At last, an Electric car I can be genuinely excited about!
There's a whole thread on here (in the classics section I think) from a chap who EV'd a Favorit.

Is anyone familiar with this hub-based gearchange mechanism?
@Breezy_Pete I only saw this post by chance. I wish I'd seen it earlier (I had to join this forum to reply, couldn't work out why I couldn't reply at first). I encountered the same problem a couple of years ago after moving to Germany and getting a bike that had been in storage since 1998. Given the age of the inner tube and tyres (over 22 years) I decided to replace both front and back. All I can say is it was a complete PIT (fing) A. Some swearing involved and some needle nose mole grips to hold a cable and lining up of dots IIRC. I wish I'd made notes now I just notice your gears are external.

Headlamp restore fix guide foggy patchy Mot advise or fail repair
In my experience there's several available kits that all promise great results but the best I've found is one by Sonax I think one of the best guides for acrylic headlight restos was done by @devonutopiaif it's still available.

Bonnet spare wheel modification
I've no idea what crap as you called it you carry in your boot or for what purpose but wouldn't an easier solution be condensing the crap into boxes such as stacking euroboxes aka euro containers or KLT containers.

Bonnet spare wheel modification
You could find yourself failing the MoT on things like body, structure and attachments. There's no law in the UK (unless that's changed) that says you must carry a spare so if it's not on the bonnet when you go then it can't fail on that. Visibility might be an issue on the other hand. I'd just gat a roof rack and some ratchet straps and save myself the grief. As George I think said, there's the insurance aspect as well should you find yourself in an accident with a wheel where it wasn't designed to when the car left the factory.

Drop-in 6-speed manual gearbox replacement for a 5-speed 1.2 [Fabia MkII]?
There used to be a six speed conversion kit for the Mkl 1.9TDi PD100 gearbox - basically you could add an extra cog for a sixth gear. IIRC some 1.4TDi owners swapped the fifth gear cog for a longer ratio cog using a Darkside conversion kit. No idea if something like that is available for the 1.2.

Can you ever fall in love with an EV the same way that people 'traditionally' have loved their petrol and diesel cars?
Some people fall in love and marry objects so I suppose anything's possible. Technically she was cheating on a tree having a boyfriend. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/mum-two-who-married-tree-22672425

Recent pics of your fabia for no reason, just stick em up!
Bit weird 🤣😂🤣

Recent pics of your fabia for no reason, just stick em up!
Yeah, Ryan pretty standard. Both my MkI Fabias had delamination. Seen it on other cars as well.

Your rear screen seems to be delaminating, Ryan.

Spare Tyre well has screw in body work that punctured the tyre
I'd also have suggested that it was attached to something underneath and asked for pics for clarification but exhaust related would also have been high on the list for me along with brake or fuel line - perhaps where a bodge had been done to fix a broken clip or something. I wouldn't jump straight in with accusations of malintent without knowing more.

Ethernet Home Wiring
Might be worth running Cat7 if you can. The pairs are shielded so less loss and 'crosstalk' than Cat6. Plus if faster fibre comes Cat7 can handle 10 gigabit/second over 100m as opposed to Cat6's 1 gigabit/second.

Unlocking a car without a key - is this real?
When I worked on sites in the 90s you could start any plant with a Lucas ignition barrel/ key with a bent and flattened nail.

Reduce speed limits to support Ukraine?
I agree. This has been an ongoing thing for some time and I feel it's about time something was said about it. If anything @lol-lolhas provided some sound and completely legal fiscal advice. Maybe take your grievances up with someone higher up. His openess on here exposing the ludicrous and, in some cases, unjust system should be applauded IMO rather than mocked.

Problems ordering from Superskoda (items weigh too much apparently)
I don't think that would work. I'm not 100% sure but I think the NIP exists so that goods going from NI to the UK aren't smuggled in without customs duties/ tariffs being paid. NI is, in effect, still in the Single Market whereas the UK left all that jolly nice stuff. You might find help here > https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/eu-exit-and-northern-ireland-protocol
