  1. may have just been a cheap one, there are many irregularities with these ebay ones, had that on a mk4 golf wishbone, was 10mm longer
  2. I suppose it depends on wear in engine and other variables
  3. big difference in running? yeah did it two days ago, and car is running perfectly now, just i had heard there were some optimum tolerance that gives best mpg/starting/power. but yes all my issues are resolved.
  4. Just set up my timing on my pd130, tolerances were so far out according to vagcom and i had idle wobble, since adjusted it and magically got it blob on 0. I have heard though that there is a sweet spot for tolerance that is best, something like +3.3? tolerances recommend + or - 3. Is there an ideal? does anyone have any first hand info on best. Mine is the 5 speed awx engine but believe the timing principles to be the same. Thanks
  5. Chill dude, read further back, it wasnt directed at you. Your responses were appropriately respectfull
  6. i know stating the obvious but do you have a micro sd card in the expansion slot, there will be some on that I would think. Sorry bit of a dumb dumb suggestion, but i dont know your techie level yet
  7. Ive often thought 'ill wait because the prices may come down' but then if you do that, like my brother does, you end up stuck in the dark ages as you never go for anything. If you are financially able now, and need one, get one. When things change the way you predict, you may not have the position to act
  8. Took 6 days saved £20 on fuel spent £500 on hotels
  9. anyway back to helping, i had a similar thing, it was a bent shock, to dignose, slacken the top mount, and rotate the shaft from the top as it will be fixed in position leaving the spring to rotate on the bearing. By rotating 90 degrees it should then look flush, and 180 degrees should make it look like positive camber. If it makes no difference look on to the hub, or even a wrong make of ball joint fitted. Also where the ball joints are concerned there is a certain amount of camber adjustment to be had as the wishbone will have slots where the 3 bolts go through, slacken these and push (hard) the bottom of the wheel/hub should go in quite a bit, if its still uneven, slacken the other side and pull the hub away from the car, this should level things up a bit
  10. Why do people have to constantly nitpick????? Its a poor display like!!!!! Stretch like that doesnt even approach dangerous!!!! not even the slightest. Stop hunting for reasons to complain, go outside and get some real problems in your life like the rest of us do, and get the subsequent perspective on life. The guy has asked for help - help him!!!!!!
  11. Aye loads of people put 'silly' wheels on, daft comment if you ask me! Every car I ha e ran with poke has had an unequal look, most just lined up with a 5mm spacer per axle as it were.
  12. could be the subframe slightly offline, or a wishbone a tad shorter that side, it is quite common
  13. see it here bud, you may need to register, but worth it, these guys are clever http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/393238.aspx
  14. nah this simplification is very common in the vw world, and has gotten rid of all of my vac leaks. yes the sphere is disconnected but even when connected it was losing pressure still, the sphere is for the ASV etc My golf is the same, with same simplification and there isnt a pressure drop. the nrv you speak of is present So is it possible for the tandem pump to leak? could it be the 'chunky' one right by pump you speak of?
  15. Thought id post in here because the fab vrs is the one with most pd130 engines in. I have an issue - its my new passat but could do with a hand. i had a vac leak, so replaced and simplified my system, all i have now is brand new silicone pipe from vac pump to non return valve to n75 to actuator, and the system is air tight, the master cylinder pipe too is very good. breaks are good but get better as i drive, and when i stop the engine i still have them as you would normally before they fade as pressure goes down. However it is very fleeting - after 5 minutes stopped with no brakes applied, the system loses all pressure, and it starts from scratch again. could the tandem pump leak vacuum? seems slow to pressurise and eager to lose it once it is. Thanks chaps dont wanna buy one unless its necessary. Fuel supply seems top notch
  16. No bora estate is our family wagon. Vac simplification is 3mm silicone hose, from vac pump to non return valve to n75 to turbo - and that's it! Removes leak risk and tidied bay up a lot, some cars need egr mapped out to remove eml
  17. 18. i think i did too, but, it being my daily work bus they were being a nightmare and in winter they would have taken a lot of time in maintenance. And i was offered cash to the amout of 3x what i paid lol the tt sports there pictured with goodyear eagle f1's cost me £100 on ebay
  19. some more recent pics that show camber better, but as with photos the car never looks as good on screen as in flesh7
