. Worth checking with the individual leasing company that they don't have any tiered charges or maximum mileage allowance.Otherwise, only other consideration is to keep the vehicle within the BRVLA fair wear & tear guidelines (or potential charges), and service requirements -

Serious Q - What to do with Motorway Queue Jumpers?
999pooch replied to 2SkodaFamily's topic in General Automotive Chat
Well they did!!TBH this was definitely classed as queue jumping, only one queue existed & motorists were purposely circumventing the queue to gain an advantage. Not sure how they justified it in law, but the vast majority of people were happy they did, so no one complained -
Serious Q - What to do with Motorway Queue Jumpers?
999pooch replied to 2SkodaFamily's topic in General Automotive Chat
This became quite popular on a main road near me. People would zip up the outside (empty) lane to potentially turn right, but would go all the way round to use the original turn left, thereby cutting out the very busy queue waiting to turn left. This was until the boys in blue kept turning up and stopping any cars doing this manoeuvre and forcing them back from where they came, which meant a 1/2 mile journey back to the previous roundabout to come back again. Doesn't happen much on that roundabout now!! -
Bathroom light - silent pull chord or other options?
999pooch replied to Gaz's topic in Off Topic Chat
Exactly what we did.Put it within a double gang rocker switch on the outside. One does the hall lights, the other for the bathroom. Much prefer this than the cord -
Exactly All in. Just to add, I've just taken a PCH with CVL, & so far no problems. My lease is with VWFS. Car delivered last month & all good

I have the performance gauge screen in my new Passat Alltrack, same as the one shown in the YouTube video. I also have an additional off road screen, which brings up an altimeter, inclinometer and compass All the screens can be personalised, so each of the three dials can be flipped to a different performance / off road gauge

Boot Lip Protector - Recommendations :)
999pooch replied to 999pooch's topic in General Automotive Chat
Cheers guys, have fired off an email to them to check compatibility with the B8 Alltrack. Hopefully they have the Stainless one, as the Alltrack has quite a bit of Silver / Chrome trim -
Looking for recommendations from anyone who has purchased a boot lip protector, either plastic ABS or Stainless steel. It will be going on a new Passat Alltrack, but these things are fairly generic, so looking for a website or manufacturer that provides a good solid product at the right price

OK, I get the lie of the land now. Your a die hard Apple hater Not sure why people hate other brands. I buy whatever I like, & mix and match depending on what's hot or not. Android is fine, just not for me at the moment. My Dad is similar to you, really doesn't like it. Goes on about various aspects of what gets his goat about iOS, then I see him having similar or worse problems with his Android phone. Apparently that's OK, he'll find a solution. Might take a few day of blood, sweat and tears..........

You seem to have many problems using Apple to non Appe devices. Problems I have never encountered. The adapter was cheap (& small), about £20 including a 64Gb mini SD card. Works really well. I bought BT headphones because there are suggestions that the headphone jack will disappear with the iPhone7. BT is very unlikely to be removed. It's too popular. However, it's impossible to predict any forward evolution, and connectivity of technology. So all we can do is second guess & hope it has a decent shelf life

999Pooch's next car - Passat Alltrack 190 DSG
999pooch replied to 999pooch's topic in General Automotive Chat
Yep, R went at 10:00. Alltrack arrived at 10:50. Less than 1 hour without a car.Not bad considering they were different lease companies collecting / delivering. So simple, and confirms my thoughts that I will never OWN a new car again Only done about 100 miles in the Alltrack, so too early to do any objective review. However, let's just say I'm very impressed so far Plus points - + Interior and specification is slightly more premium than the R + Standard audio system is better than the R. Both the Sound is better and screen has better resolution (I think the MY17 R also gets the higher res screen) + Interior LED light strips that are only on the front doors on the R, are on all 4 doors in the Alltrack. Looks much better (& in white, not blue) + Standard drivers electric seat (although not passenger!), not that that bothers me + Digital rear climate control (daughter very happy) + Its big, spacious interior. Huge boot. + Standard spec includes Keyless. Wasn't expecting that + MDI lead gone, now just uses USB for full phone interface. + Radar for ACC now hidden behind the VW badge On the negative- - Slower than the R (no prizes for guessing that). Only comes with DSG, so the 190 horses it does have are smooth and it gathers pace deceptively. - Nowhere near as precise round corners, but still good for such a barge Travelling to Somerset & back over the next week, so 600 miles with 4 passengers & suitcases. So will be a good test for the Alltrack. My guess is that there will be plenty of room for passengers and their luggage. Will be interesting to see how I feel at the end & what MPG it delivers. Allready loving the DSG & ACC combo
