  1. Me and Vikki may be there - house move permitting. PS Don't get me started on that one - we were supposed to be in on 16th June - latest is 2 - 3 weeks time. I think I need alcohol to get over this
  2. Was not a million miles away yesterday - putting furniture into store for the new house. PM on the way with a suggestion of a parking space which is a mere 5 minute walk away aka the drive of our (my and Vikki_VRS') new house. But I would persue this. Said shopping centre is very new and I have my doubts about the quality of build quality of the place.
  3. Look, If all are unhurt that is the main thing. Tin cans aka cars can be replaced.
  4. Can do this Sunday but not next. Apart from that 1st week in June is the only one I can't
  5. I probably was. Previously I was in a £30k + role. Maybe I was aplying for the wrong roles. But all I will say is I am mightily glad I am not contracting. It will suit some - but didn't me).
  6. Please think carefully No Holiday Pay No Sick Pay Difficulties getting a mortgage, loans etc (if that wasn't hard enough at the moment) Being Fleeced by Agencies I have posted here before - I have the T-Shirt Moved to the North West in Feb 2007 - though a bit of contracting then get a perm job (managed to do the latter after 9 months) But Basically I ended up with 2 contracts where I found myself on some weeks well below the minimum wage. I would have been better off stacking shelves in Tesco. Indeed it was so bad I ended up doing 2 jobs (one of which was doing test drives in a well known car supermarket). I alos ended up spending most of my life savings, just paying for food and bills. I even had to sell my Fabia VRS. Some people - even who I work with - are on £15 + an hour. The job is vastly easier than that I did as a contractor so I think I was stiched up a little. But OK say you want to do some contracting and have some cash in the bank. Remember ! Get to know some good agencies. There are a few out there but use word of mouth 2 Be ready to take jobs at short notice ie Friday advised Monday start 3. If short term use an umbrella co such as giant. Long term consider becoming self employed. 4. There are some sharks on Jobserve. Drop me a PM if you want to talk
  7. No it is my 3rd year During my 1st I had 2 cars with them Last year - one Just feel they were taking the Michael
  8. Well SWMBO tried to wrestle the PC away - but I managed to vote for Kirsty - even though blood and gore were nearly visible lol.. But having met SB at the Homebuilding and renovation show - even if she is pretty to some - no way. And Kirsty rose in my estimation when she told Karren Gould where to go in the Sports relief apprentice. Notice no Kim wilde though... Or Melissa Joan Hart.
  9. Well - an update I called the said insurance company and no the price was right but yes they would reduce it if I got a cheaper quote. Called Direct line - less than £335 Don't play games with insurance companies. OK they may undercut this year but this does not stop them from hiking it next year and the year after that. So guess what I will be doing in the next two weeks...
  10. I was in PE16 - that said I live in an area at the same risk - except for house insurance due to cheshire being a brine area. So NO it is not that Would I be so stupid... No. At 23 I had a Hyundai Pony 1.5 GLS 4dr.
  11. *NEW* Dr Who's new monster ADIPOSE handknitted soft toy on eBay, also, Doctor Who, Action Figures, Toys Games (end time 13-Apr-08 18:06:49 BST) Didn't take long did it.
  12. Can I be in the group buy.... 2 Please
  13. Well I have had several MK1's in Classic, Comfort, Ambiente and VRS forms. I now have a Mk 2 fabia 1 and best compare is the classic My feelings 1. Seat trim - the new 1 is slightly better than the classic BUT shows muck more. colours are more aimed at the youth market (more in the 2). 2. Comfort - IMHO the Mk2 Beats the Mk1 - reasons Easier access and slightly bigger seats. 3. Also on trim - when will skoda realise the fabia 2 trim is mind awful. The Ambiente Mk 1 had better trim by miles. The fabia 3 is better than the elegance but... such a shame really. 4. Build - The Fabia Mk 2 is vastly better built - well mine feels very solid. I had an elegance mk 1 fro a short while (one of the last) and it was shocking. 5. Handling - The Mk 2 is better - sits on the road so well. the Mk 1 was good but the Mk 2 just beats it. 6. Dash. why no temperature gauge - also why no glovebox in the fabia 1 (penny scrimping) 7. Looks - yes they are awful IMHO but somehow I'm getting used to it now. give it a year.
  14. Didn't like the special - but last night - well loved it. I want one of those creatures though - quite happy to take the pills and lock one away.
  15. I always try to see both sides of the argument - but this is just plain barmy.... Cases like this do not help those of us who try to see both sides. I think retrial and a ban is needed here. No excuse to do double the sped limit in a 30...
  16. grrrrrrrrrrr. Deathtraps of any make - yes. But leave it out for poor old MG-Rover - Please Ps I am a fan of the marque as well as Skoda so yes - just a bit biased - sorry.
  17. This sounds sooooo familiar. I have had loads of probs in the past ie.. 1. Taking two extra payments after finance has been paid 2. Telephone calls not returned 3. Miscalculation of interest First contact Trading standards on Monday. They will point you in the right direction. Then put in writing what you propose to do. Post to the dealer and the fionance company by recorded delivery - next day service. Follow this up with a telephone call to both on the day both receive the letter. In you letter state you expect to be recompenced with your expenses (post, telephone, travel etc...) HTH
  18. All I will say is ditto - via Briskoda. My car isn't modified either (did not want to name said company but someone has already). Also live nearby (winsford) so 2 questions here:- 1. Does the Briskoda discount still apply? Before Knot's were £100's cheaper - now only about £5. 2. Why is the area I live in so expensive. House insurance is still pretty low (touch wood).
  19. Thankfully it wasn't the fabia but would call it a 'Dead' heat...Thankfully no one hurt but since then I have avoided 2 other Badgers and a fox - what is it with the country roads of cheshire...
  20. Just had my renewal through (won't mention the firm) It has gone up from £247 to.... WAIT for IT £399 Why OK I have 9+ years NCB Clean Licence Car is a Fabia 1 60bhp (Group 1) Last year it was a 1.8 Vectra. Last November I had an altrication with a badger (less said the better) - but was assured the premium would not rise beyond 10% (Protected NCB). But a 61.5% rise... Has anyone else experienced this. It's very nice for companies claiming to have reduced premiums (Churchill) but is this a case of those who live in low risk areas are having to pay for reductions in high risk areas? Is anyone else finding the same.
  21. If something is fishy - don't buy. There will be other cars available.
  22. Every job will have it's plus and minus points. However There are some free qualifications - I believe there is one for english and maths, Not sure if these are relevant but these are being plugged a lot of commercial radio and TV at the moment. After that talk to your local college (Wirral Met should be able to help). If you look there are loads of free courses. What you also have to ask yourself is what do you want to do? Once you have decided this ask yourself how can you achieve this? Then do it...
  23. I answered this with Yes. Not because anything is glaringly wrong, but as with everything in life nothing is perfect. And if I'm honest, I can't think of anything specific... so maybe I voted wrongly?
  24. Agencies - don't you love em... NOT RBS is a good place to work. Have a friends wife who just left there (had a baby). But with the banking turn around it may be a case the job wasn't there at the end of the day. Same could be said about the other 'Financial' job - now is really not the time to be in finance of any sort. But what is important is what do YOU want to do. You seem to have decided and gone with what you want - hats off to you. As for awkward commutes - drive in early and sleep in the car for a short time. This has worked for me on awkward shifts. Finally Contract V Perm. after struggling for 9 months on cash which was sometimes less than minimum wage when expenses were taken out my thoughts are Contract is good to keep you in work but nothing beats the security of a permanent job with holiday and sick pay.
  25. Was asked for my ID in Asda 3 weeks ago when buying a bottle of red wine - even though I'm 40.... SWMBO is worried that because Asda in Winsford have a 21 year old age curfue after 8PM (may be 10) on Friday & Saturday - she may not be allowed in (she is over 30 btw - sorry Vikki). I say if they do that I'll shop in Sainsburys...
