  1. There is/ was a specific section on here for owners of PH vehicles and Taxis known as 'The Taxi Rank'. There still is but it's not very lively https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/326-the-taxi-rank/
  2. I don't know what "These exemptions do not apply to private hire vehicles" means specifically Perhaps the private hire people would take their cars to a main dealer to preserve the FSH of their car and perhaps they could also take it to a VAT registered indy and the mechs/ techs at those places can road test the private hire vehicles?
  3. https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/media/1111/New-driver-application-Guidelines/pdf/V8-current-guidelines-updated-april-2018.pdf?m=637158224527670000 Also scroll down to page 12 - inspection/ servicing etc. Seems it's down to council MoT testers.
  4. Phone the local councils MoT test centre if it's not been closed due to (insert reason here) and ask them. Taxis and private hire vehicles are licensed by the local council so surely they would know. Or ask a taxi/ private hire vehicle owner/ operator.
  5. @Jim H don't know if it helps but yesterday I registered my new Canon camera. Once that was done I could download their software and I noticed it comes with the functions you're after. Maybe register your cam with the manufacturer and see what software they offer you?
  6. Just cropped this one. Mars?
  7. My God, it's full of stars... Having a quick play around with the ISO, f/ and shutter speed. Soooo convenient to be able to adjust them all from the comfort of the sofa using the app
  8. So, this arrived today. It could be a while before I take any pics mind. The manual's like War and Peace. Bluetooth and WiFi successfully paired after not RTFM and blundering away on my own. My pic of the day 😂 span widget
  9. Thanks, Mac Yeah I was just having a play to see what I could capture. Pleased with it as a first ever attempt! I'm seriously considering a a proper DSLR now so as my budget doesn't run into the 000s I'm currently looking at a Canon EOS 250D. I tried a couple more last night with just an 8 second shutter speed. It's not a shooting star - just a plane I never initially spotted I think I need to experiment a bit more on the shutter speed to find a compromise between how much light I capture and how much the earth's rotation effects it with getting 'trails'.
  10. Thanks. I've known where that is, how to find Polaris (between that and Cassiopeia) and other constellations are for a long time. Since I was a sea cadet I think. I'd just never bothered to look at them this way before. I think I need a better camera though maybe if I were to take it up as a hobby. Even 20mp looks like it has too much noise but maybe that's the camera. It's a bridge cam as well with few manual settings for ISO and shutter speed.
  11. OK don't mock. This is my very first ever attempt at astrophotography. Sony DSC H300 bridge camera I've had for quite some time. ISO 800 shutter speed was 30". There's more stars than I can see. Way more.
  12. Managed to open the file in MS Paint. Now converted to .PNG
  13. He's asked in the MkI Fabia section, Ken. Unless it's a Xenon unit, they're all the same AFAIK.
  14. "Skoda has announced it’s in the midst of developing a range of new all-electric cars, expanding its range beyond the Enyaq. The Czech brand says that six new EVs (which includes an Enyaq and Enyaq coupe facelift) will launch by 2026." https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/electric/skoda/ "Škoda Auto is further stepping up the pace of its electric mobility campaign and transformation. Launching four all-new e-vehicles and two updated Enyaq family models, the Czech carmaker plans to expand its BEV range to six models by 2026" https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-kits/lets-explore-press-kit/
  15. vRS trim piece? I like your ambition 😉
  16. I've no reason to learn French though I do admire the way they stand up for themselves. So it's the same traffic law that applies in lots of countries including Germany where I am. Here it's known as 'rechts vor links' or 'right before left'.
  17. You failed to mention that it's worth abiding by the local regulations. If, in the unlikely event he's stopped for whatever reason, the police decided to carry out further checks, he could be prosecuted by a disgruntled cop for not carrying the required kit. Now the UK has left the EU, are speed cam database info still shared in order to collect fines? I genuinely don't know. Also, what's 'Prioité à droite' for those of us who don't speak Franglais?
  18. That'd require extra connection points and tooling to accommodate it. I can't see manufacturers going to that expense when they can make one base that accommodates one battery. At a guess locally, the EU and other blocs will agree upon a common battery similarly that now USB C will become the norm rather than various USB/ Apple chargers/ connectivity. If a half sized battery, then maybe a half sized battery in a full sized dummy case IYKWIM but even that requires two things where one would do.
  19. Yeah I could see a way with that. ID code on every battery so it's known to have been charged to X amount and paired to X truck could be done easily even with current tech. Now to get a standardised battery with global approval. USB C has shown it's possible to some extent.
  20. Are you talking about the bus or the truck? It's not clear which you're referring to. For the bus I'd imagine a cable to charge would be less cumbersome than a pit crew changing out batteries at a bus stop.
  21. You and me both 😳 Things were made worse when it said Insert into post 🤣
  22. Sorry, I've no time to watch crap like that with its 1970s style cinematic graininess. (Why did they even feel they needed to edit that **** in anyway 🤷) I'll wait for a reliable source such as Bloomberg or Reuters rather than some channel that want you to subscribe to it.
  23. I think we've all been there at one point or another. 🤣
