  1. Oh, and if you have any clubcard points you can double them up against a Hudl2 too.
  2. You can't beat an iPad in my opinion. They are the best at what they do. However, they're simply just not in your budget. Get a Hudl2. Battery life isn't as great as the iPad but then its a fraction of the price. Download Nova Launcher and it gets rid of all the Tesco rubbish on the desktop - makes it feel a bit snappier too. It's a really good little tablet. I bought one to use as a Sonos remote. It's permanently plugged in and wall-mounted in my bedroom. Would happily use it for surfing/movies at home - although it's not a lot bigger than my iPhone 6+ so I don't bother. Not sure I'd bother taking it on a longhaul flight due to the battery - but for what it sounds you want, I think it'd be perfect.
  3. Tech-wise there's a new 7" touchscreen. I haven't used the Nav in anger yet, but set it all up for her and I was impressed by it. Bluetooth faultless. DAB. Rear sensors fine, although a little quiet. Heated seats. Rear view camera! The only other minus point is that, compared with the Fabia, there's a bit of a lack of storage in the cabin - cubby holes, pockets etc. If I think of anything else I'll add it. Feel free to ask any questions. Oh, you get a space saver too. That was a minimum pre-req for my parents - didn't want any of that gunk nonsense. My Dad is so impressed with the little Kia he's on standby to test drive the new 2015 Sorento when it comes out in the next couple of weeks.
  4. My mum got a brand new one a week or so ago. Changed from a 4yo 1.2 Fabia. The newest facelift model. We're all so impressed with it. To go against what's said above, we all find the vision in it outstanding. There's loads of adjustability in the seat and so much glass! My mum is 4'11"... Fortunately I took after my Dad and am 6'0"... But suits us both. Plenty of room inside. Loads of gadgets. Load space is massive when the seats go flat - which itself is FAR easier and quicker to do than in the old Fabia estate. She's got the 1.6 auto. Level 3 I think. It's fine in city driving - bit gutless when you floor it, but fine for her. Worst thing is the fuel consumption... So far it's truly awful - on par with my Dad's 3.6 V6 Superb! - but that's down to the old fashioned torque converter box I think. But otherwise its such a good car and my parents are chuffed with it.
  5. Interested in your reply to Moley's post. Not sure how much longer our Dyson will last... And it's very heavy. Worth considering a Henry for outside/car/messy jobs. They're bulletproof. Wouldn't want to drag one round a house though.
  6. In the Octavia there's a small void under the right side of the dash. Above the fusebox. Get yourself a blade fuse tap, find a spare switched live, plug it in, ground the negative and Bob's your uncle. I did mine for a speed camera detector (that I haven't used in years, actually) but just dropped the cable from on top of the dash down the a-pillar trim. The important bit is getting a blade fuse tap. The difficult bit is finding which is the switched live (experiment). The tricky bit is running the wires. But it's not actually a complicated process.
  7. Did you read my link? Apparently there's a sensor by the IC?
  8. Have also just changed all four corners from Dunlop to Goodyear Efficient Grip. Very happy. Certainly quieter.
  9. I suffered with Illio-Tibial Band Friction Syndrome. From running though. I run like a penguin apparently. Anyway. Search on Amazon for IT Band. You can get straps that sit just above the knee. There's a pressure pad that stabilises the IT Band and stops it from becoming inflamed. Helped me immensely. I was able to resume running much quicker and now wouldn't run without it. ITBFS sucks. The suggestions above will hopefully help it from recurring. My suggestion, while not car related, may assist with your recovery. Good luck.
  10. Choice of tyre makes a big difference too. Now helped by all tyre sellers listing grades for fuel economy, road noise, grip etc. My new Good Years are notably quieter than my old Dunlops. Look your current tyres up - see how they score.
  11. In my Octavia I hardwired a new 12v in behind the dash (by fuse box) connected to a switched live. No wires on show whatsoever and no issues with power drain.
  12. Octavia : Otto My favourite car so far was Bart. Bart the Smart.
  13. Well I've never heard of a gricer. I'll use that next time I'm papped! Underground driver here. '72 stock.
  14. This should help you in the right direction... http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?95659-Location-of-the-IAT-%28G42%29-and-Boost-Sensor-%28G31%29-Sensor
  15. Thank you mate. The Bluetooth streaming is actually quite important to me - perhaps I'll look at upgrading my A unit some time in the future. Cheers!
  16. Out if interest, what would a dealer charge to do a full firmware & map update?
  17. Is there any advantage to the E variant over the A? Features, speed or otherwise? Thanks.
  18. Yesterday I swapped in a 3C8 unit into my Dad's 2010 V6. Works a treat. Straight forward changeover. An idiot could do it! Got mine from Germany. Parts seller called Happy Parts. Worked out about £94 delivered. Very pleased. Thanks to those that took the time to document this upgrade.
  19. I would. Plastic piece, looks like it wraps round the back, behind the pedals. Same as yours.
  20. I have the same as you. Just in black dimpled plastic instead.
  21. Looks identical, doesn't it. Could be a good find. Tell them you'll test fit it for them - if it fits, you'll send a pic and they can add it to their description - for a discount, natch Like those pedals too... And I knew I recognised them!! (Perhaps I'll swap mine over if I get the V6!) V V V
  22. I've tweaked lots of cars in the past. Didn't stop me getting bored with them - Just meant I had slightly less money to change when I finally faced facts! Looks a tidy car, but sounds like you probably want something different. If it's grunt you want then look for something more powerful to start with. All depends on what your budget is, I guess.
