  1. My 2019 2.0Tsi 4x4 has developed a low speed rattle from the rear, it’s been doing this for the last 5k miles. It can be heard at walking pace and when reversing only particularly when slightly undulating i.e going up a dropped kerb, it sounds a bit like fuel slapping in the tank (maybe quicker) but it isn’t and it doesn’t make any difference in the tank contents. It’s not major but you can hear it and it’s annoying. I’ve taken everything out the back so it’s not that. Being a bit keen I’ve got under the car and had a poke around, everything looks OK except the rubber coupling from the prop shaft to the haldex has a few mil of play in it backwards and forwards and guess what, it sounds like the rattle I can hear when moved by the outer ring. I’m wondering if this play is normal? Propshafts used to have splined shafts and proper CV joints. Anyhow first service at 18k miles booked for a couple of weeks time so we’ll see. I also have the flies in the inner rear LED lights, so let’s see what they do about that. (Expecting response “they have to be vented sir” but so do the other lights and they haven’t flies in them.....) and haven’t they heard of gauze? These are the same lights with the razor sharp bottom edge that managed to do a good job of slicing into my finger when washing the car. Design fail!!
  2. @nige8021 I feel for you. Some years ago my neighbour had a PLT supplied for video and my radio became unusable even with ‘notches’ it Intruded onto the bands. I tracked it with an FT817 on batteries, my neighbours are very good and couldn’t understand why they’d been given equipment that would do that. OFCOM were very good too and got the supplier to replace the equipment. My noise level is now back to bad from unusable! Plasma TVs were notorious for noise but thankfully not too many around now. I can’t tell you if the mag loop will help but they are small and directional and have a very high Q so may help exclude nearby sources of noise. People I hear using them rave about them. All noted on the rig, always exciting to get new equipment and also on the VHF, I normally only compete for my Club in the VHF club contest. We had a demo of FT8 at the club before Christmas, very interesting and as you say is good for weak signals. Worth a try. Good luck, enjoy the rig and I hope you can identify the noise. Jason
  3. Just had this in my 2.0 TSI, 17000 miles and coolant was at bottom of min level. I think silver1011 has it right, possibly air in the system. Stopped off at my local supplying dealer and they confirmed it was too low and topped it off free of charge with G13 (not to dilute it down with water), the mechanic told me they normally fill it to the middle moulding line. Its surprising how much the level rises when the engine’s hot and the pressure is carefully released.
  4. @VWD all good stuff and over my head, been working with analog electronics and radio since I was a kid, I was lucky that I managed to get in on the last full City & Guilds RAE in 2004 with 2 weeks notice before they changed to the present system. I’ve taught many hams since then. Lots of digital modes in ham radio now but I haven’t jumped in yet as there’s various competing systems. I understand that most of the broadcast material was sent under PCM and converted at the transmission station back to analog but my ex GPO / broadcast friends would know more about that, though I may be wrong. One of the problems of ham radio today is increasing man made noise levels from the wide variety of electrical equipment around so the digital modes can help with this, but I still like the nostalgic idea of SSB and a direct connection from my aerial to the other end wherever that may be.
  5. @nige8021 well done, no mean feat. I’ve not put a permanent set up in the car but use mono band aerials on a mag mount and an FT817 when I get a chance. Enjoy Jason M0JDM
  6. The EA888 gen 3b 190 Tsi in the Kodiaq and Octavia have GPFs (also called OPF) and dual port injection, though it seemed to be removed from the Superb 272 when they fitted GPFs.
  7. They updated the app on iOS to 3.2.3 from 18.01.20 and it still doesn’t work (reverts to km)? How do they keep getting it wrong?? I’m don’t know whether to bother renewing in the spring as I use google maps and Waze. Really just like Gracenote for the artwork and occasional track listings on the occasional CDs. Nice to have the alarm notifications too but fortunately haven’t had to use.
  8. I had exactly the same, red globe for a few weeks, system operated as normal. Also the Skoda connect app continually reverted to metric units even after being set to U.K. imperial units. I used the ‘i’ button next to the spanner and SOS, explained the issue with the red globe and the app. The app issue was already known and was being sorted, however I got a call back from Skoda 2 days later and they asked me some identifying info and low and behold the globe issue is corrected. The white 4G LTE globe is back. I presume that it must have been corrected remotely. So I can’t explain why it was faulty but can explain how to get it fixed.
  9. Do the rear seats on the 5 seater slide backwards and forward as they do on the 7 seater? It’s necessary to move the middle seats forward on the 7 seater if the people occupying the rear seats (6 and 7) inconveniently wish to fit their legs in. It can be a bit friendly inside when fully occupied. I can see why the 5 seater has more leg but less boot room if the rear bench was normally positioned a bit further back. Its amazing that they can fit the rear seats and a spare wheel in as well as room for the tonneau cover, a first aid kit and still have room to spare under the floor! (I keep 2 spare full sized easy to reach umbrellas, some paperwork and a bottle of 0W-20 oil under there too). No small wonder the 5 seat variant seats could be further back. You can just see the spare wheel under the rear seats, though I’ve not yet had the misfortune to try and remove it (fingers crossed).
  10. Who knows, let’s hope they have now? Always seemed to be a bit remiss of Skoda not to supply a 7 seater boot mat, they also were only supplying fabric floor mats for seats 6 and 7. I took the Skoda rubberised boot mat out of the Octavia estate and I’m using that, fits almost millimetre perfect, and I can roll it up if I need to use the rear 2 seats (not perfect but better than nothing) I've never been too bothered by carpets in cars and prefer the utilitarian approach, jet-washing the mats when cleaning the car is so easy.
  11. We have a 2014 1.2 Tsi and I’ve heard it do this once at start up last summer. Not done it since. Could of been the oil filter valve as suggested.
  12. Not experienced on the Kodiaq but the DSG gear selector on the Octy had by the sound of it the same issue, flaking “chrome” and it was common- poor quality or bad design?
  13. It’s not supposed to be like that, take it back. It’d drive me nuts and I wouldn’t accept it. It may affect the rain sensor, if not now later.
  14. It does look a good solution, invisible when not in use, but I couldn’t justify the cost as I no longer have any use for one and I’m not sure you’d get your money back on it. But if you need one - perfect. PS I did have an OEM rear camera retro fitted and it’s well worth it, I guess more so if you have a tow bar as you can line up the hitch perfectly. Seems to still be available in the U.K. brochure
  15. Although Diamond cut anthracite or black wheel look great they soon start looking bad due to poor lacquer application, especially on sharp edges. My other pet hate is where the alloy is parallel or slightly proud of the tyres making kerbing of the alloys inevitable. Low profile tyres with almost no sidewall don’t help and also have a poorer ride quality. Definitely style over substance. Also its some form of torture to clean some alloys especially if you want to reach the inner wheel rim which is of course visible. So my ideal alloys therefore would be hard to kerb, easy to clean, durable and good looking!
  16. I feel for you @Gabbo eventually traded my car in with this feature for a Kodiaq. I would still like to know what it was though, very frustrating and irritating felt unsupported by the dealer once the 320F TPI was done that didn’t cure it.
  17. No need to close the thread, it’ll just sit there waiting for the next time fuse 21 blows!
  18. @Skodaman58 perhaps it’s that same environmental sensor I had go, though I don’t know how to test it (perhaps a VCDS scan?) In my case it burnt out and kept taking the fuse, but there may be a chance it has failed then gone open circuit. Not conclusive, just a theory. Thanks for updating everyone, hopefully will help others in the future.
  19. Not had this on my Kodiaq, but exactly the same on my Mitsubishi PHEV, the wheel was changed under warranty - no quibble. So it’s not just a Skoda thing. I thought it may have been caused by something that was on my hands or cleaning products, but it seems that sometimes the leather just isn’t up to it. Leather gearshifts also seem to suffer in the Octavia. Hope you get it changed, very premature wear.
  20. Andy, Not noticed anything on my one, is it on all surfaces? Original tyres? If you need me to pop round to compare please let me know and I’ll be glad to oblige. Hate it when they say “they all do that sir” when in fact they don’t, but they know all too well the average punter has no way of knowing- perhaps I’m just cynical? Best regards Jason
  21. I don’t remember seeing any of this in the manual when I got my 190 Tsi at the beginning of the year. It seems to suggest the “Italian tune up” method to clean your GPF I have noticed a fan running on behaviour after a spirited drive.
  22. Same problem with the electric boot on my Kodiaq with the Kessy key, happened at work, came outside to a wide open boot! I’m pretty sure it must of been me pressing the same poorly designed raised boot key fob button, so you are not alone.
  23. My wife’s 2014 Yeti has Matterhorn alloys fitted and they’re getting a bit shabby. There are quite a number if areas where water has got under the laquer and it’s corroding. Skoda said it’s stone chips, it’s quite obviously not, it appears to be the laquer not adhering very well on the sharp diamond cut edge. The car rarely sees over 40 mph and has only done 40k miles and doesn’t have a stone chip anywhere else. Anyhow SWMBO managed to slightly kerb one for the first time last week (good going really). I’ve considered trying to sort it myself, or via a mobile service but feel that a proper refurb / diamond cut of all the wheels may be in order. My concern is that the black is if I remember correctly is black magic pearlescent paint and is like to keep it near original. I see there’s a couple of places that do this in the West Midlands where you get temporary wheels when they refurb yours. Just wondering if anyone has had good / bad experiences with this, any recommendations and if it’s just my wife’s Matterhorn alloys that are poor? I would add that diamond cut wheels look great when new but appear to be PITA when a bit older. PS it needs new Skoda centre caps as the white worms eating them too.
  24. Also found this I’m not saying this is causing your issue but I believe it’s on the same supply as the other items.
