  1. Funny enough was talking to a close friend of mine about the same thing recently , although he wanted to do it to his Mondeo ST220.But he mentioned to me that a you tube series called Amplified , where he goes on about what you are talking about , but using an ipad. As he and i are both android people ( atm) , we surmised the same set up would work with some mondifications. The hardest part is getting it look and fit stable enough in the dash. They are some videos about how he/they custom made the fittings and such. Here is one of the links It's a US video as the company is based there , think it would make a neat project. They are some interesting videos .....hope this helps.
  2. Got one of these on my MK2 Vrs ( pre-fl) , well happy with it. Not fiddily like the cupra one. Sometimes you can find it a bit cheaper on Ebay and on some other sites. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-II/Octavia-II-RS-04-08-front-bumper-DTM-spoiler
  3. Sorry for a late reply to this , read it few days ago and got side tracked. Got my non-adjustable whiteline rarb from psi tuning £135 including p&p , took a few days to arrive ! They also do paypal , if needed. http://www.psituning.com/product.php/21242/whiteline_rear_sway_bar___22mm_heavy_duty___octavia_mk2_1z_3_04_on
  4. Black wheels ...oh yeah . Dark grey Neptunes ( although look great ) has been done to death. Also means that if you go for the rest of the default go faster sytling bits ....front spliiter and rear lower diffuser ......no need for colour change. Yeah I got hooked into it way too easy .....oh by the way you already on the slippery slope.
  5. Well my two pence , i have had eibach pros + koni str.t dampers for about four months now. As a budget set up ...it's better than eibachs pro and standard dampers. Very compliant and less pattering. Some might find this set up too soft , but it's excellent for me. Also no difference when loaded compared to standard dampers when loaded. I'm so happy with this set ...cannot complain. As I don't do track days or anything like that ..... could not be happier.
  6. Excuses the poor photos from mobile phone ....will get some better ones soonish!
  7. Updates for 2013 , front splitter and rear diffuser. As regards wheels , painted my RS 5 spokes gloss black and put alloygators on , was a 50/50 choice. Got the car noticed but if you ever did touch the curbs while parking ...the gators popped out. My bad parking caused me to visit the fitter so often it became a chore. Think the wheels were not flat enough for perfect fit , but they did their job. So after a few months of messing about did an impulse buy for some CH copies and decided to take my time parking.....think these look so much better. Wished i had done this first time round.
  8. Over the moon with the shocks .....considering the 3rd world roads here in London .... Hopefully someone else has fitted this kit and gives some more direct feedback.
  9. Well i'm currently on koni str.t dampers + eibach pro's. So far i have found it a great kit , really compliant , tight handeling and more comfortable than oem dampers and eibach pro springs. Because i had bought the eibach pro springs well before changing the shocks , i could not take advantage of the Koni str.t kits , which includes the str.t dampers and h&r springs for under £400. Having used h&r springs on previous cars , have always found them a quality product. So the str.t kit should be as good if not a bit better than my current combo .....have a look. http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=13611202612∂=Skoda-Octavia-Mk2-vRS-Saloon-Estate-Koni-STR-T-Suspension-Kit-with-H-R-Springs- good hunting ! ps i'm on 18's and its still a very good ride.
  10. Also good thing about my reps , they were lighter than my 18" Neptunes.
  11. I have replica RS 5 spokes , no problems so far , been on nearly two years now. But never used that brand , got mine through my local wheel and tyre guy ( Wheelpower, Brockey ) and trusted his judgement when i bought mine. Have got wheels from them for years and no issues with quality so far. If you want a set of these scirocco type wheels ever though of looking for an original used set ?
  12. Yeah , you can go crazy with widths and offsets ( as previously mentioned )......but there is so much information available you should be able to avoid all that stress with a little thought and advice.
  13. It also depends on the design a little. I have 8x18" with a -38et offset ( RS 5 spoke copies to be exact ) no problems with running or scrubbing. On 225x40's ....no problems at all. A good wheel and tyre supplier will be able sort it out properly. Some people here are on 8.5 x 19's with little or no problems at all. The ride is a little harsher but most people do not really notice and just enjoy slightly sharper handling .
  14. Love the rims .......always wondered how those classic merc's rims would look on an Octavia. Spec savers required for some any car nut ( or wheel whore ) knows no cavalier had dished rims like those.....lol .........must admit the angle of the photo needs adjusting ..a little!
  15. Sometimes that's just how things are ......good luck with what ever motor you get next , nothing is worse than having a car that you don't like.
  16. I have my whiteline non ajustable rarb for a couple of weeks now and not noticed any of the problems you have encountered. I would get someone with a VCDS to see if the car has thrown up any errors or sensor failures. Let us know what you find out.
  17. Did practically the same Nobafett. My first mod was the eibach pro spring kit , as it only lowered the VRS by 15mm. Looked a bit high off the ground and too much space between the tyre and the arches for a sporting model on standard suspension. It improves the handling a bit , but looks so much better. Then fitted the Walk , which really improved the front end. Less understeer and more tractable. Then changed from stanard dampers to koni str.t ( non adjustable ) what a transformation , more forgiving and compliant but comfortable and the whole car rode better on the 3rd world roads we have now. The last thing was the whiteline non-adjustable rarb. Now it handles even better the whole car feels and drives like a dream. It now feels like a sporting model and puts a big smile on my face when pushing on .......just go for it you will have no regrets. For me the car now feels so much closer to the best handling old school vw i have driven which was a my corrado ....another vw that put a smile on my face.
  18. Well i'm currently running eibach pros with koni str.t shocks , works well living in London with our oh so smooth roads ( yeah right ). But it's so much better than standard set up and even better than standard shocks with eibach springs. Nice compliant ride , handles like a dream and its running 18" to boot. Not harsh at all. I'm a very happy bunny
  19. Have you tried madmotors.co.uk , think they have this and something similar too .
  20. Yes it does , turbo spools up quicker , but you will have to get the car remapped to make the most of it. Usually a performance air filter or a recommended induction kit will also help. Yes you can go too big , but most downpipes and cats for the golf mkv gti will be o.k. This has been done to death on this and golf mkv gti forums. This is usually refered to as stage 2 and the next level is stage 2+ which usually involves the addition of an uprated fuel pump. I'm sure jabba sport will do a minimal charge for stage 2 remap. Give them a call!
  21. Too a degree , i have had tyres with so called edge protectors built in. They are ok at best and offer a little edge protection. But if you park too close you get horrible scapping noise and ruined rims. These actually stick out a bit and offer full protection as they are hard plastic and not rubber. You can get more subtle colours. Also my fitter told me that the fit really depends on the wheel , the flusher the surface the better the fit. It's a compromise , i was going to go with the black colour , but black alloys with black rubber and black alloygaytors ...too much black and nothing to break it up a bit. With hindsight should have tried contacting the company to see if they would have produced a mint green version just for me. Personally i don't think they will suit all alloys ....If i had rims with a machined or polished edge ( lip ) , i would not bother and just refurb the edges when they get scrapped.
  22. Thanks ...... was going to get the calipers painted the same colour ......but i like the original vrs green better. It's settled a bit since then. With the amount of sunken pot holes and speed humps in London ....won't dare go any lower. Eibach pros with koni Str.t ....is a nice compromise.
  23. I went for green on black 5 spokes. Was hoping the color would be nearer my calipers. They are not. Have not had any problems with defaltion so far and they have saved me scraping the wheels on many occasions. Living in London you do not have the luxury of parking a safe distance away from usually high curbs. If you do park away from the curb you tend to have a damaged ( read mangled ) wing mirror ( even if closed or folded ). Got my wheel guys to fit them ....again jury still out , but they are starting to grow on me weirdly as i tend to go a bit more subtle.
  24. A couple of days in and now things have settled a bit , wow what a difference they make. It's a tad firmer than the standard dampers , but strangley more comfortable and compliant. I don't get the low speed constant patter anymore , now when up to speed can carry more speed through the corners. Also the faster you go the better it feels. For me they feel great , a lot more sporty ( if that means anything ). This combo of Eibach springs and Koni STR.T dampers is really good especially at the price. Although i had to wait a couple of months for the dampers from koni, they are well worth the wait. Can't say how they compare to the B12's of this world , but for me ..... . Now i'm wondering how much more improvement can a rear anit-roll bar makes. If it improves things as much as people say ....can't wait.
