The 2020/07 manual seems to me to show the MY21 infotainment systems... and the section covering the driver information system talks about setting the clock. For the Virtual Cockpit it also talks about setting the units desired which may include a choice of 12 hour or 24 hour clocks? There must be some way to set it to miles/gallons or kilometres/litres too I'd have thought. Which trim level and infotainment system do you have? Can you add a POI by touching the map on the screen perhaps? If you have the new steering wheel and USB-C sockets you should have a MY21 car that is as shown in the 2020/07 owners manual.

Yes the Golf SV has been very comfortable, and despite my doubts over moving from a 1.6TDI DSG Golf Plus to a 1.4TSI DSG SV the performance has been more than adequate and economy better than I'd feared. (I've averaged 42mpg over my 5+years with it as opposed to the 50-odd I got with the Plus. Although they never sold that well in the UK, dealers often said that as soon as they put one in the showroom it sold almost immediately! However they were very popular in Germany and I've seen far more on roads abroad than I have in the UK. It's a pity VW never updated its technology, and abandoned the intended replacement for the SV and Touran, but I'm eager now to get my Karoq in the drive

I fill my cars brim to brim, recording the mileage and amount to fill. The calculated mpg is usually a bit worse than that predicted by the car. But it's handy to see how journeys compare in the car between refills.

All cars registered in UK after 1st September will have a 70 plate (unless you want to have a personal plate on it instead in which case it could be an older number). So cars produced in September, transported to the UK and then registered, will normally be 70s.

Sorry, I can't remember now, and I've not got the service records for the Golf Plus anymore.

I ran a Golf Plus 1.6TDI with the DSG gearbox very happily from December 2011 to February 2015 (30,000 miles) with no problems, and then changed to my present Golf SV 1.4TSI with the DSG gearbox (getting on for 50,000 miles now) again with no problems. I'm totally converted to DSGs now and will be having one on my new Karoq (albeit a different version). They can be very expensive to repair if they do go wrong, so I went for a 5 year factory warranty on the Golf SV, and will do again on my Karoq. Chris

The owners manuals are at https://manual.skoda-auto.com/210/en-gb/Model/Karoq_NU/07-2020/en The 2020/07 issue is the MY21 version (the previous 2020/05 issue which was also for MY21 seems to have disappeared!) and they seem to offer it in Cestina as well as English. In the UK some of the Skoda Connect functions are only free for the first year, and I thought that included the map updates. If I'm wrong, I'll be very relieved as I'm not convinced that I need all its features

The MY21 Karoq will be using the new MIB3 version of the Amundsen satnav. This is said to still use an SD card to hold the maps (rather than the hard drive used in the Columbus) but it seems to be inaccessible to the driver. In the UK, we are now getting a free e-SIM for updates (but only for the first year?). The owner's manual says updates will be added to the maps as required automatically, and there is no confirmation about being able to update the maps via the USB socket. I think previous comments about doing this were for the MIB2 satnavs - unless any Kamiq owners know better?

It's the new 'minimal' look to go with having to look and reach for a touchscreen instead of just flicking a switch!

And if you'd prefer to have the fixed servicing because you drive less than 10,000 miles a year, then you can ask for it to be set up that way before you pick the car up.

The workshop manual for the 1.5TSI is given in the first post here However it states that a special tool is required to remove the filter. Also note that the owner's manual states on page 196 (for the 2020/05 issue) 'Have the oil changed by a specialist garage.' If yours is a new car (rather than just new to you) then you would seem to be at risk of invalidating the warranty by doing it yourself.

I think the video was suggesting there MAY be some wires at the bottom of the screen to heat the glass where the windscreen wipers rest (so they will be unfrozen quickly should you try to use the wipers when they're frozen to the glass). Whether these are present on the Karoq we will have to wait to see.

True. When I'm buying a new car my primary consideration is whether the boot is bigger or small than my present car, and whether it has features like a hidden compartment under the boot floor. So in practice, once I've decided a car is viable it's off to a dealer with a tape measure to compare the old with then new.

The colours I can't stand are the ones that make a car disappear into the background on the road. VW seem to have decided 50 Shades of Grey are the way to go (which was one of the key reasons I decided against a Tiguan) and SEAT have actually got an Ateca colour called Dark Camouflage! I wonder what the insurance premiums will be for that??

That's what I was asking. In the UK, yes you have to register your car in the UK once you are living here, but there is no restriction on you registering LHD drive cars here - whether European or American imports.

As a tourist in a RHD drive car, I don't know of any country where I would be banned from driving it. Or do some countries actually insist on their residents not driving RHD drive cars??

I applied on-line on the 16th of July to take my personal plate off my Golf (anticipating a delay and wanting to have the documents in time to register my new Karoq), and had its new number with a document to let me have the plates made up back online. The paper documents (the Retention Certificate for my personal plate, and new V5 for my Golf) arrived in the following week. As far as changes from MY20 to MY21, as well as the ones you have mentioned you should have a removable torch in the boot which seems to have been deleted for MY21. Also, if it has a heated windscreen it will be the type with thin wires embedded in it rather than the wire-free type, and it will have the old-style steering wheel, which was only heated as an optional extra.

Another unpublicised change for MY21 is that the heated windscreen option, while jumping from £280 to £370 has also changed to the wire-free version (instead of having thin wires buried in the glass) according to the German Karoq forum. I've seen threads where people had said they have to learn to 'look through' the wires by not focussing on them, but that they can be distracting at night if other lights are diffracted by them, so I'm glad the Karoq has now joined other VW cars in using the wire-free version.

Quite, you have the right to cancel. But isn't the Hyundai built in Czechia? So it will be in exactly the same position as Skodas, Kias etc. :(
