  1. Not necessarily. Many of the mib units don't have a cd slot.
  2. Oh yeah, a 4x4 would likely be a slightly different process with the added components. The light level sensor is easy to release. The roll bar links can stay in place if doing both sides at the same time I think. I didn't undo anything else apart from the bottom of the shock.
  3. That's some heavy use. Sounds like it was worth the effort and money. Certainly makes a big difference when you have it riding how you want.
  4. The mib2.5 unit is the main glovebox unit. The screen is only a screen.
  5. Just press the bit that says android auto below the OnePlus 8t. Mine does that sometimes if I have to replug it and the head unit hasn't finished shutting down it's car mode.
  6. Can you please confirm what you mean by ahead of period? I have always serviced (oil change) my cars annually. The US and aus do it every 5k or similar. Yet we in Europe get long life of 18k or 2 years. Why the extremes? PS. Sorry for hijacking the discussion.
  7. Why do you want compressors for the rear. With the car in the air you just put a jack under the arm and undo the lower shock bolt. Release the jack carefully and the whole lot pops out.
  8. Just confirming that the new battery was coded correctly?
  9. As above, if the issue was there before it points to other problems. If on the original battery I would change that first. Make sure to get it coded to the car or it won't work correctly and could potentially limit the life of the new battery. Then I'd be checking the air and fuel filter. At cold the engine will be running rich so the fuel filter would struggle if a bit blocked.
  10. I have been both happy and uninspired with the cross climates. The consistent feel is great and the fact that you can drive the same tyre safely all year round gives me the warm and fuzzys. This is why I have had them fitted to MrsG's car. I have had a few opportunities to push them over 2 years. Sometimes on fast roads and sometimes under unplanned heavy braking. The limits being height of summer and height of winter. They just break traction too easily. So, I am going back to a 2 set user and recently acquired a set of wheels to be used as summers and ordered some asymmetric 6's. I will continue to use the CC's in the winter until they are worn then replace them with genuine winter tyres. I think I'll get a chance to fit the wheels end of next week and then going away for a few days so should be able to provide some feedback after that.
  11. That's interesting and something a lot of us wouldn't consider. I stand by my statement on the engine side. Are there any 190s on the old box or are the older ones the 184 engine? Or maybe they didn't do the 184 in the superb?
  12. As above, the new map doesn't just increase the bhp to roughly the same as a 190. The driveability improves to probably better than the 190. The torque increase at all revs makes the car stronger in any gear. The power is also usually smoother across the range and less likely to tail off towards the top.
  13. Yeah there in theory shouldn't be a need to handle the fix yourself. I think I speak (type?) for us all when we want you to succeed. So please keep us updated and we'll all give any info if needed in support.
  14. I ask because you are clearly unhappy with how the car is right now but know it can be better. I'm confident it's a single car issue as you also seem to have found. Maybe a change of car is what you need unfortunately. Unless, like I kind of loaded the question, you want to keep the car and end up getting the box tuned.
  15. How wedded are you to owning this car?
  16. The glovebox unit is the main headunit and te scree in the center is just that. Bit like a PC with a monitor on the desk. To change it you need: - A new glovebox unit to go from MIB1 to MIB2 standard. - A new screen - A new usb port - get the component protection removed by a dealer on the new unit. - Get the new unit coded to match the car you have. All in expect to pay £500 - £1000 for the varying level of standard fit. If you want all the whistes you should expect closer to £1300. Could be more with current prices of verything going up. Calling @pab567 to the thread!! This guy is the MIB guru and will sort you out if you choose t go this route. There are aftermarket options too but they are either woeful for require some knowhow.
  17. Got my head in the mqb sand. Not sure exactly but yeah I suspect the r32 bar would be the one. Or call up one of the good suppliers of tuning parts and they should help.
  18. It's actually not a necessity but very much advised. Depends if you need to take the hub carrier off or manage to swap the shock out the pikey way.
  19. Depends on how extreme you want to go. For a little extra support, and all other suspension components being good, a rear bar from a golf r or an aftermarket option would be a good starting point. It's also a straightforward DIY job if you are confident taking a wheel off. The front is a much larger job and something I wouldn't attempt myself. I have the skills and tools, but lack of experience would make it a weekend job. Too old and "responsible" for that 😉 If going for uprated shocks at the same time then definitely just a rear is enough. I have a white line adjustable bar. Has 2 stiffness settings. Soft is comparable to a golf r apparently and how I have it set now. Needs to be stiffer though so planning on changing it to the stuff setting as I prefer a sharper turn in.
  20. I took toots advice last year with the whole "clean the area" bit of pollen filter change (while changing the filter). Was surprised at the grot. Next time I'll consider an airbomb too if I can find one for a sensible price.
  21. On my Passat I have to have a departure time set for it to charge in the off peak time. A little backwards I know but could be the same on the Skoda.
  22. Yes a rear roll bar will sharpen up the handling. Coupled with uprated shocks (bilstein b6 for example) will offer the best improvement without lowering.
  23. I imagine Mr@toot might comment on this but I'm pretty sure this is not a requirement.
  24. This system doesn't have wireless android auto so this is not the issue. I believe it may be down to the operating system on the phone. Likely needs Android Auto sideloading as it's not linked up to google servers.
